Sea star is an invertebrate animal that is included in the phylum Echinoderms from the Asteroidea class. Radial symmetry is shaped and generally has five or more arms and does not have a frame that helps movement. This study aims to determine the diversity of sea star (Asteroidea) in Lamalaka Beach, Ile Boleng District, East Flores Regency.This research will be conducted in July-August 2019, the location of the study is on the Lamalaka coast, Ile Boleng District, East Flores Regency.The method used is a survey method, based on the presence of Asteroidea species that are considered to represent the area. The steps in data collection are field survey, observation, identifying species in each plot, observing and recording their marphological characteristics.Sampling uses the technique of determining the location of sampling using Area sampling. To identify based on Human and Deloach identification guidelines, 2010. Analysis of the data used in this research is quantitative descriptive and the composition of Asteroidea species can be stated based on visual observations calculating species density, relative density, and dominance index, diversity.Based on the results of the study, found 4 species of Asteroidea, namely Protoreaster nodulosus, Linckia laevigata, Echinaster luzonicus, Astropecten polyacanthus. The highest species density calculation results were found in P. nodulosus species with a value of 0.78 ind / m2. while the lowest species density was found in L.laevigata species with a value of 0.63 ind / m2. The highest relative density was found in P. nodulosus species with a value of 27.64%, and the lowest relative density found in L.laevigata species with a value of 22.35 %. The index of starfish species dominance in Lamalaka Beach, obtained a value of D <0.5, indicates that there are no species that dominate in Lamalaka Beach. The existence of starfish in Lamalaka Beach, Ile Boleng District, East Flores Regency needs to be preserved. One form of effort to preserve it is to conduct monitoring with routine monitoring to monitor the condition of the sea star population in these waters. Besides that, it is also necessary to increase the utilization of sea stars as one of the natural tourism objects and as an Ecoedutourism tourism object. Thus, the presence of starfish will be felt by the wider community so that awareness to maintain the existence of starfish will be increased.

The Phylum Echinodermata, comprising approximately 7,000 living species, and 13,000 fossil species, is epitomized by the familiar sea star, a universal symbol of the marine realm.  This distinctive group of animals may be briefly defined as possessing a skeleton of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite; a unique water-vascular system which mediates feeding, locomotion, and other functions; and a more or less conspicuous five-part radial symmetry.  A closer look at some extant echinoderms will show that some taxa of sea cucumbers lack calcite in their body walls, some taxa of sea stars have “outgrown” five-part symmetry and may have 50 or more arms, and many echinoderms show a more or less conspicuous bilateral symmetry superimposed upon a radial pattern.  Fossil echinoderms can be even more puzzling, for some are decidedly asymmetrical, and others may lack evidence of a water-vascular system.  Perhaps the only truly reliable taxonomic character of the phylum is that its members today are restricted to the marine realm.

AbstractExtant echinoderms show five-part radial symmetry in typical shape. However, we can find some asymmetry in their details, represented by the madreporite position not at the center, different skeletal arrangement in two of the five rays of sea urchins, and a circular cavity formed by two-end closure. We suspect the existence of any difference in hidden information between the five. In our hypothesis, deep equivalency makes no issue in function even after exchanging the position of rays; otherwise, this autograft causes some trouble in behavior or tissue formation. For this attempt, we firstly developed a method to transplant an arm tip to the counterpart of another arm in the sea star Patiria pectinifera. As a result, seven arms were completely implanted—four into the original positions for a control and three into different positions—with underwater surgery where we sutured with nylon thread and physically prevented nearby tube feet extending. Based on our external and internal observation, each grafted arm (i) gradually recovered movement coordination with the proximal body, (ii) regenerated its lost half as in usual distal regeneration, and (iii) formed no irregular intercalation filling any positional gap at the suture, no matter whether two cut arms were swapped. We here suggest a deep symmetry among the five rays of sea stars not only in morphology but also in physiology, representing an evolutionary strategy that has given equal priority to all the radial directions. Moreover, our methodological notes for grafting a mass of body in sea stars would help echinoderm research involving positional information as well as immunology.

AbstractIntertidal sea stars often function in environments with extreme hydrodynamic loads that can compromise their ability to remain attached to surfaces. While behavioral responses such as burrowing into sand or sheltering in rock crevices can help minimize hydrodynamic loads, previous work shows that sea stars also alter body shape in response to flow conditions. This morphological plasticity suggests that sea star body shape may play an important hydrodynamic role. In this study, we measured the fluid forces acting on surface-mounted sea star and spherical dome models in water channel tests. All sea star models created downforce, i.e., the fluid pushed the body towards the surface. In contrast, the spherical dome generated lift. We also used Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to measure the midplane flow field around the models. Control volume analyses based on the PIV data show that downforce arises because the sea star bodies serve as ramps that divert fluid away from the surface. These observations are further rationalized using force predictions and flow visualizations from numerical simulations. The discovery of downforce generation could explain why sea stars are shaped as they are: the pentaradial geometry aids attachment to surfaces in the presence of high hydrodynamic loads.

AbstrakTujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui seberapa besar faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi minat siswa-siswi dalam mengikuti ektrakurikuler bola voli di SMP N 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif menggunakan metode survei. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah siswa yang mengikuti ektrakurikuler bola voli di SMP N 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung sebanyak 19 anak. Intrumen yang digunakan berupa angket, dengan koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0,953 dan untuk menganalisis data digunakan statistik deskriptif kuantitatif dengan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan minat siswa dalam mengikuti ektrakurikuler bola voli di SMP N 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung sebagian besar berada pada kategori tinggi sebesar 57,80 %, diikuti pada kategori rendah sebesar 21,2 %, kemudian kategori sangat tinggi sebesar 10,5 %, dan kategori sangat rendah sebesar 10,5 %. Jadi dapat disimpulkan minat siswa dalam mengikuti ekstrakurikuler bola voli di SMP N 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung sebagian besar berada pada kategori tinggi.Kata kunci : Minat, Ekstrakurikuler Bola voli,AbstractThe objective of this research is to determine how much the factors that can affect the interest of students in joining volleyball extracurricular at SMPN 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung. This research is descriptive research using survey method. The research subject used were students who took volleyball extracurricular at SMPN 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung as many as 19 students. The instrument used was questionnaire, with a reliability coefficient of 0.953 and to analyze the data used quantitative descriptive statistic with percentage. The results show that students' interest in joining volleyball extracurricular at SMPN 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung is mostly in the high category at 57.80%, followed by the low category at 21.2%, then the very high category at 10.5%, and the very low category at 10.5%. So, it can be concluded that students' interest in joining volleyball extracurricular at SMPN 3 Satu Atap Karangsambung is mostly in the high category.Keywords: Interest, Volleyball Extracurricular

The connectivity of a region is an indicator the growth of service centers. Community service is carried out with a team from PT. Maluku and North Maluku Regional Development Bank Central Maluku Branch during 2018. Data were collected in 18 districts in Central Maluku Regency through the Rapid Survey Method for regional potential and socio-economic dynamics of the community. Central Maluku Regency BPS data support 2018 is a complementary input in the centrality analysis. The data were processed using quantitative descriptive analysis using Guttman scale/Marshall Centrality Index and spatial analysis tools using ArcmapGIS 10.3.1 software, to obtain a map of the regional service center. Central Maluku Regency is an archipelago, having district clusters spread over Seram Island, Ambon, Lease Islands and Banda. The district cluster is divided into 4 regions with the highest level of regional service being in Amahei District (11.14) and the lowest in Nusa Laut (2.50). Economic growth in sub-districts in the archipelago experienced a positive trend, concentrated on Ambon Island and Banda Islands, while the Lease Islands centrality index was in the lower middle category.

Evaluation of type and planting system at the median road of Ir. SoekarnoMedian strips the City of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat. Planting plants in the median strip Ir. Soekarno was dominated by Trembesi trees (Samanea saman) with tree branches that grew beyond the median strip. It was quite dangerous for road users because the Trembesi trees can easily be fallen when exposed to strong winds. Despite its problems, the Trembesi tree had ecological potential benefits such as the highest oxygen-producing and pollutant-absorbing capacity. This study aims to determine and evaluate the types of plants in terms of the physical categories and functions of plants and spacing. This study was located in Ir. Soekarno Road, South Tanimbar District, Town of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat Regency. The standard of assesment for median road plant used The Guidelines Regulation of Public Works Minister 2008. Survey method with quantitative descriptive approach was used was this study by taking four samples of the median road segment. The physical assessment results for the four samples varied, those were moderate, good, and very good. The assessment result of functions in each segment had been fulfilled the categories with good and very good criteria, howevere the function needs to be improved. The value of distance assessment for each segment varied, those were good and very good. In order to increase plant distance category, it was necessary to add plants in each segment.

The aim of this study was to find out the causes and outcome of the early marriages in the light of victims and gatekeepers observations. However, one-third of under-aged girls in the developing countries are married before the age of 18 years. Although in Northern areas of Pakistan, early marriage is a very common problem in both gender, especially, in Gilgit-Baltistan and the ratio is higher than any other part of the country. Moreover, in this region, early marriage is prevailed due to traditional customs, religious dominance and supernatural evil. The present study chose two categories, first category for victims which includes respondents of age group from 10 to 40 years old and married before 18 years of age. The second category was chosen for interpretation of the community gatekeepers. We utilized a quantitative survey method to collect data from each district and examined 200 sample. A sample is divided into two groups, the victim's group includes 150 respondents and the group of gatekeepers includes 50 sample size. The tailor-made close-ended questionnaire was designed for the collection of data. Beside this, a Likert scale was also used for Professionals.  There is a need to take some serious steps to eliminate this social disease which promotes the illiteracy, poverty, crime, economic burden, terrorism, domestic violence and rapid increase in population which is surmounting challenges in the pathway of regional development. Early marriage has psychological, physical and economic consequences; most girls remain unable to complete their primary and secondary education and also have the negative impact on their health.

Slums commonly distributed in susceptible environment or in location that occupied by low economic household, especially in urban areas. Empirically, in Indonesia, the data about distribution and total area of slums is quite hard to be acquired, since slums indicators is not standardized yet. This study aimed to (1) identify the distribution of slums in Yogyakarta City, based on multi-sources data; and (2) elaborate the linkage between slums location and disaster vulnerability in research area. This research uses a mixed methods, i.e utilization of secondary data, survey method, and GIS mapping. Analysis units of this research are “Kelurahan”, where all “Kelurahan” which have slums are chosen as members of population (census technique). Indepth interview conducted in order to collect disaster vulnerability data in each “Kelurahan”. Informant that chosen as representative person in each “Kelurahan” are “Lurah” or “Secretary of Lurah”. All of the data are analyzed by qualitative and quantitative descriptive method. Conclusion of this study are: (1) Slums in Yogyakarta City distributed mainly along three main rivers, and (2) There are very closed association between slums area and disaster vulnerable zones.

Gill nets is the most dominant fishing gear used by fishermen in Kampung Nelayan Village. Gill nets 2 and 3 inches are widely used by traditional fishermen and modern fishermen because this tool is very practical to catch fish also friendly to the environment. This study aims to determine the construction and friendliness of fishing gear gill nets 2 and 3 inches which include the length of the net, the width of the net, shortening, buoyancy and sinking power. This research was carried out in the Village of Kampung Nelayan, Tungkal Ilir Subdistrict, Tanjung Jabung Barat District in February 2018. The method used in this research was survey method. The data obtained were analyzed using net dimension analysis and descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results of research on the construction of 2 and 3 inches gill nets consisting of nylon monofilament made from transparent colors. The knot used by the English knot. Top rope, float, and float buoy made from polyethylene (PE) rope and ballast rope made from polypropylene (PP). The sinker made from tin and gill net 3 inch weight based on bracelet-shaped wire.Net shortening value of 2 inch is 51.75% and has a buoyancy of 3.05 kgf and a sinking power of 9.97 kgf. As well as the value of gill shortening 3 inch 50.62% and the buoyancy generated 6.22 kgf and the sinking power of 365.4 kgf. The value of environmental friendliness of 2 and 3 inch nets has a value of 31.25 and 30.75 and is classified as environmentally friendly fishing gear.

Abstract Seagrass ecosystems are located between mangrove ecosystems and coral reefs. Seagrass ecosystems are habitats and foraging area for many marine organisms. Eco-biological cycles in seagrass ecosystems are important for maintaining populations of many organisms. Seagrass at Hiri Island is distributed horizontally along the coast. This island is also a location where Dugong dugon is found North Maluku. Dugong dugon is a vurneable species that has been included in the IUCN and Appendix I Cites. This study aimed to identify species, density of seagrass and existence of Dugong dugong. The survey method used quadratic transect method to collect seagrass data. The Results found 6 species of seagrass at Hiri Island. Five species of those seagrass (Cymodocea serrulata, Cymodecea rotundata, Halodule uninervis, Halodule pinifolia, Halophila spinulosa) are known as food of Dugong dugon. The highest species density was shown by Halodule uninervis. The presence of Dugong dugon and its feeding trail was found during field survey. Information on seagrass species and Dugong dugon sightings location can be used for endangered species conservation policies. Management and conservation efforts need to be done to maintain seagrass ecosystem and Dugong dugon potential habitat at Hiri Island.
