& This  problem highlighted in this study is  the low  of reading comprehension of the students at MTsN Pucanglaban Tulungagung that is caused by (1) the students’ difficulties to understand about meaning in the text; (2) the students’difficulties to read and spell it correctly whether in spoken form or written form.; (3) the lack of vocabulary. The research design in this study was pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. This design involves only one group by using pre-test and post-test as the instrument. The sample was VIIIA class which consists of 34 students. The result showed that the students’ mean score in teaching reading comprehension before they are taught using summary technique was 84.37. While the students’ mean score after they are taught using summary technique was 90.43. By comparing significant level in t table at 0.05, it is known that t count is bigger than t table.  Summary technique can be used as an alternative teaching technique to teach reading comprehension to the students at JHS level.

The research design is a quantitative research. As an experimental research, it aims to know the effect of the technique that given and apply whether it influences to the object or no. In this research in collecting the data the researcher has to do three steps, they are pre-test, treatment, post-test. The researchers find out that the effect of using skimming method can increase the students’ skill in reading of narrative text. It can be proven from the test of students’ score in posttest of experimental class which the treatment the researchers did the treatment by using skimming method. This research investigated the effect of speed reading on students’ reading comprehension. The writer used quantitative as the research method and used the quasi experiment as a research design. The writer used experimental class to imply the speed reading method and control group for the other technique in teaching reading. For collecting the data the writer gave the pre – test for experimental and control group, then administrated the treatment for experiment class , finally the researcher administrated the post – test to find out the improvement of speed reading method for the student . Based on the writer interpretation it is concluded that hypothesis is accepted.it is suggested that the teacher should imply the speed reading method in teaching reading because research finding proved that speed reading gave more improvement in reading comprehension that the other technique in teaching reading and the speed reading method was more interesting than conventional method.

This research aimed find out the effectiveness of using big story book project (BSBP) in teaching reading comprehension and to know the advantages and the disadvantages of using BSBP in teaching reading comprehension. The researcher applied pre-experimental research design and consists of pre-test, treatment and post-test in order to find whether the big story book project (BSBP) effective in teaching reading comprehension. The instruments used in this research were reading test and questionnaire. The result from this research shows that using big story book project (BSBP) in teaching reading comprehension is effective. It is proved by the result that there is significant difference between the result of the students’ mean score in the pre-test and the post-test. In the pre-test, the students’ mean score is (43.79) and in the post-test is (80.37). Furthermore, it is proved by the probability value is smaller than α (0.00 < 0.05). On the other word, BSBP has advantages to the students if applied in teaching and learning process, especially in reading subject.

Abstract : Elderly, SAS, Trunks, PNF. Elderly will be experienced by everyone who was blessed with longevity. Change is an advanced stage of development of life with a decrease in the body's ability to adapt to environmental stress. Decreased ability can be inhibited with the exercises. There are three stretches used is SAS, ballistic and PNF. This study is an experimental research design with two group pre test - post test design. The study was conducted at the Hospice Dharma Bhakti Surakarta in June-July 2007. The gauge trunk flexibility is Sit and Reach Test. 18 subjects showed flexibility can improve significantly after being treated SAS or PNF exercises,

This research describes about the effect of Story Mapping Technique to comprehend narrative text at grade VIII students of SMP N 5 Padangsidimpuan. There were some problems in this research: 1) The students get difficulties in comprehending the text, 2) The students cannot combine the information that they have already read with their background knowledge, 3) The teacher uses inappropriate technique in teaching reading comprehension. The kind of this research was experimental research. The population of this research was all of the eight grade of SMP N 5 Padangsidimpuan.  The total of population were 265 students. Then, the sample of the research was 2 classes, VIII 5 as experimental class that consist of 28 students and VIII 6 as control class that consist of 28 students. The data was derived from pre-test and post-test. To analyze the data, the researcher used t-test formula. Based on the calculation of t-test, the researcher found that tcount = 8.03 and ttable = 1.67356. It means tcount ttable (8.03 1.67356). So, the researcher could concludes that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. There was the significant effect of using Story Mapping Technique to comprehend narrative text at grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan.

The objectives of this study were to find out whether students’ achievement in reading comprehension taught by TELLS technique was significantly higher than PSOT. (2) whether the students’ achievement in reading comprehension with high interest was higher than with low interest, and (3) If there was interaction between teaching techniques and interest on students’ achievement in reading comprehension. This study established the different effect of teaching techniques on students’ interest which was required by the hypothesis and applying experimental research design by using Factorial Design 2x2. Descriptive statistic was used to describe the data such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and variance. While inferential statistic used to test the research hypotheses by applying two ways ANOVA with the level of significance 0.05. The results reveals that (1) students’ achievement in reading expository text taught by using TELLS was higer than PSOT technique, with Fob = 17.902 > Ftab = 3.11, (2) students’ achievement in reading expository text on hight interest was higher than that low interest, with Fobs = 38.988 > Ftab = 3.11, (3) there was interaction between teaching technique and interest on students’ achievement in reading comprehension with Fobs = 5.962 > Ftab = 3.11.Keywords:Teaching Techniques, Interest, Reading Comprehension

The objective of this research was to find out whether the Interactive technique could improve students’ reading comprehension. This was a quasi-experimental research. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SLTP Negeri 1 Kota Bengkulu which consisted of 193 students. The sample of this research was the class VIII.2 (34 students) as the experimental group and the VIII.3 (40 students) as the control group. The instrument was a reading comprehension test, which consisted of 40 items. Before the pre-test was given, it was tried out to the students of the same level. The result was t-count in the pre-test was smaller than t-table (1.26 < 2.042). This indicated that the groups were of equal ability. For the post-test, in contrast, the t-count was greater than t- table (2.7 > 2.042). This indicated that the interactive technique could improve students’ reading comprehension.

This study was conducted to find out the effect of using frontloading strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Bengkulu. This research was a quasi experimental research that is one short experiment which used post-test only. The population of this research were the seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Bengkulu there are 180 students. The sample of this research were 57 students from two classes; the experimental class and control class. The experimental class was treated by using frontloading strategy, while the control class was taught by conventional strategy. The two classes have similar ability in English based on the scores of mid-term examination. In experimental class there was a significant positive effect towards the students reading comprehension (it was found that the t-count 2.047 while t-table was 1.676). T-count was bigger than t-table (2.047<1.676).   Based on those results, it can be assumed frontloading strategy was effective in increasing students’ reading comprehension.
