The rapid increase of technology has transformed the praxis of language education and linked to the construct of autonomy learning. It is believed that the great technology accommodated the language learners to achieve their goals and aims. However, this statement is still debatable in language instruction. Given the previous consideration, the purpose of this study was to explore by reviewing 23 articles focusing on the autonomy learning issues that scholars or researchers discussed in their papers. The used research method in this manuscript was a systematic review. This study investigated six prior subheadings: the change number varies by year, the foci and purposes, countries where the articles were published, the applied research methods and data collection tools, the occupied sample group, sample size, and the adopted method theoretical frameworks and dimensions. The data collection was taken by categorizing the six subheadings and analyzing them by presenting bar graphics, figure maps, and tables. The study revealed various insights related to autonomy learning, such as still in the recent trending issue, applicable in multiple approaches, potentially in the sundry of theoretical frameworks, elaborating in numerous dimensions, with ample applied research methods, and so forth. In addition, the implication of this study considerably can be useful for the freshmen or sophomore researchers to gain state of the art or novelty before conducting research or publishing papers specifically on the topic of autonomy learning in the praxis of language education. Keywords: Autonomy Learning; Language Education; Systematic Review

Abstract The aim of this paper is two-fold: firstly, to provide an overview of the methods used to elicit metapragmatic data in research with young language learners through a systematic review; and secondly, to present three data collection techniques designed and used in two research projects conducted by the authors, and examine their affordances for eliciting metapragmatic data. The systematic review revealed that data elicitation techniques employed in metapragmatics research with children closely reflected those widely employed in research with (young) adults (Culpeper, Mackey & Taguchi, 2018). Against this backdrop, the paper presents three elicitation techniques, developed based on the literature on the methodological considerations for conducting research with children (e.g. O’Kane, 2008; Pinter, 2014; Punch, 2002a, 2002b): the Emoticon task, the Ranking circle, and Readers Theatre. After describing the techniques and presenting the metapragmatic discussions elicited through them, the paper calls for the inclusion of innovative, participant-friendly methods in interlanguage pragmatics research focusing on children’s metapragmatic awareness.

Creswell (2002) noted that quantitative research is the process of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and writing the results of a study, while qualitative research is the approach to data collection, analysis, and report writing differing from the traditional, quantitative approaches. This paper provides a further distinction between quantitative and qualitative research methods. This paper also presents a summary of the different research methods to conduct research in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies.</span></span></p>

The purpose of the current was to conduct a descriptive content analysis of the national research studies on classroom management. In this study, the thematic and methodological aspects of the studies on classroom management were portrayed in-depth through an inductive approach. In this systematic review, printed and electronically published studies on classroom management between 1999-2019 were considered. Tags and templates were used as data collection tools. In the study, the content analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in order to examine the studies conducted in the field of classroom management between 1999-2019. This systematic review was conducted through the content analysis of a total of 300 studies researching the concepts of classroom management. A combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches was used in the data anaysis. The thematic-factual-conceptual contents of the studies were carried out by keyword analysis. A total of 4 study phenomena were identified and these are as follows: (i) classroom management approaches (ii) classroom management dimensions (iii) in-school factors in classroom management, (iv) out-of-school factors in classroom management. The reviewed studies mostly tended to use the qualitative model as a research method. The general designing approach emerges as a reaearch design type. Many studies included in the study obtained data from primary sources if a data collection process was carried out. Most of the sources of data were teachers and students. In this study, it is suggested to increase the richness of the techniques in data collection tools and analysis by increasing the diversity in the research methods of the articles on classroom management classroom.

Although academics can receive considerable training in selecting appropriate research designs, types of data to collect, and methods for analyzing data, as well as guidance on preparing scholarly manuscripts, there is a dearth of information on how to initiate and manage partnerships with organizations in order to conduct high-quality applied research, particularly when the research is quantitative in nature. In this article, we provide our own experience-based insights and recommendations to help academics more easily (a) initiate a research relationship with senior organizational leadership, (b) decide early whether to pursue or end a research collaboration with an organization, (c) keep the organization engaged during the study, and (d) maintain the relationship with the organization after data collection is complete. This information is proposed as a complement to traditional organizational research methods and as instrumental in the pursuit of research salient to the interests of organizational practitioners.

The purpose of this systematic review was to identify trends in educational leadership and management (EDLM) knowledge production in the Arabian Gulf region, drawing on a database of 272 studies published in local (Arabic) journals over a 10-year period (2009–2018). The review focused on the geographic distribution of the literature, authorship trends, types of studies, research topics, research methods and data collection techniques. The study employed quantitative methods aimed at highlighting patterns of EDLM knowledge production rather than synthesising research findings. The study used the Arabic databases hosted by Dar Almandumah (EduSearch, EcoLink, IslamicInfo, AraBase, and Humanindex), in addition to the Shamaa database to identify relevant sources. The study found that the literature under investigation reflected many of the features characterising EDLM literatures from other developing countries, especially in terms of the types of studies, topical coverage and research methods. The most notable features included uneven geographic distribution, predominance of single-authored papers, absence of certain important topics, prevalence of empirical articles, and heavy reliance on quantitative research methods and data collection techniques. Recommendations were provided to improve future EDLM research in the region. The study supports findings from previous reviews of EDLM literature in the Arab region and highlights the need for more concerted efforts to enhance the quality and relevance of this literature to increase its ability to inform policy and practice.

Research methods and analytical approaches that support inquiry in the social sciences need to respond to continual changes in the theoretical frameworks, research methods, and technologies used to support data collection and analysis in contemporary research frameworks. This article describes a variation of qualitative content analysis, termed ‘multimodal content analysis’, that draws upon previous iterations of qualitative content analysis, interpretivist research designs, deductive and inductive reasoning, qualitative data collection and analysis methods, and theories of multimodality for conceptualizing and analyzing a selected corpus of multimodal phenomena. In addition, the analysis of selected commercial wine labels is presented to offer researchers an example of multimodal content analysis to guide future research and open up a dialogue focusing on the potential advantages and challenges to researching multimodal phenomena.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, education systems around the globe suspended on-site classes and transitioned instruction to various remote environments, creating a distinctive context for teaching and learning. This systematic review brings together the available research in language education within the current emergency setting to examine the state of affairs, as well as the situation’s inherent challenges and opportunities for language learners and teachers. A total of 38 studies were collected to reflect the current trend, with 16 of these in-depth reviewed. Research focusing on learners was dominant. Most research was conducted at the tertiary level. The studies highlighted digital tools that are capable of engaging language learners in an interactive learning experience, though they are unable to replace face-to-face instruction. Outside-of-class support such as extra channels of communication, self-access language learning (SALL) materials, and advising in language learning (ALL) were all found to complement remote learning. It is recommended that teachers try to retain their teaching principles and put them into practice regardless of the abrupt transition. Teachers’ wellbeing can be promoted when teachers accept the changes and see them as opportunities.
