Violation of the process of urination in cats is a fairly common reason for owners to contact veterinary clinics. The development of an adequate treatment method for urethral obstruction, based on the pathogenesis of the disease and taking into account the anatomical structure of the cat's urinary sys-tem, remains an urgent task of modern veterinary medicine. Cystotomy with suturing of the catheter and subsequent detoxification therapy can achieve complete recovery, as the cause of blockage of the urethra is eliminated.

Background: Hypoglycemia may rarely present as hemiparesis and sometimes it is difficult to differentiate from ischemic stroke. When random blood sugar (RBS) value is between 50 and 80 mg % in patients presenting with focal neurological deficit, no guideline exists to consider the possibility of hypoglycemia before initiating thrombolytic therapy. Clinical Case: A 58-year-old male, who was a known case of diabetes and hypertension, was brought to the emergency room with acute onset of right hemiparesis and dysarthria of 90 minutes duration. His NIHSS Score was 9, blood pressure was 150/90 mm of Hg and RBS was 79 mg% on admission. His CT scan brain was normal and was considered for thrombolysis. Resident doctor not aware of previous sugar repeated RBS before thrombolysis which was surprisingly 60 mg% 60 minutes after the first RBS. Even though he was a candidate for thrombolysis, intravenous 25 % dextrose was administered considering the possibility of hypoglycemia. He made a complete recovery within 20 minutes and thrombolytic therapy was withheld. : In Diabetic patients with focal neurological deficit and RBS less than 80 mg% on admission, RBS should be rechecked and in appropriate cases should be challenged with IV dextrose considering the possibility of hypoglycemia before commencing thrombolytic therapy.

Abstract Background Heterotopic ossification (HO) is noted most frequently in periarticular muscles and has not yet been reported in the cruciate ligaments of the knee. We present a rare case of symptomatic ossification of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Case presentation A 59-year-old woman had a 2-year history of knee pain that was getting worse during knee motion and had restricted knee motion for 1 year. X-rays could not show the lesion clearly. Multi-planar computed tomography demonstrated ossification within the PCL with mild osteoarthritic changes and excluded any other intra-articular pathology. The patient underwent arthroscopic debridement and then experienced immediate relief of pain and complete recovery of range of motion. Conclusion This is the first report of HO in the PCL as a possible cause of knee pain and restricted knee motion. On the basis of literature review, this case elaborates the difference between HO and calcification in the ligaments, the related factors inducing HO and the undefined pathogenesis, and favorable prognosis after adequate treatment.

Background The potential morbidity and mortality of sphenoid sinus infectious processes are related to their proximity to vital structures within the orbit, such as the cavernous sinus and the brain. Involvement of the posterior orbit can result in superior orbital fissure syndrome, a rare entity affecting structures that cross this anatomic region. Early recognition of this syndrome is mandatory. Delays in adequate treatment may compromise the patient's prognosis. Methods We present two cases of incomplete superior orbital fissure syndrome due to infectious processes of the posterior ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses. Conclusions In our experience, endoscopic decompression of the lamina papyracea shows complete recovery of extrinsic ocular motility in these patients and should be combined with intravenous antibiotic therapy.

Subject. With the advent of advanced imaging technology and CAD/CAM technologies, the possibility of guided surgery has become of wide interest among implantology. The article is devoted to the use of surgical template implantation in the rehabilitation of a dental patient. It provides information about some advantages and disadvantages of the digital protocol in comparison with traditional dental implantation. The main stages of navigation surgery in a clinical case are described. Goal. To evaluate the actual clinical advantages and disadvantages of dental implant placement using a surgical template compared to the traditional treatment protocol. Methodology. The literature search was conducted in scientific search bibliographic databases such as PubMed, eLIBRARY, Medline, and Google Academy. More than 384 studies up to 2014 were found under the thematic headings "Dental implantation" and "Surgical template". During the study of these works, the sample included 56 articles and literature reviews. Conclusions. Recently, implant placement using a surgical template has become a popular treatment method among dental surgeons. The study of modern literature allowed us to formulate the main advantages and disadvantages of this method. Advantages of the method: precise positioning of implants; flap-free surgery reduces the operation time and is characterized by a favorable postoperative course; integration of restoration determinants in surgical planning, which leads to a more aesthetic, functional and predictable result of prosthetics; the possibility of pre-manufacturing a prosthesis based on the planned position of the implant; simplification of the surgical procedure for the dentist. However, this method is not without its drawbacks: the surgeon's inability to visualize anatomical structures; the risk of axis and depth deviation during implant placement; requires additional digital planning.

Aureomycin, in doses of 20 mg./kg. body weight, was as effective in the treatment of mice infected with H. influenzae, type B, as streptomycin and dihydrostreptomycin, and more effective than polymyxin or Q-19. Two infants with H. influenzae, type B, meningitis were treated successfully with aureomycin and sulfadiazine. Spinal fluid cultures became negative and marked clinical improvement occurred within 48 hours. Both patients went on to complete recovery. Three children were treated with aureomycin alone. Although their response to treatment was not so rapid as that of the infants treated with aureomycin and sulfadiazine, rccovery was assured within four to seven days and subsequently there were no evidences of residual damage. No serious toxic reactions to aureomycin were apparent. A sixth patient, desperately ill on admission, succumbed within 36 hours in spite of adequate treatment with combined aureomycin and sulfadiazine.

Relevance. Skeletal Class III malocclusion is one of the most difficult to correct. Genetics, environmental factors, and postembryonic development influence its etiology. Sagittal expansion of the upper jaw will ensure the correct position of the lower jaw, which in turn will improve the patient's aesthetic parameters and health. The study examines a treatment method using the Fixed anterior growth guidance appliance (FAGGA).Materials and methods. This clinical case presents a 21-year-old male with skeletal class III due to maxillary bone deficiency. The patient refused surgery to increase the size of the upper jaw and opted for orthodontic treatment. The latter was performed using a Fixed anterior growth guidance appliance (FAGGA), followed by a rapid palatal (maxillary) expansion (RME) and brackets. We removed the FAGGA after eight months. The profile and occlusion improved.Results. The change in the inclination and protrusion of the maxillary incisors improved the profile. We received 2mm of space behind the upper right canine and 1.5mm of space behind the left one and the SNA angle increased by 2 degrees. The treatment continues with RME and brackets.Conclusions. An increase in inclination and protrusion of the maxillary incisors and a slight skeletal change improved the aesthetic parameters of the facial area.

IntroductionMethylphenidate drugs is prescribed in attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity. Among its rare side effects, include alterations in the gynecological. We report a clinical case and review current evidence regarding the tolerability this drug in this area.MethodsWe performed a PubMed search of articles published in English of different types (case reports or case/controls studies). We collected the clinical practice guidelines conclusions regarding adverse drug reactions.Case presentationOur patient is a 14-year-old male diagnosed of ADHD treated with methylphenidate (0.8–1 mg\kg). He developed bilateral and asymmetric gynecomastia under this treatment plan so a referral was made to rule out other causes of this event. After performing several work up tests, it was concluded that this clinical presentation was caused by methylphenidate. Hence, we initiated crossed titration swapping this drug to atomoxetine. Four months later, he was mentally stable and he experimented a volumetric decrease as concerns his gynecomastia. As regards methylphenidate, in 2009 a couple of cases in which alterations in the sexual sphere presented with the oros presentation were reported. There are series of reported pharmacological side effects (gynecomastia) and also denoted an improvement of the same months after drug discontinuation.ConclusionsGynecological clinic secondary to the use of psychotropic drugs in ADHD is uncommon. In line with our case, the current evidence suggests a drug suspension as adverse effects are usually reversible (although it may take several months to complete recovery). Further studies are needed to understand the mechanisms underlying these tolerability issues.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

With economic development and population growth, the demand for fresh water resources is also increasing. However, affected by sewage discharge from industry, agriculture, mining and domestic, not only the ecological environment and natural resources are seriously damaged, but also the water resources available for people to drink are decreasing day by day. How to improve the water pollution treatment technology has become an urgent task. Because of the high cost and great limitation, the traditional treatment method has no significant effect in water pollution control. As an advanced oxidation technology, photocatalyst can effectively degrade pollutants in water pollution, and has a positive effect on improving water quality, protecting natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.

A three year-old female sheep was presented to the Clinic of Farm Animals, School of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with mild nasal seromucous discharge and progressive weight loss, while rectal temperature was normal. Hematological examination revealed mild leukocytosis, while traces of hemoglobin and protein were found in urinalysis. The animal was euthanized and forwarded for necropsy. An extremely enlarged, nodular right kidney, whose renal parenchyma was completely replaced by multiple abscesses, was the remarkable finding of the necropsy. Microbiological and molecular examinations were performed to establish the diagnosis and rule out Maedi/Visna infection. Tissue samples from the kidney and other organs were, also, examined histologically. Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis was isolated in microbiological tests. A kidney infection by C. pseudotuberculosis, presented as a clinical case with scant symptoms, is discussed in this case report.
