Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan sumber daya manusia yang memiliki kecakapan berpikir yang semakin naik. Kecakapan berpikir tersebut diperoleh melalui pembelajaran matematika. Salah satu kemampuan yang dibutuhkan dalam pembelajaran matematika yang juga merupakan Higher Order Thinking adalah kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis. Kemampuan ini dianggap masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP Negeri 1 Cikande kelas VIII. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cikande yang berjumlah 252 siswa. Teknik sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling, yang kemudian terpilih dua kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diapatkan kesimpulan bahwa pencapaian akhir kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran MEAs setting koperatif lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran biasa.   The background of this research by the needs of human resources who have the thinking skill that is increasingly going up. The thinking skills acquired through learning of mathematics. One of the skills needed in the learning of mathematics is also a higher order thinking is the ability of critical thinking. This ability is considered still belongs to low. This research aims to know the development of critical thinking ability of second grade at SMPN 1 Cikande Kabupaten Serang. The research methode used was quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group. The population is second grade at SMPN 1 Cikande totalling 252 students. The technique used is the sample of purposive sampling, which is the selected two classes as experimental and control classes. Based on the result of the analysis of data obtained by the conclusion that the ability of the critical thinking of students who get the learning mathematics of MEAs cooperative settings better than students who get reguler learning.

Abstract. This study aims to determine whether there are any differences in the students’ achievement of higher order thinking skills and the student learning outcomes through the application of problem solving learning assisted by smart chemistry applications on stichiometry. The population was 105 students of X MIPA SMAN 11 Banjarmasin. The sampling technique was conducted by  purposive sampling with 2 experimental classes and 1 control class. Each class consisted of 35 students. The method used was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The data collection was gathered using test and non-test techniques. The data analysis technique used was descriptive and inferential analysis techniques using one way ANAVA test. The results showed that higher order thinking skills, learning outcomes, knowledge, skills and attitudes of the experimental class were better than the control class.Keywords: problem solving, smart chemistry, higher order thinking skills, learning outcomes, stoichiometry.Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan pencapaian keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan hasil belajar peserta didik, melalui penerapan pembelajaran problem solving berbantuan aplikasi smart chemistry pada topik stikiometri. Populasi penelitian yaitu sebanyak 105 peserta didik X MIPA SMAN 11 Banjarmasin. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan 2 kelas eksperimen dan 1 kelas kontrol. Masing-masing kelas terdiri dari 35 peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes dan nontes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan uji ANAVA 1 jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, hasil belajar pengetahuan, keterampilan dan sikap dari kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari kelas kontrol.Kata kunci: problem solving, smart chemistry, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, hasil belajar, stoikiometri.

This study aimed to determine the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on tenth grade students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in ecosystem concept. The design of this study was quasi experimental research with "nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design". The population of this study was X grade students in Senior High School (SHS) Kandangan, South Kalimantan. The sample were chosen through random sampling technique. The sample will be tested for equivalence based on the data of from the report card from the first semester. The instrument of data collection is students' HOTS rubric that developed by Hart (1994) with a range of scores for each question ranging from 0 to 4. One way analysis of variance (anava) was used as hypothesis test in this study. The result showed that PBL learning model had a positive effect on HOTS. It can be seen from the average of HOTS level of control class was 28.40 and treatment class was 36,23 and seen from F value = 20.97 whereas F table = 0.05 means F arithmetic > F table.

ABSTRAKPembelajaran IPS SD menjadi pembelajaran yang membosankan, karena guru belum menerapkan model, metode, strategi pembelajaran yang inovatif. Guru juga hanya melatih siswa untuk hafalan-hafalan konsep IPS, belum melatih berpikir kritis. Discovery learning sebagai salah satu model pembelajaran memiliki keunggulan mengaktifkan siswa. Tahapan-tahapan model discovery learning mendukung siswa untuk berpikir kritis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh model discovery learning berbasis higher order thinking skill terhadap kemampan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini berjenis eksperimen semu, dengan rancangan Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Kelas eksperimen menerapkan model discovery learning berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill, sedangkan kelas kontrol menerapkan model penugasan dan diskusi berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill. Penelitian ini menggunakan populasi kelas V SDN Banyu Urip IX Surabaya. Dua kelas dipilih secara random sampling sebagai sampel penelitian. Kelas V-A berjumlah 32 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen. Kelas V-B berjumlah 30 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Intrumen penelitian ini menggunakan soal (pretest dan posttest) dalam bentuk essai berjumlah 4 butir soal. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan penskoran terhadap hasil pretest dan posttest. Uji T digunakan untuk menguji hasil data penelitian. Hasil data penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata gainscore kelas eksperimen sebesar 5,75 lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol sebesar 2,6. Hasil data yang menggunakan uji-t. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai t= 7,986 dan signifikansi dua ekor 0,000, sehingga p< 0,05. Hal tersebut membuktikan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model discovery learning berbasis higher order thinking skill terhadap kemampan berpikir kritis.Kata Kunci : Discovery Learning, Higher Order Thinking Skill, Berpikir kritisABSTRACTElementary school social studies learning becomes boring learning, because teachers have not applied innovative models, methods, and learning strategies. The teacher also only trains students to memorize social science concepts, not to train critical thinking. Discovery learning as one of the learning models has the advantage of activating students. The stages of the discovery learning model support students to think critically. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of discovery learning models based on higher order thinking skills on critical thinking skills. This research is a quasi-experimental type, with a Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The experimental class applies the discovery learning model based on the Higher Order Thinking Skill, while the control class applies the assignment and discussion model based on the Higher Order Thinking Skill. This study uses a population of class V SDN Banyu Urip IX Surabaya. Two classes were chosen by random sampling as a research sample. Class V-A numbered 32 students as an experimental class. Class V-B totaling 30 students as a control class. The instruments of this study used 4 questions (pretest and posttest) in the form of essays. Data collection techniques used scoring of the results of the pretest and posttest. T test is used to test the results of research data. The results of the research data show that the average gaincore of the experimental class was 5.75 higher than the control class of 2.6. The results of data using the t-test. This can be seen from the value of t = 7.986 and the significance of two tails is 0.000, so that p <0.05. This proves that there is an influence of discovery learning model based on higher order thinking skills on critical thinking skills.Keywords: Discovery Learning, Higher Order Thinking Skill, Critical Thinking

The aims of this study is to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills based on the application of CLIS method (Children Learning In Science) LKS assisted on elasticity and Hooke Law in SMA Negeri 1 Jakenan Pati. This research was conducted at SMA N 1 Jakenan Pati dated October 13 until October 24, 2017. This research used Quasi Experimental design in the form of pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research is all class XI IPA in SMA Negeri 1 Jakenan Pati, while sample of research used consist of two classes taken by cluster random sampling technique so that obtained class XI IPA 8 which amounted to 40 students as experiment class using  CLIS method (Children Learning In Science) assisted by LKS, and XI IPA 7, amounting to 40 students as control class using Direct Instruction learning model. Based on the result of the research obtained the mean of pretest experimental class is 55,2 and control class 49,45, while value of experimental class postest 79,1 and control class 68,7. The hypothesis testing shows that with t test s2 polled variance magnitude thitung = 19.5 and ttabel = 1.66. This indicates thitung > ttabel, so Ho is rejected which means there is increasing in the effectiveness of CLIS learning method (Children Learning In Science) assisted by LKS on students' critical thinking ability.

It was explained that this research uses a quasi-experimental approach, in this research there is a treatment. This research used an experimental design, the result of the homogeneity test obtained the fcount of 1.77 compared to the dk-numerator f table 32 &dk-deniminsator 32 and the sig level . 5 % of the table price wich is 1.80. Because fcount <table , can be concluded that the experimental class and control class are proven to be homogeneous. He explained that the experimental class and proved to be normally distributed. It is concluded that the experimental class is as fcount According to the research result, it is proven that there is an effect of Open-Ended on the HOTS ability of Building Room V material at SDN Keboananom,Sidoarjo. This is evidenced by the averege value of the experimental class is higher than the control class. Abstrak Dijelaskan bahwa penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen semu, dalam penelitian ini terdapat perlakuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimental, hasil uji homogenitas diperoleh fhitung 1,77 dibandingkan dk-numerator f tabel 32 & dk-deniminsator 32 dan taraf sig. 5% dari harga meja yaitu 1.80. Karena fhitung <tabel, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol terbukti homogen. Ia menjelaskan bahwa kelas eksperimen dan terbukti berdistribusi normal. Disimpulkan bahwa kelas eksperimen adalah sebagai hitung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terbukti ada pengaruh Open-ended terhadap kemampuan HOTS materi Ruang Gedung V SDN Keboananom Sidoarjo. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol.

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) of Eleventh-grade students on motion system material in SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. The research method used was Quasi-Experimental with the research design of Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sampling method used was Saturated Sampling Techniques. The instruments of data collection are HOTS test questions in the form of multiple choices with five answer choices in twenty-five questions. Observation instrument of learning implementation used Checklist with twelve observation items. The response instruments of students use questionnaires with a Likert scale. HOTS data were tested using the Mann-Whitney test, and then the learning implementation data and students’ response data were analyzed descriptively. This data processing uses SPSS twenty-three. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, the sig value is 0.00 (sig <0.05), which shows an effect studied was significant. The implementation of learning has Good Category, while the response of students has very good and good categories of the two types of the response of students measured. Based on the hypothesis test results can be concluded that the PBL’s model can significantly influence higher-order thinking skills of Eleventh-grade students on motion system material in SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara.

The low level of students’ higher order thinking skills (HOTS) has been the main problem of education in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the difference of students’ HOTS taught by using POE and Guided Discovery learning models. This quasi-experimental research involved 34 students of X IPA 3 and 32 students of X IPA 4 at SSHS 1 of Sungai Ambawang as the sample. The data obtained by using test which was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-test. The results showed that the students’ HOTS who were treated with POE were significantly higher than those who were taught using Guided Discovery learning. Therefore, it is suggested to implement POE to improve students’ HOTS.

<p>The purpose of this study is to obtain a profile of students’ creative thinking skills on quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials. Implementation of the research is using quasi-experimental method pre-test post-test control group design with 40 students involved in Biochemistry lab. The research instrument is pre-test and post-test using creative thinking skills in the form of description and students’ questionnaire. The analysis was performed with SPSS 22.0 program to see the significance normality, U Mann-Whitney test for nonparametric statistics, N-Gain score, and the percentage of student responses to the practicum performed. The research result shows that the pretest rate in the experimental group is 8.25 while in the control group is 6.90. After attending a project-based practicum with local materials, the experimental group obtained the mean of posttest is 37.55 while in control class is 11.18. The students’ improvement on creative thinking skills can be seen from the average of N-Gain in the experimental class with 0.32 (medium category) and in the control category with 0.05 (low category). The experimental and control class have different creative thinking skills significantly different fluency, flexibility, novelty, and detail. It can be concluded that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials can improve students’ creative thinking skills. 71% of total students feel that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials make them more creative in doing a practicum in the laboratory.</p>

The atomic structure material has certain characteristics and difficulties, including the need for a lot of knowledge and analytical skills that students have. Therefore, students need to be given the right learning model in order to increase their interest and learning activities.The learning model that can be done is to carry out learning by applying a cooperative approach, one of which is the Team Game Tournament (TGT) type. The effectiveness of using the TGT model can be increased by providing question cards media. The question card media used in this study is a card containing Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions that require students' higher order thinking skills.The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the TGT type cooperative learning model with the help of HOTS-based question card media on atomic structure material on higher-order thinking skills and student learning outcomes of physics education.Based on the results of research and calculations, it can be concluded that the provision of question card media in the TGT model on the atomic structure material is effective on student learning outcomes with Sig values. (0.028) <0.05, then there is a difference in learning outcomes so that it can be concluded that the experimental class is more effective than the control class. Supported by the highest lowest scores in the experimental group, namely 75 and 100 with an average of 90.02, while the control group was 65 and 100 with an average of 84.2.

This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of the INSTAD strategy in comparison to other teaching strategies such as Inquiry, student team’s achievement division (STAD), and lecture method, to reduce the gap of higher order thinking skills between Upper Academic (UA) and Lower Academic (LA) groups of students.The research partipants were 136 7th grade students in total, which consisted of two groups of 36 UA and 36 LA students. The students were selected through a stratified random sampling from 27 Public Junior High Schools in Surakarta, Indonesia. The treatment classes were determined through an intact group. The research design employed pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group of quasi experiment. The higher order thinking skills were measured by essay test sheet as an instrument. Data were analysed by utilizing ANCOVA with the pre-test score as the covariate. The findings revealed that INSTAD have optimally improved higher order thinking skills in comparison with the Inquiry, STAD, and lecture method. INSTAD's were proven able to reduce the gap of higher order thinking skills between UA and LA students rather than Inquiry, STAD, and lecture method as teaching strategies.
