This paper reveals the form of the presentation in Atilah Soeryajaya's Bedhaya Samparan Dance Matah Ati. The idea of creation in this dance is derived from the story of Matah Ati and Mangkunegara I. Qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach were chosen to explore the phenomenon of art in this writing. The visual form of bedhaya, which is a little different from bedhaya in general, makes this dance need to be studied further. The difference lies in the use of more than one property, the structure of the presentation, the number of dancers, costumes, and floor patterns. Keywords: bedhaya, phenomenon, form

This paper explores the experiences of new part-time professors (instructors hired on a semester-by-semester basis that have been working at the institution for less than five years) and considers the phenomenon of how they connect with peers. It examines whether a lack of connection exists among part-time professors at the University of Ottawa and how this may affect their experience (i.e. teaching and career), lead to barriers to connection, and affect their social capital (i.e., their ability to access or use resources embedded in their social networks). Using Moustakas’ (1994) phenomenological approach for collecting and analyzing data and Creswell’s (2007) approach for establishing validity, we uncovered several thematic patterns in participants’ experience that indicate barriers to connection and affect the ability to access and mobilize social capital: Feeling uncertain or impermanent, isolated, overwhelmed, and like second-class citizens. The paper concludes that inadequate social capital may not only influence part-time professors – it may also have problematic implications for students, the department, and the University as a whole. Keywords: Social capital, barriers to communication, phenomenology, qualitative methods, part-time professors

Abstract The universal a priori of the correlation between transcendental being and its subjective modes of givenness constitutes the minimal framework for any phenomenological approach. The proper object of phenomenology is then to characterize both the exact nature of the correlation and the sense of being of the terms in relation, that is to say, of subject and world. It involves demonstrating that a rigorous analysis of the correlation unfolds necessarily on three levels and that phenomenology is thus destined to move beyond itself towards a cosmology and metaphysics. The phenomenological correlation that we will establish is essentially a relation between a subject that is desire and a world that is pure transcendence and assumes their common belonging to a φύσίς whose description stems from a cosmology. But the difference of the subject, without which there is no correlation, refers itself to a more originary split that affects the very process of the manifestation and opens the space of metaphysics.

This paper explores the tolerance in the modern era. Tolerance is an important component in building a plural society aiming at living together without being distinguished from each other. Conversely, the lack of tolerance has the potential to threaten the unity especially in the context of the nation, like Indonesia. The awareness of diversity in thinking and acting will add harmonious life and tolerance, such as the <em>Murji'ah</em> group. This research used qualitative methods that are library research by using Islamic literature as the main reference. Therefore, it can be said that the difference in the world of Islamic thought has long been developed. It is in line with the teachings offered by the <em>Murji'ah</em> group. Although in its development this group is divided into two major groups namely the moderates (<em>Mutawasith</em>) and extreme (Mutasaddid). Since the Murji'ah no longer grew as a dynamic stream, but turned into a passive group. Nevertheless, the original character remains visible that is a tolerant attitude.

Abstract: This research intends to investigate why the difference in Islamic interpretation did not cause religious conflict in Pulau Banyak, Aceh Singkil. This phenomenon was sharply different compared to other Aceh regions where people argue each other just because they had different interpretations (khilafiah) on Islam. In those regions, the Muslim majorities in Aceh (aswaja) use the term wahabi to distinguish minority groups and to justify their violence. Meanwhile, in Kepulauan Banyak, there are two Islamic mainstreams namely Muhammadiyah and Pesantren or tarbiyah (the traditional Islam) that are strongly rooted in the society without any clashes recorded. Hence, the question was what makes this dualism in religious interpretation live cooperatively in Kepulauan Banyak. This analytical descriptive research used qualitative methods with grounded research as its approach. Data was collected in three villages in the Kepulauan Banyak District. This research showed that coastal communities prioritize community togetherness rather than their differentiation in Islamic understanding. The collective feeling as a coastal community becomes social cohesion that obscuring religious differences.

The subject of this paper is to claim that the aesthetic experience is the essence of the experience of the work of art. I argue against the view hold by Arthur C. Danto, according to which modern art does not require the aesthetic experience any more and that this fact means the end of art. The aesthetic experience allows explaining only the art made be-tween the Renaissance and the XIX century. The modern work of art of the XX century can only be explained conceptually and therefore a philosophy of art is required to make that content explicit and clear. To defend the aesthetic status of the work of art I will show that the aesthetic experience identifies itself with the phenomenological ex-perience. This means that the aesthetic experience makes us aware of the difference between the content of the work (what appears) and the sensible lived experience in which this content appears (the appearance). The “appearance” and “what appears” are the two poles of Intentionality and the two fundamental layers of the work of art. Through the phenomenological approach I will make clear that the work of art does not exclude the conceptual content at all. This content has to be necessarily embodied. It is not philosophy that has to disclose this con-tent but the aesthetic experience alone.
