The article reveals the peculiarities of the use of athletics to improve the physical fitness of students of higher education institutions. The influence of physical education on motivation for athletics is also revealed. It is established that the use of means and methods of athletics in physical education classes in higher education institutions leads to a significant increase in the level of physical fitness. It was found that one of the factors influencing the growth of student morbidity and low level of their physical development is the lack of physical activity. The combination of these factors determines the level of physical fitness and efficiency, which, in turn, are important indicators of professional training of students. However, the use of other methods of strength development, the method of unsatisfactory efforts with a normalized number of repetitions, the method of unsatisfactory efforts with the maximum number of repetitions, the method of dynamic efforts, the shock method, the method of static efforts, the static-dynamic method, the method of circular training, the game method has a beneficial effect on the development of all physical qualities. The decrease in the indicators of general physical fitness is facilitated by the fact that during the holidays, students practically do not go in for sports on their own. As the analysis of the survey has shown, only students of higher educational institutions are independently engaged in physical culture.

The study aims to assess the variability of morphofunctional indicators of masculinity among students in Belarus over time and depending on the level of physical fitness. The research was carried out in 2016–2021 in Minsk (the Republic of Belarus). The sample consisted of 233 students (102 young men, 131 young women) aged 18 to 22. We also used the materials of our earlier study of 180 students (125 young men and 65 young women) of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. We compared our data to the archival data of the Department of Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus from the period 2000–2007: a total of 243 students in Minsk (98 young men, 145 young women). Anthropometric measurements of body length, body weight, shoulder width, pelvic width, waist circumference, hip circumference, tense shoulder circumference, relaxed shoulder circumference, length of the second and fourth fingers of both hands, wrist dynamometry of the right and left hand were carried out. The morphological indices were calculated. It was revealed that modern young men have more waist circumference than young men of the beginning of the XXI century. In young women, waist circumference and body weight showed greater stability. The width of the pelvis has decreased from the beginning of the 21st century to the present in both sexes. In modern young men, disharmony of physique due to excess body weight in relation to its length occurs more often than at the beginning of the century. The indicators of wrist dynamometry among modern Belarusian students have become lower compared to the beginning of the 2000s. The young men and women involved in physical culture had a significantly lower 2D:4D for the left hand and right hand than those who have a lower level of physical fitness. Thus, the study revealed the temporal variability of waist circumference, pelvic width, and dynamometry (strength capabilities) and the dynamics of morphological indices of masculinity among young students in Belarus.

Introduction. The article raises the issue of the use of health technologies in general secondary education. Emphasis is place on the fitness model of health technologies. Aim is to reveal the features of the physical culture and health model of health technologies and the results of experimental testing of the use of such a model in general secondary education. Material and methods. The following methods of research were used in scientific work: theoretical (analysis and generalization of scientific literature on the research problem) and empirical (observation, questionnaire, pedagogical research). Results. The results of the study prove that the level of physical activity of school children is mostly due to the organization of physical education at school and their involvement in various forms of physical activity in extracurricul aractivities, given that physical education lessons two or three times a week donot provide the necessary physical mode. Deficiency of motor activity is satisfied only by 20-30%. Indicators of physical activity for schoolchildren should be 10-15 hours per week, which are recommended by the WHO. This is what should be taken into account when planning and conducting physical education lessons and the organization of physical culture and health activities in generals econdary education. Conclusions. The monitoring of physical development of students in grades 4-8, inparticular the physical fitness of girls in experimental educational institutions, where a physical culture and health model of health technologies has been introduced, showed a significant advantage (compared to other educational institutions) in most indicators, especially functional readiness. Extracurricular sports activities and four physical education lessons per week were used to some extent. The boys have less pronounced indicators of significant changes, perhaps it should be noted only the 8th grade and 4th grade. This indicator, obviously, can be explained by the leveling of additional extracurricul aractivities for boys that they are more active in physical activity outside of school (sports, indoor soccer, etc.).

Abstract. This article analized the relationship between physical activity, physical condition and self-concept. A total of 103 schoolchildren (8-12 years old) participated in the assessment of these variables. Physical fitness was assessed through various tests from the ALPHA-Fitness Battery, level of physical activity was calculated through the PACE questionnaire, and self-concept was measured using the Piers-Harris Self-concept Scale. T-student, Mann-Whitney U, and Krustal-Wallis were employed for statistical analysis. Those who were physically active had better values in behavioral and intellectual domains of self-concept, as well as in lack of anxiety, and global self-concept. Those with greater physical fitness showed a better physical (p = .013), social (p = .003) and global (p = .085) self-concept. Those physically active with greater physical fitness had a better intellectual (p = .007), social (p = .010) and global (p = .010) self-concept. Being physically active and having a higher level of fitness could predict a more positive self-concept in schoolchildren of Murcia (Spain).

Intensive renewal of the socio-economic, scientific and technical spheres and the spiritual life of society determines high requirements for the capacity of the individual. Graduates of higher educational institutions determine the future of our country, so they must not only have a high level of professional readiness, but also be physically enduring, efficient and healthy. These personality traits are formed and improved during the student years by means of physical education. Physical education in higher educational institutions is an integral part of education. The level of their physical development and health depends on the quality of the organization and conduct of classes with students. At present, the health of the younger generation is of serious concern. Numerous works of modern researchers point to an increase in the level of diseases and focus on a decrease in the functional resistance of the body of students to physical activity. The subject of the research is the methodology of using means of physical culture and health-improving orientation in physical education classes. The aim of the research is to determine the influence of physical culture and health-improving orientation classes on the physical fitness of first-year students. Research objectives: to conduct an analysis of scientific and methodological literature and advanced pedagogical experience in relation to the topic under study; to determine the level of physical fitness of female students, using complex testing and to reveal the dynamics of indicators of physical fitness; to develop a program of physical education classes to improve the level of physical fitness and health of female students; to experimentally check the developed training methodology and determine its feasibility of introducing it into the educational process in physical education. In the course of organizing and conducting a scientific experiment, the following methods were used: analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature, pedagogical observations, control testing, mathematical processing of results. The study involved first-year students who study at the National University "Odesa Law Academy" and do not play sports. In the course of the experiment, a program of physical education classes was developed, which included sets of exercises for the development of physical qualities, as well as a health-improving orientation. These complexes were used in each physical education lesson twice a week on a schedule. The study made it possible to draw the following conclusions. The analysis of the results shows that at the initial stage of the research the majority of female students showed low results in all the tests. After conducting classes according to our methodology, at the second stage of the experiment, the results for some tests improved significantly. Thus, the proposed program of health related training had a positive impact on the results of physical fitness of female students.
