The article discusses the representation of all groups of Karelians (Karelians, Livvik and Ludik Karelians) on the causes and ways of treatment of toothache (rational and irrational). The study used comparative-historical and comparative-comparative methods. The research involved the works of Russian and Finnish researchers who address various aspects of Karelian traditional medicine. In addition, the author used field materials collected in the Olonetsky and Pryazha districts of the Republic of Karelia. The Karelians noticed one of the causes of toothache, which was the result of a cold, a natural cause. However, since even after the conversion to Christianity the Karelians remained the beliefs of pagan origin, and in the toothache (as a symptom) was viewed from mythological view. The Karelians looked at a toothache as a serious, painful disease. In order to prevent its occurrence, the Karelians used salt and performed ritual preventive actions. As well as the causes of toothache, treatments could be rational and irrational. From the rational treatment methods, Karelians practiced warming and compresses, made tincture and ointments from medicinal herbs. Bleeding was considered effective for relieving toothache. Irrational methods of treatment included sorcery. This can be seen in all Karelian groups.

2/3 of all diseases of the nervous system in children begin to develop in the perinatal period. In recent decades, great strides have been made in perinatal neurology in the development of criteria for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Further study of the biochemical foundations of perinatal lesions of the nervous system with the definition of objective markers of the severity of the lesion will reveal new links in its pathogenesis and develop more effective methods of treatment.

Various solubilization techniques have been developed to enhance the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs. One of the solubilization techniques is preparation of microemulsion. Microemulsion is a potential carrier in drug delivery system because it has many advantageous characteristics. In this research, hydrophobic drug was made in a dosage form of oil in water (O/W) microemulsion using ketoprofen as a model and investigated the influence of adding starch hydrolisates with dextrose equivalent (DE) 35-40 in variety concentrations (0,0%; 1,5%; 2,0%; 2,5%) to the stability of this microemulsion system. This microemulsion consisted of isopropyl miritate as oil phase, tween 80 and lechitin as surfactants, ethanol as cosurfactant, propylene glycol as cosolvent, starch hydrolisates DE 35–40 as stabilizer, and water as external phase. The evaluation was stability test both phisically and chemically. The result showed that the stability of microemulsion system increased significantly by adding starch hydrolisates DE 35-40 at 2,5%.

The aim: Is to determine the tactics and methods of treatment of bezoars of the gastrointestinal tract. Materials and methods: From 2001 to 2019, 17 patients were diagnosed with “bezoar”. Results: Due to the “weariness” of the clinic, the diagnosis was made in the first 3 days only for 3 (17,6 %) patients. On the basis of the obtained average pH values for 4 (23,5 %) patients established moderate hypoacid, for 4 (23,5 %) - pronounced hypoacid, for 6 (35,3 %) - anacid. For 5 (29,4 %) patients, the bezoars were withdrawn on the first attempt, while the other 5 (29,4 %) were “lumped”. In the course of fibrogastroscopic examination, all patients were diagnosed with impaired motor-evacuation function of the stomach: gastroesophageal and duodenogastric refluxes, presence of passive discharge of the contents of the stomach into the esophagus. Conclusions: Therefore, the preconditions for the development of bezoars may be: hypo- and anacid, impaired motor-evacuation function of the stomach, chronic gastric ulcer, cognitive impairment. Endoscopic method should be preferred in the treatment, on condition of its failure - laparoscopic gastrotomy with bezoar extraction.
