Introduction. The paper is devoted to the discussion of issues and unforeseen risks facing media leaders during their staffing decisions, above all the motivation of journalists' professional work and the encouraging style of journalists to perform editorial assignments. Methodology and sources. Based on the methodological resources of structural and functional analysis and structuralist constructivism, various – often opposite – editorial attitudes are identified, each of which contains resources and risks for both the professional implementation of journalists and the corporate climate of media publications. The sociological data for the problematization of the context of managerial communication was the content analysis of interviews with experts and media leaders published on Mediajobs.ru in the Media and Career portal. The measurement was carried out in the following categories: requirements for the work of a journalist by the editor-inchief or the head of a media holding; features of professional communication in the journalistic community; communication features when working with storage media; professional self-characterization of interviewed respondents. Results and discussion. The paper shows that the value preferences of media managers regarding acceptable methods of obtaining information, namely the requirements for verifying the reliability of the data collected or the use of emotional provocation, turned out to be approximately equal in the analyzed sample. Reflecting and at the same time defining the professional practice of the interaction of journalists with their sources, these professional attitudes contain the conditions for shifting the risk towards conflict interprofessional interaction.Conclusion. The sociological analysis of managerial strategies in the journalistic community makes it possible to predict with a high degree of probability the nature of professional failures and stresses that arise when journalists carry out their professional duties.

The readiness of the teaching staff of higher educational institutions for teaching and psychological and pedagogical support of students with disabilities is being considered. We emphasize that the personnel of the educational organization need special competence to work with persons with disabilities of various nosological groups. The issues of creating an accessible environment in the university were studied, the readiness of teachers to apply special educational technologies in the training of students with disabilities, to develop teaching and methodological materials; the ability to establish pedagogically appropriate relationships with students, and provide psychological and pedagogical support in matters of personal and professional self-determination. The results show a high degree of importance of special professional competencies for inclusive education. But, at the same time, teachers assess their own level of preparedness with students with disabilities as insufficient, which allowed to determine the main areas of work.

The article presents the results of a study of employment in the Russian media. Given the global trend of feminization of the media, the issues of professional self-realization, salary and career growth were analyzed through the prism of gender. The research tools included, firstly, a mass questionnaire of media workers holding both creative and administrative positions; secondly, a series of in-depth structured interviews with experts experienced in working as journalists and editors-in-chief; heads of journalistic associations; owners and founders of publications; heads of HR services of media structures; and thirdly, analysis of statistics relating to the editorial corps of editions at the municipal, regional and national levels — in the latter case the data on leading news agencies and Internet resources were analyzed. The study confirmed the trend of feminization, which is based on the socio-political (reducing the influence of the media and, consequently, lower salaries) and technological aspects (spread of information technology, forcing traditional media to compete with social media, saving on staff and reducing the quality of materials). Dissatisfied with the decline in income and in the prestige of the profession men were replaced by women, that was facilitated by a marked increase in the accessibility of journalistic education. The size of salaries depends on decisiveness of the media, on region, and also on the topics that a journalist is engaged in; in general, the willingness of women to work for a lower salary is forced. Precarious employment that is widespread in the industry deprives workers of social protection, while most of them are young women. The article examines the so-called “glass ceilings”: the more influential the media, the less often it is led by a woman. At the same time, only a quarter of the respondents acknowledge the presence of gender discrimination in their industry, and most of them are women. This is partly due to the prevalence among journalists of both sexes of traditional ideas about the distribution of the social roles of men and women in family and in society.

Every person can be described by his behavior in certain situations, but also by the motivation of his actions, a motivation that reflects the individual values. The set of values of each individual is reflected in the everyday tasks, the way of communication, the degree of success of his actions. The higher the values apply in a wider area of life, the higher the personal satisfaction of the individual. Personal values are the internal standards and, at the same time, the inner force that determines us to learn, work and live in a certain way. The paper presents a study of a group of 116 engineers from different fields who sought to identify personal values in order to improve communication at the workplace. It was used The Inventory of Personal Values that measured the analyzed variable. The findings of the research are that management strategies that value the practical and organizational spirit of engineers improve workplace communication, increase employee performance and improve their well-being.

Downsizing, manpower reductions, re-engineering, and resizing are used extensively in the United States to reduce cost and to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of various functions and processes. Published studies report that these managerial strategies result in a minimal impact on access to services, quality of care, and the ability to reduce costs. But, these approaches certainly alienate employees. These findings are usually explained by the significant difficulties experienced in eliminating nursing and other similar direct patient care-oriented positions and in terminating white-collar employees. Possibly an equally plausible reason why hospitals and physician practices react so poorly to these management strategies is their cost structure-high fixed (85%) and low variable (15%)-and that simply generating greater volume does not necessarily achieve economies of scale. More workable alternatives for health executives to effectuate cost reductions consist of simplifying prepayment, decreasing the overall availability and centralizing tertiary services at academic health centres, and closing superfluous hospitals and other health facilities. America's pluralistic values and these proposals having serious political repercussions for health executives and elected officials often present serious barriers in their implementation.

The development of corporate communication in recent years has brought about a fading of the division of labor between commercial and non-commercial organizations. While the practices of commercial organizations are becoming increasingly ethicalized, so the practices of non-profit organizations are becoming increasingly commercialized. This paper explores the use of media discourse for the communication of ethical messages by humanitarian organizations, caught, as they are, in a tension between, on the one hand, the commercial strategies of visibility and still greater dependence on the media, and, on the other hand, the public’s skepticism toward mediated morality and what is commonly referred to as compassion fatigue. The issue is investigated through an analysis of a TV spot produced by the Danish section of Amnesty International in 2004. This spot is taken as an example of how the organization’s branding strategies testify to a high degree of reflexivity about the conditions of what Luc Boltanski calls a Crisis of Pity. The analysis illustrates how, in the face of compassion fatigue, the organization manages to carve out a new space for itself in the marketized ethical discourse, and leads to a discussion of the consequences of such rebranding for the construction of morality by the organization.

Little is known regarding how hypoglycemia and associated fears influence day-to-day life among adults with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) who use contemporary diabetes management strategies. To address this gap, we performed an exploratory qualitative study with five focus groups of 30 people aged 20 to 57 years with T1DM. Sessions were audiotaped and transcribed, and then analyzed. Eight themes emerged: (a) hypoglycemic worry, (b) unpredictability and loss of control, (c) contending with life stress, (d) exercise benefits and challenges, (e) a changed relationship with food, (f) sleep fears, (g) a love/hate relationship with technology, and (h) coping strategies to make it better. Fear of hypoglycemia, diabetes management, and work demands confer a high degree of stress. Challenges surround food, exercise, and sleep. Technology is important but does not relieve fear of hypoglycemia. Developing strong coping skills and creating a safety net of support are necessary.

The practice and study of public relations in Canada has had a contested and conflicted history. Theory building and empirical research have been overshadowed by the dominant, American-centric, two-way symmetrical model that was proposed some 20 years ago. Further, there has been limited focus on the requisite competencies and skills necessary for contemporary public relations practitioners, despite the transformations in the media and professional communications fields in recent years. This study is situated and contextualized in the knowledge, competencies, and skills required for twenty-first-century professional communication workers. It also explores the specific requirements for current public relations practitioners.La pratique et l’étude des relations publiques au Canada ont eu une histoire difficile et pleine d’épreuves. La construction des théories et la recherche empirique ont été éclipsées par le modèle dominant, américano-américaines, bio-directionnelle proposé il y 20 ans. En plus, il y a eu un focus limité sur les compétences nécessaires pour les professionnels en relations publiques de nos jours, malgré les transformations dans les secteurs du média et la communication professionnelle dans les années récentes. Cette étude se situe dans le contexte des connaissances et compétences requises par les professionnels en communication au 21e siècle. Elle explore aussi les exigences particulières pour les professionnels en relations publiques de nos jours.

Experts from politics, the media and science have stated for years that the number of suitable candidates for the position of mayor in the state of Baden-Württemberg has been declining steadily. This volume examines whether this is really the case and what the reasons for the seemingly dwindling attractiveness of this position are. Based on empirical data, an up-to-date stocktaking survey is conducted among mayors and possible mayoral candidates. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the job, revealing mechanisms of selective recruitment and its conditional factors. Its concentration on the aspects mentioned gives this investigation a high degree of relevance for public and academic discussions beyond the debates on the office of mayor in Baden-Württemberg. Vinzenz Huzel studied political science at the University of Augsburg, public management at the HVF in Ludwigsburg and did his doctorate at the TU in Darmstadt. He works for the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation and is a lecturer at the Universities of Applied Sciences for Administration in Ludwigsburg and Kehl.

Data plays the important role, so that data recovery and data security be prioritized. Computer users often lose their data due to personal errors or by attacks. Digital forensics has one sub-field called computer forensic, which has an important role in the process of secure data recovery. USB Flashdisk as the most widely used storage media has a probability of data loss. It is necessary to do computer forensic actions, especially secure data recovery, on it so that it can restore data securely to other media while protecting it by giving privilege root. In this research, computer forensic testing the 2781 files of various data formats that were erased on a 32 GB USB flash drive using Photorec. The media for collecting data recovery results using an Intel computer, 2 GB RAM, 1.8 GHz processor, the Linux operating system Xubuntu 20.04. Testing is carried out following the test scenarios that have been designed, then observed, recorded, and analyzed. Photorec places recovery data in 6 recup_dir subdirectories. Test results and analysis of the test results show that Photorec is a reliable tool for computer forensic, especially secure data recovery because it can restore 100% of data, accompanied by privilege root for all data recovery results, so they cannot be changed and deleted by an end-user without granted access.

Abstract My main objective in this article is to examine the importance of political parallelism in Iceland through establishing the extent to which political parallelism is perceived to char-acterise political communication in Iceland by politicians and voters. Political parallelism is one of the defining elements of Hallin and Mancini's typology of media systems. Based on candidate surveys from five elections and a voter survey, indexes of perceived political parallelism are configured for politicians and voters. The analysis suggests a high degree of perceived political parallelism and that the perceptions are reflected in partisan ideological views of individual media outlets. The same – or at least similar – perceptions about political parallelism in the media system seem to penetrate the system irrespective of age and at the national, local, and individual level of politics. However, voters and candidates of social democratic and liberal internationally oriented parties perceive a significantly lower degree of parallelism than others.
