The article deals with the study of the possibility of applying Pilates exercises for optimization of the functional state of students’ bodies by performing the basic principles of technology and its implementation in students’ educational process. The characteristic of basic Pilates exercises is given. Among those exercises are: twisting, body-rocking, and strain of the spine bone. Methods of research. During the study the methods that allow us to assess the dynamics of the functional state of the body (determination of heart rate, blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), hypoxic samples «Stange and Genchi», the Rufier tese, the Kerdo index, Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, assessment of general state, activity and mood) were applied. The results presented indicate the effectiveness of the Pilates exercises implementation in the program on the subject «Physical Culture» for optimization the functional state and improvement of bodies of female students at the age of 17-20 years. It is concluded that this set of exercises increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, physical performance, as well as reduce the level of state and trait anxiety, and the activity of the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system.

An indicators analysis of the first-graders functional state and vegetative homeostasis obtained in the initial period of adaptation to the educational environment revealed gender differences in the rates of the adaptation process to new learning conditions. It has been established that girls’ adaptation mechanisms turn on earlier than boys’, with their similar orientation. The article provides an experimental justification of the indicators use legitimacy for heart rate variability to assess the functional state of the body in the acute period of adaptation to the educational environment. The importance of teacher physiological literacy for the optimization of the educational process is substantiated. The results of the study are convincing evidence of the knowledge importance for the physiological foundations of the occurrence and course of physiological and mental processes, stable individual psycho-physiological characteristics for the organization of the learning environment, corresponding to the functional capabilities of the body. This argument is also confirmed by many years of experience among master students key competencies development, which allow using such an objective criterion as the current functional state of the body to ensure, through the joint efforts of parents, teachers, psychologists, and doctors, the correction of the educational environment and psycho-physiological resistance of individual to it. The established differences in the dynamics of heart rate variability indicators for girls and boys can be used to form a health-saving program in school settings.

In the Proceedings of the Royal Society (vol. xxiv. p. 393) Dr Royston-Pigott described a new refractometer to determine the index of refraction of liquids and other substances by means of the displacement of the focal point of an object seen through them with a low magnifying-power. Another paper on the subject was communicated by him to the Royal Microscopical Society, and subsequently published its Journal. After the reading of this paper I said that it appeared me probable that the same principle might be applied with advantage the determination of the index of refraction of minerals. The chief question was how to make the requisite measurements by means of such a addition to an ordinary microscope as would not in any way interfere with its general use for other purposes. This I accomplished by fixing graduated scale to the body of the microscope and a vernier to the supporting arm, so that the position of the focal point can be read off to within about 1/2000 of an inch. I described this arrangement and pointed out its value in connexion with mineralogy at a meeting of the Mineralogical Society last March, and an account of it was published in the Journal of the Society. I have since learned that a very similar addition was made to a microscope in Professor Clifton’s laboratory at Oxford some eight years ago, and used for the measurement of the index of refraction of glass, but no account of it was ever published. When I came to study the index of refraction of doubly refracting minerals I was very soon struck with the fact that, instead of seeing at one focus the two systems of lines at right angles to each other, they were sometimes quite invisible, or one set was seen at one focus, and the whether at a very different, as though they had been ruled on the two opposite sides of a piece of glass. These curious phenomena were exhibited at the soirée of the Royal Society on the 25th of April last, and Processor Stokes immediately examined the question theoretically, and found that they could be explained by, and might have been predicted from, the known laws of double refraction, though apparently no one had ever studied them, either theoretically or practically. We therefore decided to investigate the problem independently. I was to make the practical observations, and he to give the theoretical explanations, the results being kept separate, but communicated conjointly to the Royal Society.

The aim of this research was to identify levels of participation in recreational activities in children living under the protection of children's shelter in Karaman province. Then, determine their decision making, trait anxiety and burnout levels in terms of psychosocial variables. In this qualitative study, research group consisted of 31 children between the ages of 7-18 who are protected in 6 children’s shelter which are under the control of the ministry of Family and Social Policies, coordination center of children’s shelter in Karaman. In the direction of expert guidance, the sampling group consisted of a house among 6 children’s shelter where children reside between the ages of 15-17 with 5 children capacity. Besides personal information questions, qualitative questions formed with the guidance of decision making scale, spielberger state and trait anxiety scale and maslach burnout inventory-student survey were asked the sampling group. Four themes which were recreation, decision making, trait anxiety and burnout were emerged after thematic content coding. Findings indicate that participants need more social and sportive recreational activities. Participants have positive mood, happy and their burnout level is low. They take their own decisions even they consult around people caring them. They also do not regret after their decisions. Despite they have no concern about their occupation in future due to their confidence themselves. They have nervouspsyschological structure because of their possible conflicts with their parents. Hence, it is possible that their anxiety and burnout levels can reach high level.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetBu çalışmanın amacı, Karaman ili bünyesindeki çocuk evlerinde korunma altına alınan çocukların rekreatif faaliyetlere katılım düzeylerinin belirlenerek bu bağlamda, yaşamlarının psiko-sosyal açıdan incelenip, elde edilen verilere göre karar verme, sürekli kaygı ile tükenmişlik düzeylerini belirlemektir. The prevention of different diseases among students must be based on the need for the individualization of all health saving technologies with taking into account the type of constitution, dynamics of its development, interrelation with the physical activity and the functional state. Purpose of the work is to give the characteristic of somatotypes of the constitution of the students-youths of the Irkutsk region with taking into account special features of their functional state. There were examined 1014 students-youths aged of 17-20 years, referred due to the health status for the occupations by physical culture to the I -1 (basic) functional group and 275 students referred to IV group (group Curable Physical Culture). For somatotyping and constitutional diagnostics there was used the procedure by R.N. Dorokhov, V.G. Petrukhina (1989). There were established significant differences in the types of constitution in the youths of the I and IV functional groups. This is manifested by the fact that microsomic (MiS) type youths are recorded in the IV functional group by 2 times less frequent than in the I group, but by 1.4 time more frequent than macrosomic (MaS) students. There was revealed the large number of youths referred to transitional somatotypes who have the retarded variant of the development. The component content of the body of youths in both functional groups according to the bone mass is somewhat lower than standard, fat is above standard in both groups, muscular mass is in limits of standard range in the I functional group and is descended in the IV group. In a somatotypologic set of both functional groups from MiS to MegS to type there is noted a reduction of the absolute and relative content of muscular mass and the gain of fat. The insufficient content of muscular mass in students of IV functional group is related with their low physical activity, that is confirmed by reliably poor development of the muscular force of right and left wrist of hands.

Czech didactics of geography (teaching/learning geography) has just started its fifth wave in training geography educators at eight university faculties. The current debate is on developing a curriculum emphasizing the position of geography education as the applied discipline of the science/art of geography. 'Challenge for 10 million' is a national debate on the Czech educational system organized by the governmental Dept. of Schools, Youth and Physical Culture, being very critical to teaching geography at primary and secondary schools. That is the reason for the strong re-assessment of social, environmental/ecological, economic, cultural and political relevance on the subject of geography in the educational process. This discourse is also intended for international communication starting in the educational commission of IGUIUGI.

This article is dedicated to the analysis of interrelation between professional identity and creativity of the students of psychological disciplines at different stages of educational process. The subject of this research is the correlation of professional identity and creativity of the students of psychological disciplines. The goal consists in determination of the structure of interrelation between the statuses of professional identity and creativity parameter of the students at different stages of educational process. The conducted survey included 124 students of psychological disciplines from Novosibirsk State Technical University and Siberian State Transport University of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of education. For data collection, the author used the following psychodiagnostic tools: E. P. Torrance’s test of nonverbal creativity; S. Mednick’s test for “Diagnostics of Verbal Creativity”; A. A. Azbel’s and A. G. Gretsov’s methodology for studying the statuses of professional identity; L. B. Schneider’s methodology for studying professional identity. The research demonstrates the presence of correlations between the parameters of verbal creativity (uniqueness) and vague status of professional identity parameters of imagery creativity (resistance to reservations) and formed status of professional identity; parameters of imagery creativity (development and resistance to reservations), and imposed status of professional identity. It was determined that the structures of interrelation between the statuses of professional activity and creativity parameters differ among the students of different years of education. The senior students show stronger correlations between the statuses of professional identity and creativity parameters.
