This paper investigates the existence of a campus supportive teaching culture in a Vietnamese public university that can facilitate good teaching, basing on three research questions aiming to find out: (1) the availability of supportive teaching activities at campus and (2) the effectiveness of such practices from lecturers’ perspectives and (3) the demand for similar or more activities for teaching excellence. The study was conducted in the form of a survey, with data gathered via an online questionnaire. From data analysis and findings, a number of methods are suggested to enhance or establish a supportive teaching culture in other Vietnamese universities accordingly.

Background. In this research, we aimed to investigate the effects of outdoor camps on orienteering athletes. Methods. The study group consisted of 74 athletes (44 males and 30 females, aged 11.94 ± 1.32 years) who participated in Bolu outdoor camp on the 3 rd –13 th of August, 2015. Interview technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used as data collection tool and content analysis method was used for data analysis. Results. Demographic factors were interpreted after the analysis of the obtained data and three main research questions were discussed under the topics of the views of athletes about the concept of Orienteering which is an outdoor sport, themes and codes regarding the purpose of Orienteering by the students who participated in the outdoor camp, and themes and codes about the outcomes of Orienteering for the students who participated in outdoor camps. Conclusion. It is suggested that a policy must be developed within the Ministry of Youth and Sport and Sport Federations in order to disseminate more deliberate and more comprehensive outdoor education among young people and measures should be taken to provide extensive participation.

AbstractThe paper reports on a study that aims to gain an understanding of how senior engineering design students engage and attain throughout the various stages of the design process during a major design project. Following a literature review it sets out to answer 3 main research questionsQ1. Do students engage more with certain stages of the design process during major project work?;Q2. Do students attain better during certain phases of the design process during major project ?Q3. Is there a difference in this attainment between year groups of the same degree programme ?The methodology adopted employs an analysis of marks and an online questionnaire to collect data. Patterns and trends in how senior BEng and MEng Product Design Engineering students engage and attain within the design process are presented, identified and discussed and in turn used to inform reflection on the research questions set.

Investigations of music in everyday life are dominated by a functional perspective, drawn from work using the theory of Uses and Gratifications. In so doing, we may have neglected to fully appreciate the value people place on music listening. Therefore, the present study considered if, and why, people value music listening and probed instances when they may not want to listen to music in everyday life. A sample of 319 university students residing in Australia (76.50% female, M age = 20.64) completed an online questionnaire, on which they were asked to provide short responses to open-ended questions directly addressing two research questions. Inductive thematic analysis yielded 13 themes synthesizing how participants valued listening to music, such as appreciation, emotion, time and engagement, cognitive factors, and mood regulation. Reasons for not listening to music were summarized by eight themes dominated by interference with activities that required focus or concentration, followed by environmental context, affective responses, music engagement and inversely, a preference for silence or other auditory stimuli. Fifteen percent of participants stated there was never a time they did not want to listen to music. The findings provide a novel perspective on the value of music listening beyond that considered by uses and gratifications with regard to the function of listening to music in everyday life.

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, and other groups (LGBTQ+) within Canada. This research aimed to explore the experiences of LGBTQ+ Canadians in relation to their nutritional needs, practices, and supports during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The qualitative study was framed within a poststructuralism and queer theory paradigm and consisted of an online questionnaire. Participants were recruited and asked to complete open-ended questions. Responses were coded using thematic analysis. Results: Seventy participants completed the questionnaire. Data analysis resulted in 3 major themes, including (i) (dis)comforts of food and eating, (ii) shifting views of food and food practices, and (iii) what supports? The themes revealed that many LGBTQ+ individuals experienced stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a time in which their views and practices of food, cooking, and eating were changed. Nutritional supports were discussed in terms of family, friends, and partners. Conclusion: The findings highlight the complexity to the meanings people give to food, cooking, and eating during stressful times. It is recommended that dietitians familiarize themselves with the experiences of LGBTQ+ people, especially during times of global health emergencies to ensure equitable health care for LGBTQ+ communities.

The objective of this research focuses on students perceptions toward grammar in the English classroom. This research uses the qualitative descriptive method, the procedure for collecting data uses questionnaire analysis in google forms free online questionnaire. The population is 30 students in class TEI C at SMK TI Pembangunan Cimahi. The sample is 30 students. The results of the data analysis showed that 60% of students stongly agree that grammar in the English classroom important, while the other 40% agree. In addition 96% of students admit that their need to increase English grammar. The most dominant of students perceptions grammar showed to increase skills on grammar 96% of students choose to agree on statements. The findings revealed that students perceived differently toward grammar in the English classroom.CeivedKeywords: Students Perceptions, Grammar English.

This research was carried out to explore the layoff situation among the Airline industry during the COVID-19 pandemic and suggest the alternative strategies that would consider by the Airline company. The method used in this research is an online questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents as the primary data collection and the secondary data analysis from the empirical studies that can obtain from electronic and non-electronic media. The findings of this research indicated that one of the suggested alternative strategies, Furlough, is the most recommended one. However, Attrition and Hiring Freeze strategy has less recommended because of the low effectiveness of this strategy on downsizing companies. The study enables the airline company to consider the alternative strategies on their downsizing policy in order to minimize the employees and company loss.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education of China issued a call for “School is Out, but Class is On”. Various regions responded to and issued relevant policies to use Internet educational resources to carry out teaching activities. In this context, we conducted a network questionnaire survey on district and county education administrators, school administrators, teachers, students, and parents nationwide. It aimed to understand the online teaching situation and the attitudes of different subjects towards online teaching during the “School is Out, but Class is On” period. Based on this, we summarized the problems existing in online teaching during the “School is Out, but Class is On” period and put forward countermeasures to better serve online teaching, to ensure the healthy development of online teaching after the pandemic, and to provide a reference for coordinating national forces to carry out online teaching in response to unforeseen public crises in the future.

Study of statistical data becomes inevitable because of the far-reaching socio-economic dimensions, demographic factors, and political implications of law’s operation. Quantitative legal research (QLR) insists on scientific measurement of the phenomena and appropriate generalization based on data analysis. The growing importance of QLR can be found in the policy making and implementing function of legislature, judiciary, and administration, and in the works of the Law Commission, policy researchers, and legal academicians. Designing of QLR entails framing of research questions, hypothesis formulation, and testing of the hypothesis in light of the statistical data collected. The sample size should be statistically appropriate and collection, organisation, presentation, analysis, and interpretation of data in QLR needs to be systematic. Analysing quantitative data by focusing on proportion, central tendency, and deviation enables to observe trends.

Chapter 2 highlighted both the critical need for data-exchange standards and the current limit of empirical research in the adoption of information technology standards and more specifically data-exchange standards such as STEP. These two issues were key motivations for this research. Therefore, to achieve the aims of this research, a qualitative approach was used to support the exploratory and descriptive nature of the research. This chapter discusses the justifications for the overall research philosophy and approach subscribed to, and the multiple data collection and data analysis activities used to collect sufficient data to answer the study’s research questions.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the attitudes of registered nurses toward older adults in China. Method: An online questionnaire was sent to registered nurses of five hospitals. The sample included 1,367 registered nurses in this study. Kogan’s Attitudes toward Older People Scale and Facts of Aging Quiz were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way analysis of variance and logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results: Registered nurses held a positive attitude toward older adults (155.09 ± 21.94). The experience of being cared by older adults (odds ratio [ OR] = 1.545, p = .007) and relationship with older adults ( OR = 2.440, p = .000) were associated with the attitudes of registered nurses. Discussion: Registered nurses in China held a positive attitude toward older adults. The results contribute to care practice for the older adults in hospitals.
