Today, the media represent one of the main factors in the upbringing and education of adolescents due to the growing representation, availability of diverse content and more frequent use. In adolescence, the media have a special significance, because they greatly influence the preferences, attitudes, emotions, behavior, value orientations and the formation of adolescents' identities. Starting from such an attitude, the preferences of upper-secondary school students for monitoring media content and their perceptions of value orientations that are promoted through the media were examined through the aim of the research. The media habits of adolescents and their perceptions of the value system in the media were determined through the survey technique. The study included 433 students from the Republic of Serbia. The results showed that there are significant differences in the preferences of adolescents in the choice of media content in relation to gender and type of school. A positive correlation was found in the monitoring of certain television content and values in the media, as well as in relation to musical affinities and values that are promoted through music videos. The results of research point out potential proposals for improving the media culture of adolescents and reducing the negative effects of the media. It is recognized as a potential solution in the development of media literacy of adolescents, i.e., the affirmation of their critical opinion about the messages and values that are promoted through the media. Keywords: media literacy, media values, students' media preferences, students' perception, value orientations

The theoretical research focuses on the educational experience for the formation of media literacy among school-age children in different countries around the world. The article presents various options for the formation of media literacy, based on three educational models. According to the first model, media education is represented in the form of a compulsory subject in schools, which is studied by students in different grades. According to the second educational model, media habits are acquired within the interdisciplinary (integrated) approach – the use of the media in traditional school subjects, including native and foreign languages, literature, social sciences. The third model offers practical and informal integration of media education as a supplement and replacement of specific subjects or the intersection between them. The article examines in detail the media training opportunities offered in Canada, the United Kingdom, Finland and Spain, as their experience in media education is applied in a number of other countries around the world. Special attention is paid to the first steps in the introduction of media literacy training among students in Bulgaria, which is carried out only in the last 5-6 years.

This research has been set in view of the increasing exposure of children and youth to the media and the challenges of the modern education system. The aim was to establish the existence and representation of extracurricular activities in school curricula aimed at media literacy of students in primary schools in the area of Virovitica-Podravina and Požega-Slavonia Counties in the Republic of Croatia. The data were collected by studying the documentation - analysis of 25 school curricula for the 2020/2021 school year, which are available on websites of the schools. The results are described by the descriptive method and point to the existence of extracurricular activities aimed at media literacy of students, but not in all schools. Such extracurricular activities are more represented in higher grades of primary school (5th -8th grade) and are mostly oriented toward journalism, while in lower grades (1st - 4th grade) the most frequent activities are related to Computer Science or a specific aim set within media literacy education. Finally, this research can be a starting point for other research projects for determining the causal links that led to such results and an incentive to improve educational practice in Croatian schools.

The paper presents the research findings on the behavior of users of the social network Facebook, in the circumstances of a crisis situation and the declaration of the state of emergency. By combining the media content analysis, modified netnographic approach and pseudo-survey techniques, the author seeks to determine the extent and the manner in which the declaration of the state of emergency in the Republic of Srpska has affected its citizens. The results show that the state of emergency has led to a reduction in the number of events reported, creating uniformity in media content and increasing the degree to which the media rely on official sources of information. On the other hand, the audience shows saturation with such content, completely ignoring it or expressing dissatisfaction with the overall situation, most often sarcastically. The analysis of user comments shows that, although value-neutral, the content focused on government activities provoked mostly negative comments, with hate speech and explicit vulgarism, as well as comments ad hominem, although to a lesser extent.

Współczesny sposób korzystania z mediów zmienił strukturę i funkcje przestrzenną miejsc odbioru. Zagregowane i opracowane wyniki pozwoliły uprawdopodobnić postawione w procesie konceptualizacji badań hipotezy i stanowią przyczynek do dalszych badań zjawiska. Methods, Places and Rituals Accompanying the Perception of the Content of Traditional Television and WebTV among High School Students Residing in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship The modern way of using the media has changed the spatial structure and functions of the places of media reception. We live in an information age where the media has transformed the world into a global village. However it would come as a surprise to many that even in this twenty first century there are isolated pockets in India such as Lakshadweep without adequate newspaper reach, lacking timely newspaper coverage of local issues. The social implications of such glaring inequalities are striking. This study seeks to shed new light on a hitherto sidelined issue which has a lot of significance. The specific objectives of the study are to analyse the lack of popularity of newspapers in Lakshadweep, to study the media habits and media preferences of the islanders and to study the coverage given to local Lakshadweep issues in newspapers. The survey method was utilized to collect data required for the study. It was conducted only in the Kavaratti islands, the capital of Lakshadweep The following reasons are noted for the lack of popularity of newspapers in Lakshadweep. Delay in getting newspaper in time, Lakshadweep local news do not get adequate coverage in newspapers, Regular newspaper readers are less in number, subscribers of newspaper are less in number, few people depend on newspaper for breaking news, After the arrival of electronic media, the natives gradually shifted to electronic media for news. Very few people (4%) prefer newspapers for information purposes, while the vast majority depend on Television. In a region populated by scheduled tribes there is a pressing need to enhance their public awareness, to strengthen democracy at the grassroots and gain a better understanding of media habits in such isolated areas. This exploratory study has thrown fresh light on media coverage and media habits of such marginalised communities. The study is confined to only one island Kavaratti, the capital of Lakshadweep. Perhaps in future more detailed studies on such topics need to be undertaken keeping in mind their social relevance.
