The introduction of fruit plants into a culture enriches the diversity of the species composition of the regional flora and at the same time creates an opportunity for expansion of the plant raw material base for the needs of the food industry, inclusion in a full-fledged functional nutrition of the population. Among the fruit plants of the Dniprovsk region, every year, more attention should be paid to introduced low-frequency non-traditional fruit species, in which the fruits, leaves, stems and other parts have high nutritional value and are the source of physiologically active compounds that have anti-cancer, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, carry cardio protective, antihypertensive, anti-diabetic effects, stimulate the central nervous system, etc., and can contribute to the prevention and treatment of many diseases.   Antioxidants additives in the raw materials and finished products ensures their prevention damage, reduce losses, increase shelf life and production of high quality products which keep for a long time characteristics inherent fresh, complete products. Preservation, restoration and introduction to the culture of any species depends primarily on its ability to multiply seed and vegetative methods. A comparative analysis of the fruit and seed ability of Berberis L. representatives grown in the botanical garden of Oles Gonchar’  Dniprovsky National University was carried out. The use of integrated research methods made it possible to carry out an integrated assessment of the regenerative capacity of the investigated representatives of the Berberis L. and to establish their biological ability to seed propagation depending on the seed quality of the seeds. The seeds length varied from 4.5 mm (B. canadensis) to 5.2 mm (B. declinata, B. amurensis), width was from 1.8 mm (B. amurensis, B. vulgares) to 2.1 mm ( B. coreana). The weight of 1000 seeds, which, depending on their size and completeness, amounted to an average of 10.16 grams. Largest weight 1000 pcs. seed is marked in B. coreana. As a result of the total antioxidant ability of the fruits, the species examined can be arranged in the following order:  B. koreana > B. x declinata > B. vulgaris > B. amurensis > B. canadensis. When comparing total antioxidant capacity level of the plants, the highest indices were characteristic for B. koreana and B. x declinata fruits, which exceeded the values of other species in 1.7-1.9 times. The relatively low antioxidants concentration in B. amurensis fruits is offset by a greater weight of the fruits of this species.  In order to enrich the range of ornamental and fruit plants, it is expedient to introduce into production of new crops and to expand the species diversity of Berberis L. representatives. Barberry reproduction process depends on many factors related to the environment. All investigated representatives of the Berberis L. are promising for further use in the planting system and as fruit plants that can be included in the functional nutrition of the population and use in the food industry in the conditions of the Steppe Prydniprovya.

Using the methods of arc atomic emission spectrometry (AAES), atomic emission flame photometry (AEFP), atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) and mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), the elemental composition of the aerial part of widely used in medical practice Alfredia cernua and Filipendula ulmaria, extracts and fractions obtained from them, is investigated. It was shown that not only biologically active substances, but also mineral elements are extracted by extractants, which may be due both to the formation of complexes with biologically active substances and affinity for extractants. Therefore, the elemental composition must be considered as an important component of plant extracts and medicinal products obtained from them. Simultaneously with biologically active substances in ethanol extracts there is an accumulation of not only biogenic, but also toxic elements, which degree of extraction is often higher. It increases even more during the transition from periodic to countercurrent extraction, which allows to obtain extracts with the highest yield of biologically active substances. Since the enriched extract is directly used to obtain the dosage form, a preliminary elemental analysis is necessary. Analytical control of the content of TM is also necessary when choosing the place of growth of plants raw materials, which are used to create medicinal herbal remedies.

The purpose of this study was to determine the content of carotenoids in the fruits of some representatives of Sorbus genus from the collection of the South Ural Botanical Garden-Institute. For the quantitative analysis, the fruits of the rowan trees were collected in the phase of full ripening and dried to an air-dry state. Sorbus aucuparia L. was used as an object of comparison as the official pharmacopoeias species. Qualitative detection of carotenoids was performed by thin layer chromatography, quantitative determination - spectrophotometrically. It was found that the highest content of carotenoids is characterized by a sort of hybrid origin × Crataegosorbus miczurinii “Garnet” – 46.41 mg/% and a natural hybrid Sorbocotoneaster pozdnijkovii – 42.64 mg /%. The minimum content of this group of substances is noted in the raw material of Sorbus frutescens (0.86 mg/%) with white fruits. This fact is confirmed by the presence of plant pigments – carotenoids, in fruits that have a yellow-orange-red color. The local Sorbus aucuparia had a low carotenoid content (11.24 mg/%).The study, with a certain degree of reliability, suggests the presence of carotenoids in the fruits of the rowan trees studied and allows us to recommend them as a promising source of raw materials for the production of vitamin-active drugs and food additives. The studied taxons × Crataegosorbus miczurinii and × Sorbocotoneaster pozdnijkovii are characterized by high introduction resistance under the conditions of the Bashkir Cis-Urals. In the future, it is intended to continue the study of other members of the Sorbus genus for the presence of pharmacopoeias properties.

Among the relevant for the modern pharmacy problems, there is a need for the rational complex use of known medicinal plants, as well as the search for new sources of natural biologically active compounds in order to expand the list of official medicinal plants and raw material base. Species of genus Geum L. contain a number of biological active substances and are promising sources of raw materials for the production of antimicrobial, astringent, anti-inflammatory, and hemostatic medicines. Pharmacological activity of these plants results from their multi-component chemical composition, including tannins, flavonoids, macro- and microelements and other compounds. The aim of thе study was to compare the elemental composition of herb and rhizomes with roots of G. urbanum L., G. aleppicum Jacq. and G. rivale L. of Ukrainian flora. The objects of the study were the samples of herb and rhizome with roots of G. urbanum L., G. aleppicum Jacq. and G. rivale L. (dried raw materials) which were collected in the Kharkiv region, Ruski Tishki village, in June-August 2018–2019. The determination of the qualitative composition and quantitative content of elements was carried out by atomic absorption spectroscopy with atomization in an air-acetylene flame using a spectrometer CAS 120 («Selmi», Sumy, Ukraine). In the studied samples, 19 elements were determined, including 5 macroelements and 14 microelements. The data about accumulation of elements in investigated herb of G. urbanum L., G. aleppicum Jacq., G. rivale L. can be arranged in descending order as follows: K > Ca > Si > Mg > P > Fe > Al > Na > Sr > Zn, and in rhizomes with roots as follows – K > Si > Ca > Mg > Fe > P > Al > Na > Sr > Zn. The content of toxic elements such as cobalt, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury was within the permissible limits for plant raw materials and food. For the first time, a comparative study of the macro- and microelement composition in herb and rhizomes with roots of G. urbanum L., G. aleppicum Jacq. and G. rivale L. has been carried out. Using the method of atomic absorption spectral analysis, 19 elements have been identified and their content has been determined, among which К, Ca, Mg, Si, P, Fe, Al, Na, Mn, Zn predominantly accumulate.

Chemical substances, which accumulate selectively by plants, can influence at their pharmacological action: to increase or decrease their absorption, resorptive properties; be synergists or antagonists, as well as to reduce or enhance the toxic effect. Potentilla erecta used in traditional herbal medicine system in many countries due to high therapeutic value. The concentrations of secondary metabolites in the plant raw materials are well understood. However, the data on concentration of trace and major elemental composition of it raw material remains extremely insufficient. The aim of our study was to examine the elemental compound of P. erecta rhizomes. The object of study was the rhizomes of P. erecta from a various natural zones of Ukraine (Carpathians, Polesie). Raw material was analyzed by atomic emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma. Twenty nine elements were identified in studied samples.  It was established that the level of concentration decreases in this sequence: Ca > S > Mg > K > Sn > I > P > Ba > Al > Zn > Mn > Fe > Sr > Si > Ag > Cr > Ni > Cu > Pb > V > Se > Ti > Cd > Ge > Na > Mo > Co > As > Bi. Ca, S and Mg are present in high concentrations in both analyzed samples of P. erecta. K, Sn, I, P, Ba and Al were identified in quantities of more than 100 mg/kg. Other elements found in small quantities. The content of some metals was significantly different in the analyzed samples. The main reason is, probably, the difference between the ecological conditions of plants habitats. The experimental data can be used for prognosing and planning pharmacological research of P. erecta and development of quality control methods for plant material of this medicinal plant.

Formulation of the problem. Representatives of the genus Berberis L. (Berberidaceae Juss.) are extremely promising as valuable medicinal, melliferous, fruitful and also decorative shrubs. But rusty mushrooms (Puccinia graminis Pers.) are progressing, which are parasitizing on cereals. The danger forgrowing cereal crops, barberries have when some of their species are growing close to the field. The aim of the study was an estimation of risk of growth rusty mushroom on cultivated species of barberries, that gave a possibility to detect the most stable to such diseases species and to recommend them for using in decorative landscaping or in plantations of raw materials. 30 species of barberries, which arecultivating in botanical garden Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, were exploring during 2014-2018. The growth of rusty mushrooms on barberries was studied by degree of affected leaves. The analysisof weather indicator from April-May confirmed dependence from their active germination taleotospores Puccinia graminis and formation of basidiyas with basidiospores by period of outsight. The intensity of affection barberries leaves by rusty mushrooms is comparatively not high and isn’t over 12-15 %. Also 8 species of barberries are detected as absolutely resistant against rusty mushrooms, so that there were no features of affection on them. If we compare these indicators with information about origin of separate species barberries, we can mark that the most resistant to rusty mushrooms are species, which are originate from South China (East Asian) region. Most of them didn’t have any features of affection by rusty mushrooms in all period of outsight at all (5 years). The biggest affection from rusty mushrooms was noticed in species of barberries which come from the Himalayas, Central Asia and Europe. Therefore, in planning barberries cultivations it is expedient to consider the origin of separate species and accordingly determine risks of their introduction in culture. We excreted 3 groups of species among barberries by degree of fortitude to rusty mushrooms: 1. Completely resistant species, which don’t affect by rusty mushrooms in different weather conditions: (B. beaniana, B. brachypoda, B. dasystachya, B. dielsiana, B. gagnepainii, B. gilgiana, B. holstii, B. thunbergii) – 8 species; 2. Relatively resistant species, the level of affection of rusty mushrooms not more than 10 % of leaf surface (B. аetnensis, B. аggregata, B. аngulosa, B. сircumserrata, B. lycium, B. oblonga, B. orthobotrys, B.spathulata) – 8 spesies; 3. Unstable to rusty mushrooms species in which the affection is more than 10% of leaf surface (B. аemulans, B. аlksuthiensis, B. аmurensis, B. аristata, B. сoreana, B. dielsiana, B. edgeworthiana, B. giraldii, B. integerrima, B. laxiflora, B. notabilis, B. regeliana, B. reticulata, B. vulgaris) – 14 species. As we can see from the table, the intensity of growth rusty mushrooms on the barberry’s leaves are changing the separate years. The literature confirms that the activity of dissemination taleotospores, development of mushroom hyphae with formation basidiyas and basidiospores, also dissemination the last one depends on weather conditions of April-May, that is the period when they are progressing and carrying by wind and insects affecting barberries leaves. We compared the indicators of affection leaves with average indicators of total average daily temperaturesand precipitations in April-May by the period of observation, and between them had been detected certain dependence. The degree of rusty mushroom growth on barberries leaves was detected proportional to dynamics of increase middle-daily temperatures of air and inversely proportional to increasing amount of precipitation at this period. The most dangerous for cereal fields are higher named completely resistant species barberries from the first group, which we can introduce in culture for different purpose: decorative landing, plantations of medical, nutritional or melliferous purpose. Some limitationsare expedient in planning cultures with groups of relatively resistant species (the second group), which don’t have to grow close to the cereal fields. In our opinion, the sufficient barrier for them can be a protective zone with woods 10-15 meters wide. At last, unstable to rusty mushrooms species of barberries (the third group), we can grow nearby the cereal fields just in forestry environment (woods and shrubs), which must be 50-100 m wide or to cultivate them where will be no growing cereals. In conclusion. Thereby, in terms of wet and warm climate in Chernivtsi region the cultivation of most barberries (16 species of the first and second group) don’t make any significant threat for growing cereals even when the last one are close to these cultures.

The study dealt with the patterns of adaptation of the genus Berberis L. low-abundant alien plants to the climatic conditions of the steppe zone of Ukraine. The success of the introduction, which was conducted on the territory of the Botanical Garden of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (city of Dnipro) near 60 years ago, was evaluated by a set of indicators. According to the study of phenological rhythms, introduced plants can be characterized as plants with a relatively short growing season, a relatively long shoot growth, a short flowering period and a long maturing period. This indicates the lability of the phenological rhythms of the introduced plants, which respond to changes in environmental conditions in terms of the beginning and end of the phenological phases. The aquatic regime of introduced plants reflects the level of their adaptation to the environment due to the ability of plant organism to withstand water consumption. The study of water exchange features of Berberis L. plants revealed a moderate decrease in the intensity of transpiration and a moderate water deficit in the plant leaves, which indicates the adaptation of the species to the difficult climatic conditions of the steppe zone. The response of introduced plants to the level of moisture in the steppe region confirmed the universal mechanism of plant adaptation to arid conditions. Comparative analysis of the reproductive ability of introduced plants of the genus Berberis L. in the conditions of the Botanical Garden revealed a significant variability of quantitative indicators. The weight of 100 fruits ranged from 12.5 g (B. vulgaris) to 16.3 g (B. declinata). Seed length varied from 4.5 mm (B. canadensis) to 5.2 mm (B. declinata, B. amurensis), seed width varied from 1.8 mm (B. amurensis, B. vulgaris) to 2.1 mm (B. koreana). The highest mass of 1000 seeds was observed in the species B. koreana. To compare sample averages, the criterion for the significant difference of Tukey's group averages was used. The investigated plants of the genus Berberis L. can be recommended for the introduction into large-scale and individual gardening in order to expand the range of fruit products and obtain biologically valuable raw materials for the industrial production of functional products.

There is an increase in motorization worldwide, which in turn requires the construction of high-quality roads and highways. In both new construction and reconstruction of the pavement, large volumes of natural mineral materials are used, placing a large technogenic load on environmental objects during their extraction. In a number of regions of the Russian Federation, there are not sufficient volumes of conditioned raw materials for the production of high-quality composite building materials, such as asphalt concrete and cement concrete mixtures. The use of industrial waste in the composition of building materials addresses this issue while both solving environmental issues and reducing the cost of road construction. This article shows that developed countries successfully use the resource potential of waste in the production of building materials. This article proposes the use of waste foundry sand as the mineral raw material in the production of asphalt concrete. The article presents research on the following: geometric shape, elemental composition of the surface of the particles of the waste foundry sand; bitumen capacity; and the adhesion of bitumen. Based on the obtained data, a technology was developed for producing hot sandy asphalt concrete in which the waste foundry sand is used as a fine mineral aggregate. Physico-mechanical properties of the obtained samples of asphalt concrete satisfy the requirements established in GOST for asphalt concrete. Keywords: waste foundry sand, asphalt concrete, industrial material, elemental composition, bitumen
