Undernutrition in urban areas remains a serious public health problem in Indonesia. The study aimed to find out what factors were related to the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of the Limo Community Health Center, Limo District. Depok City, Indonesia in 2019. This research was conducted in June-July 2019 using a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 118 mothers who have toddlers aged 6-59 months in the Limo Health Center work area in 2019. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The analysis was performed using chi-square (α = 0.05). Undernutrition is defined as the condition of children under five which is determined based on the anthropometric index measurement results of body weight for age with a Z- score of -2 SD to ≤ -3 SD, while good nutrition is at a Z-score of -2 SD to 2 SD. As a result, the prevalence of undernutrition was 16.1%. As much as 50% of the respondents had high school education and mothers with low education were 32.2%. The results showed a prevalence of working mothers (13.6%), family income < Rp. 4,600,000 (52.5%), mothers with low knowledge (25.4%), male children (53.4%), poor parenting (3.4%), and mothers who did not use health services properly (3.4%). There was a significant relationship between maternal education (p = 0.004; OR: 4,813; 95% CI: 1,711-13,537), family income (p = 0.006; OR: 6.145; 95% CI: 1.68-22.43), and maternal knowledge (p = 0.007; OR: 4.389; 95% CI: 1.57-12.23) with the nutritional status of children under five in the working area of the Limo Community Health Center. The suggestion is that the Limo Community Health Center make a program to increase the knowledge capacity of mothers regarding the nutrition of their children.

Weighing the child's weight every month to find out the nutritional status of children is one of the routine activities at the Posyandu. One effort to reduce the problem of malnutrition in children is to increase the participation of mothers in visiting and weighing their children to the Posyandu every month. This study aims to determine the relationship of the number of Posyandu visits with the nutritional status of children under five (1-5 years). This study uses a descriptive correlation design with a retrospective approach. The study was conducted in the working area of the Amplas Health Center with a sample of 382 mothers and children under five years old using proportional random sampling technique based on the number of Posyandu. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire for demographic data and a child's weight-weighing registration book. The analysis used is univariate analysis to determine the frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using chi-square. The results showed that 145 people (38%) regularly visited Posyandu and 237 people (62%) did not regularly visit Posyandu. Children who have good nutritional status are 203 people (53.1%), malnutrition is 109 people (28.5%), and malnutrition is 70 people (18.3%). The bivariate analysis results obtained p value (0.00) <ɑ (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between the number of Posyandu visits and the nutritional status of children under five. Suggestions for puskesmas staff to be able to conduct training and health education to cadres and improve health facilities in Posyandu.

Background: One of the efforts made in overcoming malnutrition in the toddler age group is by implementing a Recovery Supplementary Feeding program. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in nutritional status of children based on weight for height before and after the Supplementary Food Recovery and differences in nutritional status of children after Supplementary Food Recovery and when they had not received Supplementary Food Recovery in the Simomulyo Community Health Center work area. Methods: This study was observational study using case-control design. A total of 38 toddlers with history of obtaining Supplemental Feeding Recovery (PMT) Program in the working area of Simomulyo Health Center were randomly selected. Nutritional status of toddlers is obtained using anthropometric methods of body weight and height / body length. Statistically tested using t-test paired with a significance level of <0.05.Results: After not getting Supplemental Feeding Recovery, it was found that 2.6% of children under five severely wasting, 34.2% wasting, and 63.2% had normal nutritional status. There was a decrease in the percentage of infants with normal nutritional status compared to after completing PMT Recovery program from 68.4% to 63.2%. There were no significant differences in nutritional status of children before and after the program (p=0.585). There was no difference between the nutritional status of children under five after the program and when they had not received the program (p=0.430)Conclusions: There was no difference in nutritional status of children (weight-for-height) before and after Supplemental Feeding Recovery Program.ABSTRAK  Latar Belakang: Upaya yang dilakukan dalam mengatasi kekurangan gizi pada kelompok usia balita adalah program Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) Pemulihan.

Pneumonia is the leading cause of death among children under five years of age in the world. Based on Riskesdas 2007, in Indonesia the percentages of infants and children under five years who died due to pneumonia were 23.8 percent and 15.5 percent respectively. Using a non-reactive unobstructive method, this study aimed at analyzing the relationship between nutrition and the immunization status and the incidence of pneumonia among children under two years old. This study employed secondary data of Laporan Bulanan Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak dan Laporan Gizi (monthly reports of maternal care, child wellbeings, and nutritions) at Bulak Banteng primary health center in the year of 2015. The sample in this study was 604 children under two years selected using a simple random sampling method. The data was obtained by collecting data of children under two years and the incidence of pneumonia among children under two years at Bulak Banteng health center in 2015. Using a bivariate analysis, it showed that there was relationship between variables of age, sex, immunization, and nutritional status, and the incidence of pneumonia. The p value and OR variables used respectively are 0.00 OR 3.6; 0.00 OR 1.6; 0.00 OR 3.2 and 0.00 OR 16.6. The conclusion of this study is that there was a significant relationship between the variables of age, sex, immunization, and nutritional status and the incidence of pneumonia among children under two years. The advice to primary health centers is to give PMT (additional nutritious food) to children under two years without good nutritional statuses and to monitor the health status of patients who have pneumonia with home visits to avoid recurrence.

Background: Chepang Community in Nepal has often been characterized as the poorest among Nepal’s poor, and has faced food insecurity at a household level each year. Health status of their children is poor compared to other community children and more so for the age group under the age of five years. Objective: To find the proportion of stunting, wasting and underweight, and to assess the most promising factors associated with the nutritional status of children under five years of Chepang community in Siddi, Chitwan, Nepal. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional research design was used with 170 samples. To find the association of different factors with the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age (stunting, wasting and underweight, each) binary multiple logistic regression model was used and the goodness of fit of the model was assessed through Hosmer and Lemeshow test. Results: The overall proportion of children under five years of the Chepang community is 60.6%, 30.6% and 44.7% for underweight, stunting and wasting respectively. Among many factors, the mother’s illiteracy (OR: 5.30, 95 % CI: 1.37 to 21.57), external monthly family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 9.65, 95 % CI: 3.23 to 30.78) and food availability for six months from own land (OR: 4.17, 95 % CI: 1.90 to 17.98) have a significant association with underweight. Similarly, for stunting, female child (OR: 2.19, 95 % CI: 1.02 to 4.70), number of children (more than one) below 14 years at home (OR: 4.15, 95 % CI : 1.77 to 11.04) and external family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 4.42, 95% CI: 1.01 to 17.06) are significantly associated, and for wasting, a number of children (more than one) below 14 years at home (OR: 4.64, 95 % of CI: 1.71 to 12.60) and external family income (≤ NRs. 2000) (OR: 5.17, 95 % CI: 2.27 to 11.79) are significantly associated. Conclusion: Substantial numbers of children from Chepang community are having the problem of underweight, stunting and wasting. Different demographic and socio-economic variables have been found associated for odds of having low level of nutritional status of children.
