This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of YouTube Music platform as teaching media to improve students’ listening mastery. It is believed that YouTube Music as an innovative media could be used effectively to attract students’ interest in increasing their listening mastery. By using true-experimental research with quantitative design, there are 52 students were divided into two groups, 26 students for experimental group and 26 students included in control group. This research used test and questionnaire as research instrument. There are several findings to prove that YouTube Music platform is an effective media to improve students’ listening skills. By conducting test as first instrument, it was found that the average score of students taught by YouTube music was 79.85. It was higher than those who taught by conventional media (71.50). By analyzing the data, it can be concluded that there are significant different between students taught by innovative media than those taught by conventional media. This result also affected by students’ perception in learning listening which was found by students’ answer from questionnaire.

ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness and significance different of using Charades game in students’ vocabulary mastery at SMP Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan Metro. Charades game is the activity that players a word phrase and their teammates try to guess. Charade game is a kind of game in which words are represented in pantomime. This research used an experimental research. The subjects of this research are the students at SMP Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan Metro academic year 2020. There are 20 students of control group and 20 students of experimental group. The research instrument used to collect the data in this research is Test and observation. From the two classes, the experimental and control group, the measurement shows that increasing line of vocabulary mastery in experimental group is higher than control group. The result of pre-test score shows that the average score of the experimental group and the control group are 61,6and 66,6. From the score of both groups, the result shows that the control group is better than experimental group. Then, the result of the posttest in experimental group is higher than control group; the average scores are 74,2for experimental group and 68,8 for control group. It can be concluded that there are effectiveness and significant different of using Charades game in students’ vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Charades, Game, Vocabulary.

The purpose of this study is to explore the practical application effect of TBL innovative teaching method in the course of clinical biochemistry test technology. The research object is all undergraduate students in the laboratory major of 2018 medical school of our university. The research method is comparative experiment method, the teaching method of LBL teaching is set as control group, while the experimental group adopts TBL teaching method. By the final teaching evaluation and the data collected in the process, the influence of TBL teaching methods on the teaching effect of the course is compared and analyzed. The evaluation methods are combined with subjective and objective evaluation. The evaluation methods include questionnaire, student mutual evaluation, final test and other multiple ways. And the results of this study showed that the average score of the experimental group using TBL teaching method was significantly higher than that of the control group using traditional teaching method. In addition, through the process evaluation, it was found that the students in the experimental group were superior to the students in the control group in terms of learning interest, communication ability and learning methods. As a result, the application of TBL teaching method in the teaching of clinical biochemistry test obviously promotes the teaching quality and effect of this course.

This study attempts to discover the effect of applying Small Group Work Strategy on students’ achievement in writing procedure text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the nineth (IX) grade students of SMP N 1 Padang Bolak Julu which consists of 3 parallel classes with the total number of students is 90. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class IX1 consisted of 30 students became the experimental group and class IX3 consisted of 30 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by Small Group Work Strategy while the control group was taught by using individual work strategy. The instrument was used to collect the data was writing procedure text. After the data were analyzed, it was found that the value of t-observed was 3.37 with the degree of freedom (df) = 58 at the level significance 0.05. it means that t-observed was higher than t-table (3.37 > 2.00. Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) is reected and the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted.Key words : Small Group Work Strategy, Writing Procedure Text.

This study attempts to discover the effect of applying Personal Experiences Strategy on students’ achievement in writing narrative text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this research was the tenth (X) grade students of SMA N 6 Padangsidimpuan  which consists of 10 parallel classes with the total number of students is 64. The samples of this research were taken by random sampling through lottery technique. The result was class X1 consisted of 32 students became the experimental group and class X2 consisted of 32 students became the control group. The experimental group was taught by Personal Experiences Strategy while the control group was taught by using Big group work strategy. The instrument was used to collect the data was writing narrative text. After the data were analyzed, it was found that the value of t-observed was 4.25 with the degree of freedom (df) = 62 at the level significance 0.05. it means that t-observed was higher than t-table (4.25 > 1.997. The result of this study showed that teaching narrative text by using personal experiences strategy was higher than that by big group work. Keywords : Using Personal Experiences Strategy. This study was conducted to know the effect of applying Peer Review Strategy on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive paragraph. It was conducted by using experimental research method. This research design was conducted pre-test, post test in experimental and control group. The population of this research was the eight (VIII) grade students of SMP IT IQRA’ Medan. The sample of this research was taken by lottery technique. They were in class VIII-1 by experimental group and the class VIII-2 by control group. The experimental group was taught by using Peer Review Strategy while the control group was given no treatment. The instrument used to collect the data was writing essay test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that the value of t-observed was higher than the value of t-table. (3,55 > 2,05 (a = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = 28. It means that there was a significant effect of applying Peer Review Strategy on the students’ achievement in writing descriptive paragraph. So, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.

This study is an attempt to discover the effect of applying Think-Talk-Write strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. The objective of this study were to find out whether applying Think-Talk-Write strategy affect the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. This study was an experimental research. In conducting the research, the writer used 60 students of Al-Fattah Senior High School Medan as the sample. The 60 students were taken from two classes and they were divided into two groups namely the experimental group who was taught by using Think-Talk-Write strategy and the control group who was taught without Think-Talk-Write strategy. The data of the test were collected by administering written test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis shows that the value of t-observed is higher than the value of t-table (2,3> 2,00 (α = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = N-2 = 58. It means that there is significant effect of applying Think-Talk-Write strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. So the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The conclusion is that applying Think-Talk-Write strategy can encourage and increase the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. Therefore, it is suggested that English teacher should try to apply this strategy.

The aim of this study is to discover the effect of applying SQ3R method inreading comprehension. Experimental research design is used as the research method.This research took place at SMA Nasrani 2Medan. There were 2 classes chosen as thesample with 30 students in each class. The classes were divided into two groups namelyexperimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using SQ3Rmethod and the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrumentused to collect the data was a set of multiple choice tests, which divided as pre test andpost test. The result of the research was analyzed by using t-test formula. The resultshowed that t-test was higher than t-table (4,23>2,00) at the level of significant 0,05with degree of freedom (df) 58. It means that hypothesis alternative (Ha) is acceptedwhich shows that SQ3R method significantly improves the student’s readingcomprehension.

This study aimed to determine the effect of the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model with the outdoor approach towards students’ ability in mathematical representation. It was quasi-experimental research consisting of two experimental classes and one control group. It used a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was the students of SUPM Tegal. Sampling was conducted using cluster random consisting of three classes. The first experimental group was carried out by implementing the learning model of CTL with the outdoor approach. The second experimental group was carried out by implementing a learning model of CTL, while the control group was conducted by implementing a conventional learning model. The research instrument was a 7-point mathematical representation test in the form of an essay. The results of the research were 1) the learning model of CTL with an outdoor approach affected the improvement and achievement of the students’ ability in mathematical representation and was higher than CTL and a conventional learning; 2) the improvement of the students’ ability of representation in the groups of CTL with outdoor approach, CTL, and conventional learning respectively was in high, medium, and low category.

This research aims to know the effect of group investigation learning on student’s science process skill based on their IQ in SMAN 1 Mataram for eleventh grade students. This is a quasi experimental study using pretest postest control group design design. Pretest was taken to get data of student’s IQ. Posttest was also conducted to measure student’s science process skill. Sample was taken using nonprobability sampling from the population of eleventh grade student in SMAN 1 Mataram.The sample was two group of student each from two class, class XI sains 6 and as experimental group and class XI sains 5 as control group. The average os Student’s IQ on experimental group and control group were equal, both at 112. Learning processes were 12 x 45 minutes long in total. The experimental group showed better average score on posttest where they scored 82.40 on average, while control group only scored 74.83 on average. This value is statistically significant, at p = 0.007, less that 0.005. This result shows that implementation of group investigation can increase student’s science process skill.Keywords: Group investigation, science process skill, intelligence Quotient (IQ)ABSTRACT
