Background. A scientific problem concerning factors which are important for academic achievement of students is analysed in the paper. Questions whether emotional intelligence level is related to academic achievement and whether correlation between academic achievement in a specific area (science, languages) and EI expression exists, whether emotional intelligence of young people with low education differs from that of young people with higher education, etc. are raised. Methods. Research participants were 1430 students aged between 17 and 27 years. The survey was performed using EI-DARL V2 test. The following factors were assessed: “Perception of one’s own emotions”; “Control of one’s own emotions”; “Perception of emotions of other people”; “Control of emotions of other people”, and “Manipulations”. Also, such aspects as ability of recognizing emotions in facial pictures and ability of emotional situation solving were assessed. Results. The combined EI scale scores in all factors were the highest of those subjects who are or were excellent students, the lowest – of those who were poor students. Those subjects who were equally poor both at languages and sciences were the least capable of perception of their own emotions and those of others people, they also were the least capable of controlling their own emotions. Highly educated young people were of higher emotional intelligence. Furthermore, emotional situation solving and emotion recognition in pictures was better in the group of highly educated students. Conclusion. Positive correlation between academic achievement and emotional intelligence was established. Mathematics and language skills proved to be significant indexes of emotional intelligence: it was established that those subjects who were more successful in sciences were the best at understanding and controlling their own emotions, while individuals who were better in languages were more efficient in understanding and controlling emotions of other people.

One of the groups at risk of developing this disease is young people (students) who experience anxiety throughout the entire learning process.

The main purpose of the presented article is to reveal the potential of social psychological knowledge for the analysis of radicalisation of young people. In the introduction, the features of socialisation in the modern world are discussed. Special attention is drawn to the role of the Internet in the socialisation of adolescents and young people. It is noted that the dominance of audiovisual information contributes to the reduction of reflexivity and promotes the so-called clip thinking, which has become an integral characteristic of adolescents and young people. It is emphasized that life in the modern society is associated with a number of changes taking place simultaneously at different levels, and uncertainty has become its important feature. Extremism and radicalisation are considered as a reaction to uncertainty, a way to overcome it. The main part of the article is devoted to the analysis of models of radicalization describes in various works. Finally, perspectives of further investigation into the subject are outlined.

In today's world where the global economy is shrinking and the people of the world are constantly being plaque by recession, natural disasters, poverty and war the youth have to grapple with all these stressful influences. Due to the recession the job markets have become saturated as recession has hit the global economies throughout the world. The youth now are tasked with becoming involved in entrepreneurial activities to survive in these complex world economies. However entrepreneurship is not an easy endeavour. It is not for the faint hearted either. Entrepreneurism involves drive, perseverance, emotional intelligence and risk taking. A way forward for young people is social entrepreneurship as it offers them very viable opportunities within the backdrop of such a volatile economy.

The prevention of youth violence is one of the major challenges of our time. Based on important key concepts on youth violence from the report of the World Health Organization, opportunities are presented for music therapy with youth to prevent violence. As music in its various forms reaches a very large number of young people all around the world on an emotional level, it is important to note its special ability to promote aggressive emotions as well as to regulate these same emotions. Integrated with more mainstream approaches, music therapy can have preventive potential at different levels: in individual settings, group programmes, and community approaches. Different music therapy approaches for the challenges of violence prevention are presented and developmental tasks for the future are discussed.

We examined the diverse composition of young people aged 15–29 in Brazil who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET). The analysis shows the Brazilian NEET population’s main characteristics by analyzing data from the 2014 National Household Sample Survey. The findings confirm significant socioeconomic heterogeneity in group composition, which allows identification of subgroups with different levels of social vulnerability. A considerable proportion of these young people are in this status due to structural issues and social inequality, and for another significant portion of cases, NEET status is not a problem in itself. Therefore, especially in Latin America where demographic transitions have resulted in large economically active populations, investigations of youth inactivity and risk of social exclusion among this group are warranted.

This article highlights the results of the research on psychological features of eschatological expectations of young people with different levels of creative thinking. Our study shows that 26 % of respondents believe that the End of the World will not arrive. Twenty-four per cent of respondents are skeptical about the likelihood of the Apocalypse, but they admit its possibility. Thirty-seven per cent of respondents believe that the End of Time will not come soon and the remaining 13% expect the Apocalypse very soon. Some respondents (7.5%) indicate that growth in the rate of prophecies connected with the End of the World in recent years suggests that humanity itself seeks it, while 9 % of respondents state the religious point of view in their works. Also 9 % of respondents believe that there will be no destruction of civilization or destruction of the planet but there will be a mental transition to another level of being. The existence of correlation between creative thinking and eschatological expectations was also empirically established in our study, especially in the group of respondents with a high level of verbal creativity. There is no correlation between the index of non-verbal creativity, personal religiosity and eschatological expectations in the sample. These results confirm that our study is relevant and offers great prospects for further scientific research.

The aim of this paper is to find out the relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment of the hotel staff in 5-Star hotels of Tehran, Iran. The research enjoys an applied, descriptive, survey-based, and correlational framework. The population of the study was comprised of 423 employees (N =423) of public 5- star hotels in Tehran including Esteghlal, Laleh, and Homa. The sample was randomly selected based on Kerjesi- Morgan table and included 142 (n=142) individuals. The data gathering instruments were two standard questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence and organizational commitment. To analyze the data, Pierson correlation, ANOVA, and Qi-square were employed and results revealed that there was a significant relationship between the two main variables of the study, namely; emotional intelligence and organizational commitment and some of the components of these variables. This signifies the necessity of attracting and employing highly emotionally intelligent individuals, training them in different levels and leading them towards the application of the skills required. Paving the ground for the development and continuation of emotional intelligence within managers and the staff of the hotels and residential centers are also inevitable factors to be followed.

The author’s prophylactic program presented in the article is due to help up psychical health of teenagers and Tourism students both, its goal is to involve in such useful and recreational activity as tourism. Tourism is able to stimulate sensory channels of reality perception, therefore why it may serve as rewarding substitution of passive computer pastime. However, it is possible only under condition of defined algorithm of actions, which should been fulfilled through mentoring system of different levels realization. The author guided by the fact that teenagers trust the information, the source of which is the coevals or the persons who are not much older. «The school of young tourist» contains three vectors of prophylactic work with teenagers: interactive programs organized by Tourist stu- dents under skilled psychologist guidance, the programs providing useful teenagers occupation and the programs conducted by the seniors. The idea of «The school of young tourist» is dictated by the target auditory need in self – improvement, track finding, depression overcoming. Such emotion as suspense is intrinsic to the young people, it appears to be the reason of their depression. The author of the article states that proposed project has powerful potential of the career guidance, it allows to create the channels of communication between university, which has «Tourism» profile and school audience seeking the trace of the future professional realization. The project «The school of young tourist» possesses high practical importance because it fits to be actualized on the platform of the majority of the universities comprising the Universities for Tourism and Service Association.
