Boundary-spanning search for knowledge is an effective way for enterprises to acquire heterogeneous knowledge, and is also an important pre-stage to realize effective knowledge reconstruction. Based on the boundary-spanning search for knowledge theory, this paper studies the relationship between boundary-spanning search for knowledge and the sustainable innovation ability of agricultural enterprises considering the influence of organizational knowledge reconstruction, from a Chinese perspective. A questionnaire survey on agricultural enterprises mainly from Southeast China is conducted, and the hierarchical regression analysis method is utilized to verify five research hypotheses. The results mainly show that (1) boundary-spanning search for technology knowledge (BSSTK) and boundary-spanning search for market knowledge (BSSMK) both have a significant positive impact on the sustainable innovation ability of an agricultural enterprise; (2) organizational knowledge reconstruction plays a partial intermediary role between boundary-spanning search for knowledge (including BSSTK and BSSMK) and the sustainable innovation ability of an agricultural enterprise. From the perspective of boundary-spanning search for knowledge, this paper provides theoretical support for the promotion of sustainable innovation of an agricultural enterprise, which contributes to improving the economic sustainability of agriculture to some extent.

Introduction. The agrarian sector is an important strategic branch of the national economy that ensures food security and food independence of our country. The presence of risks and threats pose a risk to the entity. In this context, the relative importance of security should be emphasized, since the possibility of threats and their suddenness can hardly be ruled out if the subject seeks dynamic development, but can minimize their impact by planning and developing a security strategy. The study is aimed at assessing the financial security of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises, outlining threats at the macro and micro levels of the economy in order to formulate measures to minimize such threats. Methods. Such general philosophical and special methods as analysis, synthesis, scientific abstraction, historical, grouping, tabular, and arithmetic were used in the study. Results. The agricultural industry has a number of factors that have a positive impact on its financial security, but most of them affect the financial security of both macro and micro-level economies. For example, in 2019, agricultural exports, agricultural expenditures and support lines increased positively. However, environmental issues remain unresolved and exacerbate their situation. The need to review the state’s support for farmers was identified. Most agricultural enterprises do not have sufficient own resources and credit for innovative development. Conclusions. Ensuring of the economic security of agricultural enterprises requires effective management of available resources, which are capable to ensure the process of extended reproduction. Moreover, it is vital to ensure financial sustainability while preserving the environment, update the composition of fixed production facilities, attract and train qualified personnel, improve the competitiveness of agricultural products, and expand distribution channels. Prospects. Further research is needed by the measures of minimization of the educed threats to financial safety of agricultural enterprises.

Recognising that implementing an agricultural enterprise impacts the state of the environment, its ecological stability, and the self- regulatory capabilities of ecosystems, the aim of this paper is to acquaint the professional and lay public about the attitudes of Slovakian agricultural enterprises towards environmental protection and sustainable development. The paper draws attention to present methods, techniques, and tools that enterprise management are applying for the purpose of meeting and overcoming environmental challenges. The data for this research were obtained from controlled interviews and a questionnaire survey conducted across more than 90 agricultural enterprises. Based on the data outcomes, research premises and formulated research hypotheses put forward are verified by using Friedman, Wilcoxon, Kruskal–Wallis, and Pearson chi-square tests. Discussion of the findings points out that although Slovakia is not yet one of the most polluting countries, promoting the application of environmental protection approaches for sustainable development is of the essence. The most important agriculturally related step, mitigating environmental degradation, is to promote changes in the moral values of agricultural enterprises and the society through enhanced environmental awareness and application practices.

Targeting at students randomly selected across all departments and all years at one university located in northern Taiwan, this research based on hierarchical regression analysis aims to investigate whether or not global warming awareness education exerts a positive effect on research participants’ energy-saving cognition and attitude. the results indicate that the 8 hypotheses proposed are all supported. Firstly, green education courses and global warming awareness videos have significantly positive impact on participants’ cognition and attitude as compare to their peers who did not take the courses or view the videos. Secondly, the participants’ scientific literacy positively influences their energy-saving cognition, which in turn positively impacts on energy-saving attitude. Furthermore, energy-saving cognition plays a completely intermediate role between scientific literacy and energy-saving attitude. Results mentioned conclude the contributions of this research.

The prerequisites of optimal plan for resource management of an agricultural enterprise to get the maximum profit with ensuring acceptable dynamics of resource potential are analyzed in the article. It is established that the maximum level of economic return is possible in special condition with corresponding alternation of resource-restoring and intensive mode. Moreover, the intensive mode is inefficient in special economic conditions due the aftereffect of this mode critically reduces the resource potential of an agricultural enterprise. It is proved that the optimal plan of the proposed mechanism resource management has common features with an intensive resource using mode than with a resource-restoring one. It indicates about the economic orientation of optimal resource management. The resource-restoring practice is a necessary tool for ensuring a sustainable level of resource potential. Based on the results of a comparative analysis with alternative scenarios for the development of resource management practices, the effectiveness of the optimal plan is proved. Effective management of production conditions that form the resource potential of agricultural enterprises creates competitive advantages in the form of additional economic benefits. This is a necessary prerequisite for the reproduction of resources of an agricultural enterprise as the basis of sustainable development of agricultural enterprises. It is proposed to use the principles of dynamic programming in the resource management of agricultural enterprises. Dynamic programming is defined as an effective alternative to adaptive mechanisms for improving the management of the resource potential of agricultural enterprises. The main advantage is the implementation of the goal-setting function of the management system in the system of strategic planning of enterprise development.

This research develops a difference-in-differences (DID) model to explore the relationship between environmental policy (The Measures for the Administration of Permits for the Discharge of Key Water Pollutants in the Huaihe and Taihu River Basins, MAPD) and the performance of firms involved in the paper and paper products industry (MPP) in China. Cost and innovation are introduced as mediators to explore the mediating effects. A firm-level dataset from 1998 to 2007 is adopted for empirical study. The findings support the positive role of the MAPD, and the average treatment effect is 0.016.The heterogeneity analysis shows that the MAPD exerts a positive impact on non-state-owned and small-scale enterprises, with coefficients of 0.018 and 0.021, respectively. Moreover, MAPD increases enterprise costs harming firm performance. On the other hand, it can promote firm performance by improving innovation ability.
