The purpose of the research is evaluating the efficacy of complex therapy using dironet, lactobifadol and keratin food supplement (DLK) against toxascariosis of the arctic fox.Materials and methods. To determine the helminth fauna in the conditions of Vyatka Fur Breeding Farm, 61 females silver fox and 55 females voilevoy arctic fox were used as study objects. To conduct complex therapy against toxascariosis, the study object was 24 females culled from the breeding herd, spontaneously infected with toxascariosis and being clinically healthy. The morphological and biochemical blood parameters in female foxes were determined before and after dehelminthization, and control weighing of animals from experimental groups was carried out before and after the experiment.Results and discussion. Of the studied 116 fur-bearing animals, 26 (22.4%) were infected with Toxascaris leonina. Infection rate of Toxascaris sp. in silver fox females aged 5–7 years was 42.6% when 7-9 eggs were found in one microscope field (magnification 7 × 9). Infection with Toxascaris sp. affects on the body weight of infected animals. The females silver fox from the second experimental group infected with Toxascaris sp., which were not treated, had an average live weight of 1.3 kg less (16.6%) as compared to the control. The complex therapy with the DLK treatment-and-prophylactic complex contributed to the improved metabolic processes and digestion. The applicability of the DLK treatment-and-prophylactic complex for therapy against toxascariosis was proved.

Relevance. Dagestan Republic in terms of natural and climatic characteristics is the most favorable for the of ixodid ticks - carriers of pathogens of blood-parasitic diseases of farm animals. In this regard, further improvement of the set of scientifically grounded control measures and the search for new promising chemotherapeutic drugs of the prevention and treatment of pyroplasmidosis of cattle are major problem of great national economic importance.Materials and methods. The studies were carried out in farms, unfavorable on pyroplasmidosis, in the conditions of Dagestan Republic. The object of the study was cattle, spontaneously invaded by various types of blood parasites. Experеmental and control groups in production experiments were selected according to the principle of analogues. In the first control group (n = 10) the drug was not used. The second (n = 10) was injected with the drug DAC 5% at a dose of 1 ml/20 kg (DV 2.5 mg/kg), intramuscularly, at the rate 5 ml per 100 kg of live weight. The animals of the third (n = 10) were injected with the injectable preparation forticarb 10% at a dose of 4 ml/100 kg (DV 4 mg/kg) of live weight, intramuscularly, once.Results. It was found that with a single intramuscular injection of forticarb at the rate 2 ml/50 kg of live weight, the temperature and parasitic reaction in the body of sick animals decreased in a very short time. Therapeutic efficacy in pyroplasmidosis of cattle was 90%.

Three data sets were available: records on conformation and coat traits for the arctic fox from one farm (5 540 observations, collected between 1983 and 1997), and the same traits for the silver fox from three farms (8 199 observations, collected between 1984 and 1999). The third set comprised 5 829 observations on reproductive performance of the arctic fox from one farm, collected between 1984 and 1999. The GLM procedure was used to test the significance of fixed effects on the analysed reproduction traits as well as differences between groups. Phenotypic trends as well as relationship and inbreeding across the studied years were computed. Most of the phenotypic trends were positive. Low relationship and inbreeding coefficients in the arctic and silver fox populations under study were estimated. The average relationship coefficients for the silver and arctic fox populations were 0.015 and 0.010, respectively, whereas the average inbreeding coefficients for the same species were 0.0039 and 0.0016, respectively. No inbreeding was found in the arctic fox breeding females.

Pregnancy is a period of both hormonal and non-hormonal overall change in the body. Emotional instability is commonly experienced by women during this period. However, this somewhat complex issue is often not addressed optimally. Pharmacological therapies using CPZ and lithium are often administered, but they have effects for the body. Therefore, there is a need to administer non-pharmacological therapy that has minimum side effects. This research aims to increase the healthy energy within the body using Pranic Healing, which is measured by the Bio-Well GDV camera. This research employed the pretest-posttest method on two groups (treatment and control) using the Randomized Controlled Trial design. Pranic Healing therapy was performed for 30 minutes once a week for 3 weeks, while GDV measurement was performed once a week for 4 weeks. Paired t-test results for Pranic Healing on emotional pressure showed p-value of 0.0001 (<0.05) for posttest2 and p-value of 0.005 (<0.05) for posttest3. Meanwhile, the control group did not indicate any changes in emotional stress both before and after treatment. It is found that Pranic Healing as measured using a bio-well GDV camera is capable of improving health energy within the body by relieving emotional stress experienced in trimester III primigravida.

Sixteen osteodystrophic dwarf cattle and ten controls of comparable age were slaughtered. The components of the body and eviscerated carcass were weighed and measured. At birth the dwarfs were thick and blocky. At the time of slaughter a bulging forehead was common but not always extreme and not always present. The symptoms of dwarfism became increasingly pronounced with age, due to retarded growth. The dwarfs had shorter thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, body, loin, hind leg, arm bone and forearm bone than the controls. No explanation can be given for the difference. However, the dwarfs were hydrocephalic and had significantly lighter adrenal and pituitary glands than the control animals. The dwarf animals had more blood, heavier feet, less abdominal fat, smaller loin ‘eye muscle’ area at the 12th rib and a less deep loin ‘eye muscle’. The dwarf females had a lighter rumen (with and without contents) and large intestines (without content) as a percentage of live weight than the controls and dwarf males. There was no difference in palatability of the meat or percentage of wholesale cuts from the dwarf and control animals except for percentage of plate. The following three ratios were disproportionate in the dwarfs as compared with the controls:

In the conditions of the pig breeding complex, the effectiveness of two treatment regimens for antenatal hypotrophy of piglets was studied. Two groups of piglets were formed, where the ironcontaining drug «Ursoferran – 200» was used in complex therapy in the 1st experimental group, and «Ferropen-200»in the 2nd experimental group. In a clinical study, hypotrophic piglets showed characteristic symptoms of the disease. In the experiment, the live weight of piglets was measured at the time of farrowing and on the 3rd, 7th, 14th and 21st days of life. The hematological parameters were studied. The most pronounced therapeutic effect was observed in the 1st experimental group, where the body weight gain was higher by 8,3% than in the 2nd experimental group.

Objective of research: the study on tolerability and therapeutic efficacy of the complex drug Helmintal produced on the basis of two ingredients moxidectin and praziquantel. Materials and methods: In our research, we used four drug modifications: for cats and kittens weighting less than 4 kg (moxidectin 0.4 mg and praziquantel 10 mg); for cats — more than 4 kg (moxidectin 1.6 mg and praziquantel 40 mg); for dogs and puppies — less than 10 kg (moxidectin 1 mg and praziquantel 25 mg); for dogs — more than 10 kg (moxidectin 5 mg and praziquantel 125 mg.) To study the effect of the drug on the organism, three groups of clinically healthy animals were formed (5 animals per group): dogs 1 — 2 years of age with the body mass 18 — 20 kg; puppies 3 — 5 weeks of age weighting 0.8 — 1 kg; cats 1 — 2 years of age weighting 3 — 5 kg; kittens 6 — 8 weeks of age with the body mass 0.6 — 0.8 kg. The drug was given to animals orally once a day in the morning within 7 days in the following doses: the first experimental group — 0.4 mg moxidectin and praziquantel 10 mg per 1 kg of body weight (double therapeutic dose); the second group — moxidectin 1.0 mg and praziquantel 25 mg per 1 kg of body weight (five-fold therapeutic dose); the third group served as controls — the drug was not used. During the experiment, animals were monitored daily, their general health status, behavior, appetite were observed, weight and body temperature controlled. Before and 15 and 30 days after the beginning of the drug taking, several morphological and biochemical parameters of blood and urine were investigated. The study of the anthelmintic efficacy of the drug was carried out on the basis of veterinary clinics in Moscow and Moscow region. Altogether 205 cats and 209 dogs spontaneously infected were chosen for the experiment. The diagnosis and the drug efficacy were confirmed based on the clinical picture and on Fulleborn’s method used for detection of helminth eggs in animal’s feces followed by differentiation. Results and discussion: During the study on the drug tolerance it was found that the general status, mass and the body temperature of animals from experimental groups did not significantly differ from controls. Morphological and biochemical parameters of blood and urine in all animals from experimental and control groups did not differ significantly and were within the physiological norm before and after treatment. Thus, the research allows to conclude that the drug applied within 7 days at double and fivefold therapeutic doses has no adverse effect on dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. Most sick animals used in the experiment on the effectiveness of the drug, were emaciated, listless, their fur was ruffled, mucous membranes were pale; they suffered from anal itching, diarrhea and fecal retention. The drug was given after diagnosis; many dogs and cats ate it themselves, and other had no problems with eating pills due to their small size and pleasant taste. When applying the drug and throughout the experiment, no side effects and complications were observed in all animals. 10 and 20 days after giving the drug, its efficacy in the treatment of nematodosis and cestodosis of adult dogs cats as well as kittens and puppies was 100%.

The study presents estimates of heritability for fur coat and reproduction traits in arctic and silver foxes kept on Polish farms. The estimates of variance components were calculated using the DFREML and single-trait animal models. Due to a discrete character of fur coat traits, they were analysed twice: (1) without normalisation of their scores distribution, (2) after the normal probability scale transformation of their scores. Linear models included random additive genetic and common litter environment effects, and fixed effects of farm &times; year &times; birth season in the silver fox or year &times; birth season in the arctic fox as well as the fixed effect of female age when the reproduction traits were analysed. Moreover, the estimation of variance components for fur coat traits was done by a linear model with (Model 2) or without (Model 1) inbreeding coefficients included as linear covariable. In the arctic fox accounting for inbreeding and the data transformation did not markedly influence the estimates of heritability and the portion of litter variation calculated for the fur coat traits. An inbreeding effect was negligible (except for body size &ndash; BS) likely due to the low inbred level of the arctic fox population. In the silver fox the comparison of estimates derived using 2 different linear models and 2 data sets revealed more differences than it was found in the arctic fox. Accounting for inbreeding usually led to lower estimates of heritability, mainly when heritabilities were derived from the normal probability scale-transformed data. Most of the estimates of heritability of reproduction traits were found within the range reported by other authors. However, somewhat higher heritabilities were found for litter size at birth &ndash; LSB (0.205) and litter size at weaning &ndash; LSW (0.250). &nbsp; &nbsp;

ABSTRACTThe effects of selection for low backfat thickness on tissue deposition in different body sites has been investigated in pigs. Eight castrated male and eight female pigs from each of the selection and control lines maintained at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne were used. One castrated male and one female from each line was killed at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105 and 120 kg live weight following ad libitum food consumption and fully dissected.There were only small effects of line on carcass composition, selected pigs having 120 g/kg more bone than controls at the mean side weight (P < 0·001) and 40 g/kg more lean (NS). At the same mean weight of subcutaneous fat, selected pigs had thinner backfat than controls (approximately 3 mm) over m. longissimus at the last rib and over the shoulder but not at the mid-rump or mid-back positions. There appears to have been a slight shift in the sites of fat deposition from above m. longissimus in the loin towards the mid-line and rump as a result of selection, even though mid-rump, C and K measurements were all included in the selection index. However, there was no difference between the lines in the weight distribution of subcutaneous fat between six regions and so these shifts must have been very localized. There was no difference between lines in the relationship between P2 fat thickness and proportion of lean in the side.The effects of selection on the sites of deposition within tissues other than subcutaneous fat were small. In particular there was no evidence that selection has caused relocation of body fat from subcutaneous to the other sites.

Increasing the milk productivity of cows is the main task facing the livestock industry of our country. The study of some hematological and biochemical blood parameters in dairy cows when different feed additives are included in their rations is an urgent research task. The purpose of the investigations was to study the hematological and biochemical parameters of the blood of lactating cows when using different feed additives in the ration. During the investigations, the influence of feed additives such as Zaslon 2+ (at a dose of 20 g/head/day to the main ration), Diatomite (100 g/head/day to the main ration) and Monosporin (70 g/head/day to the main ration) on the hematological and biochemical blood parameters of lactating cows has been observed. The studied feed additives are used for the adsorption of mycotoxins in feed, normalization of digestive processes, and improvement of the livability and productivity of farm animals. In order to study the influence of the tested feed additives on the hematological parameters of the blood of lactating cows under the conditions of the Troitsky area in the Chelyabinsk region, on four groups of cows selected according to the principle of analogues (age, live weight, productivity, breed, physiological condition) the scientific and economic experiment has been carried out. As the result of the investigations, data have been obtained indicating that the feed additive Zaslon 2+ at the dose of 20 g/head/day has the greatest effect on the metabolism in the body of lactating cows.

Postpartum stress is very likely to take place as there are fluctuations in terms of feelings, pressure, anxiety, and guilt that may result in hypogalactia without proper treatment. Hypogalactia itself is an issue breastfeeding mothers face that may stall toddlers’ growth, and hence, the future of a nation. This research aims to lower stress levels in hypogalactia cases. It employs nor pharmacological methods of electric and massage stimulation models to activate the biomechanical, psychological, and neurological systems within the body. The electric stimulation model was performed for 10 minutes in acupoints SI, ST, and SP at 0.5 watts frequency. Meanwhile, the massage stimulation was performed for 30 minutes in acupoints GB, BL, ST, CV, and ST. Samples were divided into intervention and control groups, both characteristics and difference tests were performed. Paired t-test results show that there is a significant difference (p<0.05) in stress level with the treatment using both electric and massage stimulation models. Meanwhile, the unpaired t-test results also show differences in stress levels before and after treatment for each group, but the mean difference shows a decrease of 6.249. Therefore, it can be concluded that both electric and massage stimulation models lower stress levels for hypogalactia cases.
