The study aims to assess the variability of morphofunctional indicators of masculinity among students in Belarus over time and depending on the level of physical fitness. The research was carried out in 2016–2021 in Minsk (the Republic of Belarus). The sample consisted of 233 students (102 young men, 131 young women) aged 18 to 22. We also used the materials of our earlier study of 180 students (125 young men and 65 young women) of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. We compared our data to the archival data of the Department of Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus from the period 2000–2007: a total of 243 students in Minsk (98 young men, 145 young women). Anthropometric measurements of body length, body weight, shoulder width, pelvic width, waist circumference, hip circumference, tense shoulder circumference, relaxed shoulder circumference, length of the second and fourth fingers of both hands, wrist dynamometry of the right and left hand were carried out. The morphological indices were calculated. It was revealed that modern young men have more waist circumference than young men of the beginning of the XXI century. In young women, waist circumference and body weight showed greater stability. The width of the pelvis has decreased from the beginning of the 21st century to the present in both sexes. In modern young men, disharmony of physique due to excess body weight in relation to its length occurs more often than at the beginning of the century. The indicators of wrist dynamometry among modern Belarusian students have become lower compared to the beginning of the 2000s. The young men and women involved in physical culture had a significantly lower 2D:4D for the left hand and right hand than those who have a lower level of physical fitness. Thus, the study revealed the temporal variability of waist circumference, pelvic width, and dynamometry (strength capabilities) and the dynamics of morphological indices of masculinity among young students in Belarus.

The scientific work presents a detailed analysis of the 17-19 years young men morphofunctional status screening studies. The young men who took part in the research did not have any pathologies in their health and belonged to the main medical group. To effectively address the goal of the study, a wide range of methods typical of researches in the field of physical culture and sports was used. A total of 34 indicators were studied, including 23 direct measurements. The reliability of the obtained results is confirmed by adequate theoretical substantiation of scientific positions and research apparatus, highly informative and reliable research methods, optimal duration, correctness of processing, analysis and interpretation of the obtained data. The relevance of the chosen topic is confirmed by the results of the study, which were based on knowledge of age anatomy, age physiology, hygiene of physical culture and sports. Analysis of the young men morphological condition individual results in pre-conscription age indicates incomplete formation of the musculoskeletal system, and the circumferential size of the waist and hips, which exceeded physiological norms indicate the presence of excess body weight. There is a significant asymmetry between the results of wrist dynamometry, the difference between the strength of the right hand and the left hand is 6.2 kg. Studies of the body composition revealed that the average group performance of muscle and bone components of the young men aged 17-19 years is below the physiological norm. The range of muscle component values ranges from a minimum of 36.2% to a maximum of 78.7%, indicating sample heterogeneity. Studies of cardiovascular parameters revealed: heart rate at rest, which exceeded the physiological norm in 26.3% of test subjects, signs of bradycardia in 7.6% of test subjects, signs of hypotension were found in 4.7% of test subjects, signs of hypertension were found in 18.4% of test subjects. We found 7.6% of young men with the pulse pressure exceeded the permissible threshold. The vast majority, which is 70.7% of the studied young men of pre-conscription age, had individual results of endurance coefficient in the range of 17-29 s.u., which indicates a weakened activity of the cardiovascular system. Low individual indicators of lung vital capacity are observed at 8.3% of young men, and are in the range of 2.6-2.9 l. 10.1% of young men with individual respiratory rate results significantly higher than the age norm were also found. In the course of the study, we found that only 19.1% of pre-conscription youth had individual results of the hypoxia index which corresponded to the age norm. The individual results of the Rufier test in pre-conscription young men were distributed as follows: 7.9% have above average level of physical working capacity, 37.2% have average level of physical working capacity, 42.3% have satisfactory level, 12.6% have low level of physical working capacity. It should be noted that as a result of the study we did not find any young men who would have a high level of physical capacity.

The research of the dynamics of physical fitness of students of an agricultural university of the main medical group from the 1st to the 3rd courses for passing the standards of the GTO complex in the process of physical training and sports was carried out. To study the physical fitness of students a methodology was developed the basis of which was the standards of the AllRussian Physical Culture and Sports Complex GTO, as scientifically substantiated and characterizing the vital physical qualities of a person. The obtained test results according to the 8 standards of the GTO complex (dip up chinups mobility exercises standing long jump crosscountry run (young men 3 km, young women 2 km) 100meters race shuttle run (3 times 10 m) grenade throwing were processed using mathematical and statistical methods then the average values of indicators in certain types of control tests were determined. We determined the integral index (level) of physical fitness of students of 13 courses (young men and women) as the sum of the average values of the results for 8 types of control exercises expressed in points equivalent. It was established that both boys and girls showed positive dynamics of growth in the level of physical fitness for passing the standards of the GTO complex. Young women were within the average values of indicators (level of the bronze GTO Pin) young men from batting average to higher than batting average (from the bronze to silver GTO Pin). The practical implications of this research lie in the fact that with the help of the developed methodology it is possible to determine the level of physical qualities and the level of integral physical fitness of students for passing the standards of the GTO complex in the process of learning at a university. This makes it possible to make allowances to the organization of the educational process.

Androgen-dependent dermopathy, as well as premenstrual syndrome of varying severity in young women, can cause emotional depression, difficulties in social adaptation and even depressive disorders. The aim of the study was to study the safety and efficacy of using a combined oral contraceptive (COC) Dimia® containing 20 μg ethinyl estradiol and 3 mg drospirenone in young women, as well as its therapeutic effects in androgen-dependent dermopathy. Materials and methods. The study included 57 young women aged 23.1±2.2 years with signs of androgen-dependent dermopathy. The evaluation of the change in the character of menstrual bleeding, the anthropometric parameters (body weight, waist circumference and hips), the therapeutic effect of the drug on the symptoms of androgen-dependent dermopathy, as well as the dynamics of arterial pressure, hemoglobin level, serum iron have been studied. The psycho-emotional state was assessed using the SAN questionnaire (well-being-activity-mood). Results. During 6 months of observation, there was no significant change in the body mass index, waist circumference, and hips, and the drug did not affect the blood pressure numbers. Against the background of taking the drug, there was an increase in the parameters of iron metabolism (hemoglobin content, serum iron). After 3 months of taking the contraceptive with drospirenone, the number of patients with a complaint about the abundance of menstruation decreased more than twofold (from 22.8 to 10.5%), and after 6 months of taking the drug no patient noted the profuse nature of menstruation. Before the start of taking COC with drospirenone, 57.9% of women reported painful menstrual bleeding. Against the background of taking the contraceptive within 3 months, this complaint was stopped in all patients. Sufficient efficacy of treatment of androgen dependent dermopathy in young women with the help of a microdosed drospirenone-containing combined oral contraceptive is estimated from the dermatological acne index. The analysis of the SAN questionnaire made it possible to reveal the improvement in the psychoemotional state of patients on the background of taking the drug. The conclusion. The results obtained proved the effectiveness and safety of the microclinized COC Dimia®. The drug has no significant effect on body weight, blood pressure, provides reliable control of the cycle and a decrease in menstrual bleeding, which results in stabilization of iron metabolism in the body. Dimia® is effective in the treatment of androgen-dependent dermopathy and can be recommended to young women for starting contraception.

Abstract Breakfast is considered as the most important meal of the day. The habit of skipping this meal in adolescence tends to remain until adulthood and has been associated with cardiometabolic risk factors. The present study estimated the prevalence of skipping breakfast and its association with cardiometabolic risk factors. This is a cross-sectional study with data from the Study of Cardiovascular Risks in Adolescents (ERICA), with a nationally representative sample of 36 956 Brazilian adolescents, aged 12–17 years, enrolled in public and private schools. The outcomes were excess body weight (BMI), central obesity (waist circumference and waist:height ratio), lipid profile (total cholesterol (TC), LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and TAG) and glycidic profile (fasting glycaemia, fasting insulin and glycated Hb). The association between skipping breakfast and each outcome was estimated using multiple Poisson regression models (prevalence ratio (PR) and 95 % CI). Prevalence of skipping breakfast was 68·7 % and, after adjustments, it was associated with excess body weight (PR = 1·30; 95 % CI 1·18, 1·43), central obesity both by waist circumference (PR = 1·27; 95 % CI 1·00, 1·61) and by waist:height ratio (PR = 1·32; 95 % CI 1·13, 1·54) and high fasting glucose levels (PR = 1·54; 95 % CI 1·09, 2·18), fasting insulin (PR = 1·64; 95 % CI 1·21, 2·22), glycated Hb (PR = 1·16; 95 % CI 1·03, 1·31) and total cholesterol (PR = 1·14; 95 % CI 1·02, 1·27). Skipping breakfast was associated with cardiometabolic risk factors in adolescence. In this context, the school environment is an ideal space to promote healthy eating habits, favouring the implementation of food and nutrition education activities to make adolescents aware of the importance of consuming breakfast daily.

AbstractIntroduction. Indoor cycling training programs at fitness clubs offer the possibility of optimizing the structure and amount of physical activity, which reduces the risk of disrupting the adaptive abilities of women’s bodies. The main purpose of this study was to identify the effect of an indoor cycling program on the body composition and physical fitness of young women.Material and methods. Twenty-nine women (age = 29.31 ± 3.40 years, body weight = 70.71 ± 6.15 kg, and height = 169.83 ± 3.17 cm) took part in the study, participating in three classes per week for 16 weeks. Each class included three periods: the preparatory, main, and supporting periods. Body composition (waist circumference and body mass index), cardiorespiratory fitness (VО2max), motor fitness (balance), and musculoskeletal fitness (upper and lower body muscle strength and muscular endurance) were compared before the beginning of the study and after 10 and 16 weeks of training. Changes recorded in each variable over time were analyzed statistically using repeated measures methods.Results. Significant improvements in physical fitness were identified in the values of the body mass index (7.81%; ES: 0.95, p = 0.0001) and VО2max (12.51%; ES: 1.02, p = 0.0001). Moderate improvements were found in lower body muscle strength (11.13%; ES: 0.66, p = 0.0001) and waist circumference (6.05%, ES: 0.65, p = 0.0001). There was an increase in the strength of the muscles of the upper body (5.27%; ES: 0.41, p = 0.0001), muscular endurance (8.20%; ES: 0.32, p = 0.0001), and balance (10.68%; ES: 0.29, p = 0.003).Conclusion. Indoor cycling in a fitness club is an effective form of exercise for young women; it has targeted training effects on the body’s functional systems, adaptive abilities, and physical fitness.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether a 10-week program could improve physical activity, physical fitness, body weight, dietary intake, and perceptions of exercise and diet among college 30 healthy college freshmen. Outcomes were measured at baseline, and following the 10-week program. The weekly sessions incorporated constructs of the Transtheoretical Model of Health Behavior Change and were administered by fitness interns who were junior or senior college students enrolled in health-related majors. The participants presented with low physical activity, physical fitness, and poor dietary intake, and 50% were overweight/obese (BMI > 25). Participants demonstrated gains in their physical fitness and their perceived benefits to engaging in exercise and decreased their perceived barriers to engaging in exercise and a healthy diet. College freshmen presented with low levels of physical activity, poor dietary intake, and excess body weight. A peer-administered program can improve these measures and favorably change perceptions of exercise and diet.

OBJECTIVE: To compare body composition, hemodynamic parameters, health-related physical fitness, and health-related quality of life of adolescents with anthropometric diagnosis of overweight, obesity, and severe obesity.METHODS: 220 adolescents with excess body weight were enrolled. They were beginners in a intervention program that included patients based on age, availability, presence of excess body weight, place of residence, and agreement to participate in the study. This study collected anthropometric and hemodynamic variables, health-related physical fitness, and health-related quality of life of the adolescents. To compare the three groups according to nutritional status, parametric and non-parametric tests were applied. Significance level was set at p<0.05.RESULTS: There was no significant difference in resting heart rate, health-related physical fitness, relative body fat, absolute and relative lean mass, and health-related quality of life between overweight, obese, and severely obese adolescents (p>0.05). Body weight, body mass index, waist and hip circumference, and systolic blood pressure increased as degree of excess weightincreased (p<0.05). Dyastolic blood pressure of the severe obesity group was higher than the other groups (p<0.05). There was an association between the degree of excess weight and the prevalence of altered blood pressure (overweight: 12.1%; obesity: 28.1%; severe obesity: 45.5%; p<0.001). The results were similar when genders were analyzed separately.CONCLUSION: Results suggest that overweight adolescents presented similar results compared to obese and severely obese adolescents in most of the parameters analyzed.
