BACKGROUND: The State-Federal Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program provides rehabilitation services to people with disabilities with the intention of assisting them in securing competitive employment. The VR services offer substantial resources to help individuals who are hard-of-hearing to enhance their quality of life and employment opportunities. OBJECTIVE: The current study investigated the impact of demographic variables and the use of VR services on employment outcomes among hard-of-hearing consumers. Specific VR services that lead to successful employment among hard-of-hearing consumers were thoroughly examined. METHODS: Binary logistic regression, Chi-square, and Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detector analyses were used to analyze the data extracted from the 2014 fiscal year US. Department of Education Rehabilitation Service Administration Case Service Report (RSA-911). RESULTS: Logistic regression reveals that VR services such as diagnosis and treatment of impairments (p-value 0.000), counseling, and guidance (p-value 0.000), and rehabilitation technology (p-value 0.000) were influential factors in determining the successful employment outcome among the consumers. The relative importance of the factors based on the mean decrease in accuracy in CHAID identifies rehabilitation technology (0.264), diagnosis and treatment of impairments (0.090), job placement assistance (0.016), transportation (0.016), and secondary disability (0.010) to be among the most contributing factors. CONCLUSION: Overall, rehabilitation technology services were especially beneficial, particularly for minority consumers, in achieving a successful employment outcome.

Objective This retrospective study was performed to assess the clinical and radiological variables associated with proximal type IA endoleak (EL) in patients treated with elective endovascular repair for abdominal aortic aneurysms. Methods The chi-square test, t-test, and logistic regression analysis were performed as appropriate. A P value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results The data of 79 patients were analyzed. No mortality occurred. During follow-up (median, 28.5 months; interquartile range, 12.8–43.0 months), 10 patients developed type IA EL. In the logistic regression analysis, undersizing of the endograft diameter by <10% significantly affected the occurrence of type IA EL. When the diameter was used for measurements, less oversizing was significantly associated with a higher risk of type IA EL. When the area was used for measurements, oversizing of >20% significantly affected the occurrence of type IA EL. Conclusion When sizing endografts, a discrepancy was noted between the measurements of the diameter and area of the proximal neck. The area might represent a more accurate measurement than the axial diameter to optimize the proximal sealing and lower the risk of developing type IA EL.

The purpose of this study was to descriptively explore the service provision of transition-aged youth in a state vocational rehabilitation (VR) agency and to determine if predictor variables could be identified for successful employment outcomes through logistic regression. At closure, more than half the participants were closed successfully in competitive employment. The majority were working in service, clerical and sales, or professional/technical/ managerial positions after receiving VR services focused on understanding the consumer's needs and creating appropriate plans, preparing for a job, obtaining a job and then retaining employment. Implications for transition and rehabilitation practice include the necessity o[specific transition-related training for VR counselors.

Abstract Objectives The association between inflammation, malnutrition, and cancer is not well understood. The aim of this study was to examine the association between inflammatory-type cancer and diagnosed malnutrition, albumin level, and age in patients with cancer. Methods Malnutrition and cancer diagnoses were obtained using data from hospital medical records in patients admitted for cancer between Oct. 2017 and Dec. 2018. Demographics, as well as the first and lowest albumin levels were also obtained. A simple t-test is processed between age and malnutrition status. Also a chi-square test of independence was performed to examine the relation between malnutrition and hypoalbuminemia status. Logistic regression was conducted between malnutrition status, sarcoma cancer, age, and hypoalbuminemia. Results The study included 4034 patients (2084 males, 1949 females). Approximately 4% of the patients were diagnosed with malnutrition. Logistic regression on malnutrition status, sarcoma, age, and hypoalbuminemia showed a significant association on global test (3, 2433, P-value = 0.013). Hypoalbuminemia (< 3.9 g/dL lower-limit) was significantly associated with malnutrition (X2 1, 2433 P-value = 0.0156). Sarcoma diagnosis was not significantly associated with malnutrition (X2 1, 2433 P-value = 0.267). Age is not significantly related to malnutrition status (X2 1, 2433 p-value = 0.449). A t-test was also performed malnutrition vs no malnutrition on age, resulting in a marginally significant association for malnutrition group (M = 65.33, SD = 15.50) vs no malnutrition group (M = 67.32, SD = 17.55) (t(1) = 3.7212, P = 0.0537). Conclusions Sarcoma is not significantly associated with an increased risk of malnutrition. Cancer patients with hypoalbuminemia have a higher risk for malnutrition compared to the patients with normal albumin level. Additionally, age may be a predictor for cancer patients’ risk of in-hospital malnutrition. Funding Sources None.

Background: Obtaining and maintaining suitable employment can be a significant challenge for people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Objective: The objective of this article is to identify what vocational rehabilitation (VR) services helped MS clients obtain and maintain employment, after controlling for the effect of demographic covariates and disability-related government benefits. Methods: We retrieved data from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) 911 database in the fiscal year (FY) 2009, and used VR services as predictors to predict employment outcomes of people with MS by hierarchical logistic regression. Results: A total of 924 out of 1920 MS clients (48.1%) were successfully employed after receiving VR services. Logistic regression analysis results indicated that cash benefits (OR =0.51, p < 0.001) and public medical benefits (OR =0.76, p < 0.01) were negatively associated with employment outcomes, whereas counseling and guidance (OR = 1.68, p < 0.001), job placement assistance (OR = 2.43, p < 0.001), on-the-job supports (OR = 1.62, p < 0.01), maintenance services (OR = 1.59, p < 0.01), and assistive technology services (OR =2.09, p < 0.001) were significant predictors of positive employment outcomes. Conclusion: VR services were found to be associated with employment status. MS patients experiencing problems obtaining or maintaining employment should be encouraged to pursue services from state VR agencies.

The results of the Indonesian Health Demographic Survey in 2017 show that the maternal mortality rate that occurs in Indonesia is 305 / 100.000 live births. This figure is still high and quite far from the target of the Sustainable Development Goals program. One of the factors contributing to the high maternal mortality in Indonesia is due to bleeding caused by anemia during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with anemia in pregnant women. The population in this study were all pregnant women who performed pregnancy examinations at the Mpunda Public Health Center in Bima City for the period of April-May 2020. The number of sample data was 121 using purposive collection techniques. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test and logistic regression. The results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and Antenatal Care (ANC) visits with a p value of 0.028 and 0.022. Meanwhile, age, parity and consumption pattern of Fe tablets did not correlate with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women with p value > 0.05. The logistic regression test results show that the knowledge variable has the greatest influence on the incidence of anemia in pregnant women with an OR value of 2.385. It is hoped that health workers will provide information about the importance of conducting regular antenatal care and intensify the provision of information counseling and education about anemia, so that pregnant women are expected to be able to prevent, detect and manage anemia independently.

Abstract Background and objectives: Hypertension is a major public health problem with raising its prevalence and effect among adults overtime worldwide, especially in Bangladesh. The aim is to investigate the effect of diabetes on hypertension.Materials and methods: The dataset used in this study was extracted from Bangladesh Demographic Health Survey, 2017-18 having a total of 6,965 (male: 3,376 and female: 3,589) adults whose ages were B35 years. Bivariate analysis along with Pearson’s chi-square test was executed to observe the association between different selected factors and hypertension. Additionally, binary logistic regression was employed to investigate the effect of diabetes on hypertension based on adjusted odds ratio (AOR) along with p-value in Bangladesh. Results: The results of the study revealed that average age of the participants was 51.04a12.731 and a total of 34.7 percent participants were identified as hypertension. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that diabetic patients were 1.280 times (95% CI of AOR: 1.107-1.479; p-value=0.001) higher risk of hypertension compared to non-diabetic. Furthermore, our finding’s also showed that diabetic patient who was 35–49 years age, 1.462 times (95% CI of AOR: 1.182-1.807; p-value=0.000) higher risk of hypertension compared to age groups ≥50 years. Conclusions: Based on the results, this study claimed that people with diabetes was significantly associated with hypertension. This study suggested greater attention of government and policymakers to make appropriate strategies to reduce hypertension as well as associated risk in Bangladesh.

The purpose of this research was to identify disparities in proportions of cases “successfully closed” (status 26 only) into competitive jobs based on ethnicity (Latino vs. non-Latino). Case records (n=1 ,224) from the RSA-911 database, fiscal year 1997, were obtained and evaluated for consumers who were deaf with less than 12 years of education. A logistic regression analysis and chi-square tests were utilized to investigate potential relationships. Results indicated that significantly more non-Latino consumers who were deaf achieved competitive jobs compared to Latino consumers who were deaf. Findings also indicated that a significantly greater proportion of those consumers who were deaf provided with counseling and job placement services achieved competitive jobs compared to consumers who did not receive these services. Finally, results suggested that a significantly lower proportion of those vocational rehabilitation services found to be significantly associated with competitive jobs (i.e., job placement) were provided to Latino consumers who were deaf. Results are presented for competitive jobs and the implications of findings for service and research are discussed.

Chronic diarrhea is defecation with a frequency of 3 or more times in infants and children lasting for 14 days. The impact of diarrheal disease in general causes loss of fluid in the body (dehydration) and chronic diarrhea can cause a child to experience poor nutritional status and experience growth failure. This study uses a case-control design using a retrospective approach. The number of samples in this study was 135 respondents. Instruments for collecting data in the form of questionnaires and observations. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate using the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression. The statistical test results obtained p-value on the variables of clean water supply (0.007), latrine ownership (0.001), sewerage system (0.04), confidence degree 95% Confidence Interval (95% CI) and p-value ˂ 0, 05, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship with chronic diarrheal disease in infants. The results of multiple logistic regression tests, on the variable wastewater discharge obtained OR = 3.801, meaning that sewerage is closely related to causing chronic diarrheal disease in infants.
