This research has the primary aim of describing the symptoms and factors that cause burnout and affect self-esteem on the performance of lecturers in the execution of quality management in higher education, and the secondary aim of obtaining a formula for burnout dan self-esteem that can depict the emotional condition or feelings of lecturers toward their performance. The approach used in this research in this research was qualitative-descriptive. Data analysis was conducted during and after data collection. Research results showed that the primary cause of burnout is not stress, but imbalance in mental processes (thinking, feeling, behaving). The primary cause of a low self-esteem is the character of the individual in the inability to control emotions. This research also produced a formula in the form of a scale to measure burnout using the two dimensions of (a) emotional exhaustion and (b) cognitive distortion. Meanwhile, the formula for self-esteem utilizes the two dimensions of (a) confidence and (b) the reduction of confidence.

This research describes the role of Muhammadiyah organizations in fostering Islamic communities in Enrekang Regency. The problems examined in this paper are focused on the development of Muhammadiyah in Enrekang Regency and the role of Muhammadiyah organizations through the charity of its efforts in fostering the Islamic community in Enrekang Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using historical, sociological, cultural, religious and educational approaches. The instruments used in this study were researchers doing with aids in the form of interview guidelines, cameras and voice recorders. The data analysis technique used is a descriptive data analysis. The results showed that Muhammadiyah association quickly developed branches and branches to all corners of the village, several educational business charities established ranging from paud/kindergarten level to higher education, and the growing number of Muhammadiyah members and sympathizers. The construction of the Muhammadiyah Alliance through branches and branches and charitable efforts in fostering Islamic society slowly shifted the religious attitude of the community coloured by the traditions of Hinduism, animism and dynamism (shirk) to the Tauhid faith.

Smartphones are an integral part of people’s life. The aim of the study was to expand the knowledge on the individual determinants of “phubbing.” Two dimensions of phubbing—communication disturbance and phone obsession—were taken into consideration. We tested the model of relations between phubbing, self-esteem, loneliness, and satisfaction with life. We administered the Phubbing Scale, the Facebook Intrusion Scale, the Loneliness Scale, the Satisfaction With Life Scale, and the Self-Esteem Scale. The participants in the online study were 597 Polish users of mobile phones, with a mean age of M = 21.22 ( SD = 6.52, range: 16–78). The results showed Facebook intrusion to be a cause of phubbing. Women scored higher than men on both dimensions of phubbing. A low level of self-esteem and satisfaction with life predicted Facebook intrusion. Additionally, a low level of loneliness was a predictor of Facebook intrusion, which in turn was a predictor of loneliness. The results demonstrate the multidimensional nature of phubbing and suggest new directions for future studies.

The importance of this article is dictated by the necessity to adopt the Bologna standard of higher education including the module system into the frame of the Ukrainian university network. The author gives a brief review of the development of the quality concept and approaches, which have been made to integrate it into higher education management. The article sets out the new scheme of individual work of student management seen as part of the general management process.

The article analyzes the directions of the formation of humanistic values in higher education institutions. The results of the study showed that students have a high attitude to humanistic values, regardless of the level of self-affirmation and self-esteem. The main mechanisms of formation of humanistic values in students depend on the provocative features of social values, which occupy a dominant place in the hierarchy of values and professional self-confidence, which reflects the integrated qualities of the individual. It was found that there is a positive correlation between humanistic qualities and personal qualities and academic achievements.  There is an important connection between self-awareness, self-esteem, self-assertion and a social ideal that reflects humanistic qualities in students. It can be concluded that in order to develop humanistic values, it is necessary to develop socially important values and personality traits. Here it is necessary to take into account the cognitive needs, opportunities for self-affirmation, as well as learning achievements.

Abstract. Background: Self-esteem is a major contributor to risk for repeated suicide attempts. Prior research has shown that awareness of stigma is associated with reduced self-esteem among people with mental illness. No prior studies have examined the association between self-esteem and stereotype awareness among individuals with past suicide attempts. Aims: To understand the relationship between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among young adults who have and have not attempted suicide. Method: Computerized surveys were administered to college students (N = 637). Linear regression analyses were used to test associations between self-esteem and stereotype awareness, attempt history, and their interaction. Results: There was a significant stereotype awareness by attempt interaction (β = –.74, p = .006) in the regression analysis. The interaction was explained by a stronger negative association between stereotype awareness and self-esteem among individuals with past suicide attempts (β = –.50, p = .013) compared with those without attempts (β = –.09, p = .037). Conclusion: Stigma is associated with lower self-esteem within this high-functioning sample of young adults with histories of suicide attempts. Alleviating the impact of stigma at the individual (clinical) or community (public health) levels may improve self-esteem among this high-risk population, which could potentially influence subsequent suicide risk.

Abstract. The importance of various trait dimensions explaining positive global self-esteem has been the subject of numerous studies. While some have provided support for the importance of agency, others have highlighted the importance of communion. This discrepancy can be explained, if one takes into account that people define and value their self both in individual and in collective terms. Two studies ( N = 367 and N = 263) examined the extent to which competence (an aspect of agency), morality, and sociability (the aspects of communion) promote high self-esteem at the individual and the collective level. In both studies, competence was the strongest predictor of self-esteem at the individual level, whereas morality was the strongest predictor of self-esteem at the collective level.
