The purpose of the study is to reveal methods of image creation in dynamic visual communications based on symmetry. Methodology. Research methodology is interdisciplinary. It is based on systems and synergistical approaches. They consider dynamic visual communications as an integral field of interaction between human and environment. We systematized design methods of the image creation of a visual message by using the system and functional, structural and dynamic, composition, artistic and image design-analyses according to the principles of symmetry. Results. We represent symmetry as a method of dynamic visual communications form and image creation. Symmetrical relations are formed at the object structure level (mirror symmetry and central symmetry), the process level (translational symmetry, multilevel central symmetry and radial symmetry) and environment level (scale invariance and recursion). Integrative basis strengthening allows forming the structure of the image content providing fusion with an environment. Rethinking of the design methods on the based on the principles of symmetry increases the efficiency of perception and visual communications dynamic in the context of changeable external conditions. Scientific novelty. In the research we rethought the role of symmetry in dynamic visual communications design based on the systems approach for the first time. It is well-proven that the symmetric transformations support increasing of aesthetic, functional and communicative qualities of dynamic visual information. Practical significance. Research materials can serve as basis for harmonization and optimization of the form and content of different visual communications types. Their image structurization according to the principles of symmetry provides new development strategies of the integrated visual communications. It is important to increase perception efficiency in the conditions of continuously growing information volumes. Researched design methods of visual communications symmetric structures can be used by specialists in order to arrange the modern space. We also use them as the basis for designers’ system thinking forming as an educational technology.

The purposeof the study is to find the ways of the creation of the dynamic visual communications on bus stops. It will make the interaction of the message, a human and the environment harmonious. Methodology.The work is based on the system approach. It makes possible to consider dynamic visual communications as the integral area for the communication of a human and the environment. The results of the compositional and structural and functional analysis helped to make the generalization and systematization of the ways for the visual dynamic creation on bus stops. Results. In the study we consider the bus stop as the visual dynamic system with the intensive communicational processes, which are based on the integration of different forms of human sensitive experience and the urban environment. We proved that subject-visual, visual-sound, visual-tactile and digital visual communications substantiate the transformation of the information perception and deepen it. At the same time a human becomes a part of the communication. Bus stop turns into the experimental location and provides increased emotionality of the communicational processes due to the forming of the immersive context. The designer can afford to program the people’s behavior in the system of the visual dynamic communications. It allows creating opportunities for the stationary bus stops to adapt to the changing external living conditions. Scientific novelty. In the work we rethink the role of the visual communication in the bus stop structure and in the whole environment. The visual communication has an experimental nature. It proves that the communications in the environment are developing towards the increasing dynamics and immersion. Practical significance. The results of the study show the ways to increase the level of dynamics of the visual communications on bus stops. It will make the perception of the informational messages more effective and will make the urban environment more aesthetic. The features of the dynamical designing, which were found, can be used by specialists with the purpose of the designing of the modern environment. In addition, they can be used as the educational technology to form the system thinking of designers.

This paper elucidates the history, the design philosophy of innovation and the transformation of an old process-technology into a breakthrough, evidence-based therapy with international medical acceptance, verification of effectiveness as well as the strategic business model employed. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMFT) was not medically acceptable and was, until recently in disrepute, professionally speaking. A revisiting of the technology with reference to the partially inconsistent, yet positive anecdotal results obtained, gave rise to in-depth analysis as well as scientific research conducted by independent institutions which resulted in the identification of the key physiological parameters which in turn could be related to a significant improvement of pathologies. By applying and promoting a systems approach as practiced by engineers who were involved in complex multidisciplinary projects for many years, a different perspective on the innovative development of PEMF therapy was established. The innovative process-based therapy working mainly at cellular and self-regulation level was a paradigmatic departure from the indication-based therapy as applied to pharmaceutical therapy. Over the past 10 years exceptional breakthroughs of the nonsymptom based therapy have been documented through clinical trials, scientific medical investigations and the publication of relevant literature. The turn-around of the old and insufficiently understood technology into an innovative, significant, scientific breakthrough-technology, requires a paradigm shift which is analogous to working in a different culture. It is surmised that this paradigm shift will strongly influence medical schools and practitioners over the next 5–10 years. The authors, as “outsiders” to the medical discipline, bring an engineering perspective to bear on the development of innovative but system-integrated medical devices which can promote the medical device industry and bring system engineering approaches into the realm of medical technology and therapy. Both authors have presented a number of papers at international conferences individually and in partnership on the topics of strategic business leadership and business transformation, system thinking and holistic management model development for high technology companies.

The social significance of scientific studies of ethnic communities is conditioned by the increase of diasporas becoming a common stationary phenomenon in most countries of the world. The scientific discourse of the problem is aimed at analyzing the integral and conflict-causing aspects of the activities of modern diasporas, which will be determined by the specificity of the historical, socio-economic situation, region of residence, features of interethnic policy, etc. The goal of the article was to analyze evaluations of representatives of diasporas in six regions of the Russian borderland about success of adaptation and integration of migrants in the host community. The set of indicators included attitudes towards migrant children in educational institutions, opinions about the restriction or stimulation of migration in the regions, attitudes towards illegal migrants, the problem of national enclaves. The presented results are based on a systems approach, the theory of interdependence in the world development, the essence of which is the formation of the transnational structure of the world community. Conclusions about the adaptive and integration potential of regional diasporas are made, differential assessments on a number of socially significant issues thatdetermine the scientific field of the phenomenon of transit migration in the border areas of the Russian Federation under study are presented. The scientific novelty of the proposed results consists in the study of the role of ethnic communities, in comparison with the local population of the recipient countries, which can be used in forecasting the effectiveness of integration processes and providing the scientific basis for regulating the risk of interethnic conflicts. The practical significance consists in the possibility of optimizing the activities of diasporas for effective social management in the field of migration policy.

Deliberative systems theory is a promising candidate for a normative theory of democracy that combines ideal requirements with feasibility. Yet, recent theoretical elaborations and studies of citizens’ online media use inspired by the theory suffer from an incomplete account of the public sphere’s epistemic function, too rough interpretations of participatory levels, shortcomings in the understanding of online media, and a context-insensitive notion of policy reform. Addressing these weaknesses, the article argues for a refined version of deliberative systems theory. Particular attention is given to feasibility considerations. Reviewing studies of online democracy in Norway, the article shows that the theoretical critique has practical significance. It is also argued that the amended version of the deliberative systems approach produces a diagnosis of Norwegian online democracy more in line with reasonable expectations to a high achiever. This is taken as a prima facie indicator of feasibility.

Abstract We investigated the contribution of visual imagination to the cognitive mapping of a building when initial exploration was simulated either visually by using a passive video walk-through, or mentally by using verbal guidance. Building layout had repeating elements with either rotational or mirror symmetry. Cognitive mapping of the virtual building, determined using questionnaires and map drawings, was present following verbal guidance but inferior to that following video guidance. Mapping was not affected by the building's structural symmetry. However, notably, it correlated with small-scale mental rotation scores for both video and verbal guidance conditions. There was no difference between males and females. A common factor that may have influenced cognitive mapping was the availability of visual information about the relationships of the building elements, either directly perceived (during the video walk-through) or imagined (during the verbal walk-through and/or during recall). Differences in visual imagination, particularly mental rotation, may thus account for some of the individual variance in cognitive mapping of complex built environments, which is relevant to how designers provide navigation-relevant information.
