Background: In pediatric cancer, the legal obligation to provide information is usually toward the parents who are the authorized signatories of the informed consent form. It is now known that aside from providing information to the parents, it is also very important to provide information to the children and adolescents themselves. The question is how the adolescents relate to this. What information do they already possess and what would they like to know? Would they wish to hear the truth in all situations and at what stage? What are their preferred sources of information?Method: A quantitative study that included in-depth interviews with 19 adolescents with cancer, aged 8.5–18, who were receiving active treatments and had been diagnosed at least 1 month previously. The interviews were guided by 15 open-ended questions.Findings: The analysis of the interviews indicated that adolescents know quite a lot about the course of their disease and the information they lack is mainly etiological. The participants reported a lack of knowledge concerning sexuality and a sense of discomfort talking about it, leaving them with open questions. They all claimed that it is important to tell the truth: “Even if the truth is difficult, it is important to tell it.” The participants reported that information can be scary, so it must be structured and adapted to the age and emotional readiness of the individual. Most of the participants prefer not to use the internet as an information resource due to the profusion of stressful and non-adapted information. Conclusion: Adolescents with cancer need trustworthy information and prefer to receive it from a human source rather than from the internet. Not telling the truth can lead them to feel fear and loneliness. The medical staff must operate in sensitive and creative ways to provide adolescents with access to information on various subjects, including sexuality, which they are ashamed to talk about, leaving them with a sense of shame and a lack of knowledge in this area.

The purpose of the article is to reveal the features of constructing a personal identity in a virtual environment. Methodology. The choice of research methods is determined by the purpose of the article and the subject of research, in particular, general scientific and empirical techniques are used, based on a systematic approach to the analysis of works on the problems of interpretation of virtual identity. The scientific novelty of the obtained research results lies in the correlation of the essence of the concepts "real identity" and "virtual identity", identifying the features and risks of the formation of the latter. The article highlights the factors of human construction of a "virtual" identity, which often occurs due to dissatisfaction of the individual with his real identity. It is emphasized that virtual reality provides ample opportunities for self-expression and disclosure of personal potential, but the desire to always "be online" affects the physical health of the user, thereby increasing his anxiety, leads to fatigue and irritability, exacerbation of hyperdynamic. The problem of excessive immersion in cyberspace has been identified: by abusing being in it, an unformed personality can lose life landmarks, assimilate programmed solutions and ready-made mental stamps. Conclusions. In social networks, a person can easily create an ideal image of himself, which is less authentic than the real one, because it reflects the individual's idea of an invented, ideal set of their own qualities, which are completed with ready visual, textual and audio network tools. Social "slowing down" in the Internet environment significantly reduces the moral level of communication in social networks and messengers. Even today, the level of trust among young people in semi-anonymous messages on the Internet is higher than in traditional sources of information. At the same time, the unsystematic acquisition of knowledge in this way does not allow young people to form an established picture of the world, leaving it largely fragmented.

This paper outlines and challenges expectations and promises regarding the potential of the internet and Web 2.0 for empowering patients and citizens. It focuses on literacies required to make a meaningful (to the individual) use of these technologies for health and health care related purposes. The author briefly discusses how these should be taught and concludes that these literacies, including digital literacy and health literacy, are complex and challenging to many while the empowering claims are over-stated. Traditional sources of information and advice will remain essential to maintaining quality of health care.

The article offers an analysis of the consequences of the 1992 Ossetian-Ingush conflict conducted by a professional psychologist. The study involved 32 people, the relatives of those who became lost during this conflict. The object of analysis is the post traumatic growth, which was quantified on the basis of the questionnaire designed by R. G. Tеdeschi and L. G. Calhoun and adapted to the local circumstances by M. Sh. Magomed-Eminova. For in-depth interviews was used the questionnaire designed by the present author (R. Ganieva). It comprises 50 closed and open questions that imply two types of information: objective (e.g. date of birth, health, education, profession, etc.) and subjective (e.g. the level of satisfaction with life, self-identification as an individual who lives in this world, identifying what actually does mean a human life, the value of one’s life, perception of religion and self-identification within its framework, learning from positive experience, participation level in the work of the Committee, which helps to search after missing people, etc.). The in-depth interviews with relatives of those who has gone missing during the events of autumn1992 inthe Prigorodny district and the city ofVladikavkazdeal with the spiritual changes of an individual. These changes are considered to be an important component of post-traumatic growth as found among the relatives of the missing people. Analysis of the results gained has revealed that the majority of respondents (59 %) showed a high level of post-traumatic growth and demonstrated a high level of post-traumatic wisdom. Simultaneously, it was found that the acquisition and realization of the meaning of life is always associated with the outer world, as well as with the creative activity of a person, his/her subject parameters and achievements. An evaluation of the interview showed that the categories of faith and spirituality were crucial for the person’s post-traumatic growth, These categories were instrumental in maintaining psychological stability in a difficult life situation.

Abstract Background A developmental disorder of a child has a major impact on the affected families’ lives. However, data about the parents’ perception of the revealing of the diagnosis is scarce. Patients and Methods Parents of children with developmental disorder treated as outpatients in a university hospital were interviewed about the initial medical consultation concerning the diagnosis of their child. Results Parents of 210 children agreed to take part in the study. 35/210 (17%) had to be excluded from the study as they were not able to remember the initial medical consultation, or claimed there was either no initial medical consultation or they did not attend it. The diagnosis of developmental disorder was made in median 4 months (Q25/Q75: 0/12; min/max: 0/63) after the parents had noticed the first symptoms. According to the parents, options to support the development of the child were the most frequently addressed topic in the initial medical consultation (119/175, 68%). Some parents wished more empathy (19/175, 11%), and less medical terminology (12/175, 7%). 114/175 (65%) of parents rated the initial medical consultation as “very good” or “good”. After their initial medical consultation, 66/175 (38%) of the parents had open questions mainly concerning the prognosis of the disease. Sources of information that were used after the consultation were most often the treating physician (150/175, 86%) and the internet (133/175, 76%). Conclusion Generally, parents perceive the initial medical consultation on the developmental disorder of their child well. Nevertheless, many parents state that they had unanswered questions after the consultation. The internet is one of the main sources parents use to answer those questions.

The mitoni tradition is a Javanese cultural heritage that is still being held by Javanese people in the village of Tuntang, Tuntang District, Semarang District, Central Java until now. The mitoni ceremony is carried out in the seventh month of Javanese pregnancy. This study aims at examining the spiritual values of the mitoni tradition as socio-cultural “glue.” This research was motivated by dangerous facts, namely the threat of disharmony in the social community. The method applied in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were used in-depth interviews and observations. Interviews were conducted by giving open questions to community leaders in the village of Tuntang. In this study, the sources of information were traditional leaders as representatives of the Tuntang village community. This research was tested as a socio-cultural adhesive in Tuntang village through spiritual values, namely: 1). Ngruwat sukerta. 2). Cecawis. 3). Sembada. 4). Panampi. 5). Wilujeng. 6). Ngrumat bumi. 7). Pitutur. 8). Rukun. 9). Pitulungan. These spiritual values are symbolic of Javanese ideology which is eschatological. This value serves to maintain social harmony. The results of this study are recommended for religious leaders and traditional leaders to apply this cultural approach, by making mitoni as a socio-cultural “glue.”

BACKGROUND Due to the religious proscription, it was found that Arab youths acquire information and view pornography secretly. The internet exposes them to contents that contradict religious and cultural taboos. There are few studies about viewing habits of sexual contents among Arab adolescents and about the way they discuss sexuality. OBJECTIVE to characterize the barriers and difficulties that prevent sexual discourse in Arab society and enable pornography viewing, according to the perceptions of adolescents and mothers. METHODS phenomological qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews with 40 participants. 20 Arab adolescents, sampled by two age groups: 14-16 and 16-18. In addition, 20 mothers of adolescents from both sexes were interviewed. RESULTS The findings indicate that mothers “turn a blind eye” to porn viewing and sexual activity by boys, versus a sweeping prohibition and denial of such behavior by girls. The boys reported viewing porn routinely, whereas girls denied doing so, but admitted that their girlfriends watched porn. The study also found that the boys have guilt feelings during and after the viewing as a result of the clash between modernity and traditional values. CONCLUSIONS It is necessary to find a way to encourage a significant sexual discourse to prevent the violent consequences of its absence in Arab society. A controlled, transparent and critical sexual discourse could help youth make more informed decisions concerning the search for sexual contents, porn viewing and sexual behavior.

BACKGROUND The Internet has become one of the most important sources of health information, accessed daily by an ever-growing number of both patients and physicians, seeking medical advice and clinical guidance. A deeper insight into the current use of the Web as source of information on epilepsy would help in clarifying the individual attitude towards this medium by Internet users. OBJECTIVE We investigated views towards the Internet in a sample of Italian healthcare specialists involved in epilepsy field, to explore factors which explained the influence of information found on the internet. METHODS This study was a self-administered survey conducted in a group of members of the Italian Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) in January 2018. RESULTS 184 questionnaires were analyzed. 97.8% of responders reported to seek online information on epilepsy. The Internet was most frequently searched to obtain new information (69.9%) or to confirm a diagnostic or therapeutic decision (37.3%). The influence of consulting the Internet on clinical practice was associated with registration to social network(s) (OR: 2.94; 95%CI: 1.28-6.76; p=0.011), higher frequency of Internet use (OR: 3.66; 95%CI: 1.56-9.21; p=0.006) and higher confidence in reliability of online information (OR: 2.61; 95%CI: 1.09-6.26; p=0.031). No association was found with age, sex, years in epilepsy practice or easiness to find online information. CONCLUSIONS Internet is frequently used among healthcare professionals involved in the epilepsy to obtain information about this disease. The attitude of being influenced by the Internet for diagnostic and/or therapeutic decisions in epilepsy is independent on age and years of experience in epilepsy, and probably reflects an individual approach towards the Web.
