One of the important segments of pedestrian infrastructure are pedestrian bridges. The importance is greater if these bridges are of historical and cultural significance to the city or region. To manage these bridges, it is important to develop an approach that can enable systematic and organized decision-making for experts and policy makers. Hereby, a recovery of bridges is analyzed for the priority ranking of historic pedestrian bridges. Maps of Europe from XIX. Century for the area of Split-Dalmatia County (SDC) are used to locate the bridges. A total of nine bridges are identified, and a set of relevant criteria are defined to evaluate these bridges. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used for the comparison of criteria, evidential reasoning for the assessment of bridges according to each criterion, and then the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is conducted for priority ranking of bridges for the recovery planning. To achieve the final order of bridges it was crucial to take into account mechanical, dynamical, ecological, financial, and, also, social characteristics of these bridges, which was not an easy task. For this reason, the authors proposed a model of decision support to help policy and decision makers in the managing of recovery activities of historic road bridges. The model was conducted on the bridges in the area of SDC, built until the end of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.

Nowadays, it is a really important issue to improve the supply quality of city public bus transportation in many cases. Meanwhile, the different participants of transport systems have different ideas on the ways of improvement, for this reason the taken measures can be inefficient and expensive. The operational costs are steadily increasing (e.g. price of fuel, wages, etc.) therefore the decision makers do not really have the opportunity to lower the price of tickets. For solving the above mentioned problems, before creating a plan of improving a certain public system, a clear image should have been gained on the preferences of passengers, company managers and governmental decision makers. In the current paper a general three-level-hierarchical model has been set up to analyze dynamically the public bus transport system of a city. The price is excluded, only the elements of supply quality are assessed in the hierarchy. Based on the model, questionnaires were created and for the analysis, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to determine preference weights of evaluators from different evaluator groups. Passengers, company managers and governmental officers evaluated exactly the same type of questionnaires so the results are comparable. Avoiding the difficulties of other AHP applications, we used a simplified Saaty-scale for scoring so that the missing data of the matrices could be calculated by an algorithm as well. This study revealed a priority ranking of the elements of supply quality within each level, and this ranking is comparable among the participants of public bus system. This may help the policy makers to synthesize various aspects of public transportation.

Objective - This research analyses determinant factors and priority factors of trade industry performance based on 15 industries in Indonesia. Today, trade industry tends to develop well in Indonesia. It covers exporters, importers, modern markets (hypermarket and minimarket), and traditional markets. Methodology/Technique - This research uses Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyse primary data on factors of trade industry performance. Findings - Research results indicate that there are seven factors on trade industry performance. These are NF (AHP score: 0.37), ICT (0.19), BIT (0.10), BR (0.10), BP (0.09), DC (0.08), and BE (0.07). It means that number of firm becomes the first factor while business efficiency becomes the last factor that drives business performance. Novelty - This finding can be used by trade industry associations and policy makers to manage and regulate firms involved in commerce. Power-to-gas is an energy storage and vector technology which can utilize off-peak power, assist in the integration of renewable power and provide needed fuel for industry and transportation. Further, power-to-gas is a useful technology for balancing surplus baseload and renewable energy generation with demand. There are numerous applications of power-to-gas in Europe, where renewable power is used to generate hydrogen for numerous applications. Examining each of these power-to-gas pathways across quantitative and qualitative criteria, this paper utilizes the stochastic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to determine criteria weights. These weights are then fed to a multiple criteria decision analysis tool to determine the viability of each pathway for investors and policy makers. A sensitivity analysis is carried out by reprioritizing the criteria and re-evaluating the multiple criteria analysis. The two pathways that score highest under multiple criteria rankings are power-to-gas to mobility-fuel and power-to-gas-to-power, due to their established technologies, lower costs and environmental performance. By extension, both of these power-to-gas pathways are the most appropriate ways for this technology to be implemented, due to their combination of public familiarity, emissions reductions, and developed, available technologies.

Entikong is a sub-districts located in the borderline, northern end of Sanggau Regency directly adjacent to Sarawak, Malaysia. The growth of Entikong as a center of growth does not provide a downward trickle effect, but it creates an excessive resources exploitation effect to the surrounding area (backwash effect). The land use within an area should be adjusted to its function. For that reason, this research will determine the priority and rank of land use by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The ranking is based on four aspects of criteria; social, economic, institutional, and environmental. The hierarchy model is sorted into alternatives, criteria, and sub-criteria. The criteria and subcriteria are compared, as well as the value of consistency. After data processing and analyzing with Expert Choice software version 11, the researcher found that the main priority of land use in Entikong is for plantation, which is 29,7%. Sidoarjo Regency is one of the megapolitan Gerbang Kertosusilo. The planted area during the rainy season and dry season reaches 30,000 ha. The area of paddy fields continues to decline, namely 26,334 ha (2002), 22,460 ha (2010), and an estimated 13,544 ha (2009–2029). Sidoarjo Regency Irrigation Service as executor of irrigation management is of course inseparable from construction project activities. In the implementation of the construction of new irrigation networks as well as in rehabilitation and maintenance, it is necessary to implement project management. Before the project is implemented, it must first be submitted through proposals from the village level. In following up the proposal the writer used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis method. With four aspects that affect the determination of the proposal: The results of the analysis obtained the weight of each criterion as follows: Service Area (ha) 0.3179, Cost 0.3159, Benefits 0.3217, and Network Conditions 0.0445. The results of the above analysis obtained priority ranking from the first to the last sequence as follows: Plengsengan Gedangrowo Channel, Normalization of Reform Channels, Installation of floodgates, Plengsengan ChannelsDs. Suwaluh, Rehabilitation of Ketawang Canal Kec. Sukodono, Rehabilitation of Candi Subdistrict Channel, Plengsengan Channel Ds. Suwaluh, Plengsengan Channels Purboyo II Ds. Sustainability has gained tremendous importance and has been an important issue both for policy makers and practitioners. Realizing that the resources on the earth are limited, renewable energy alternatives have flourished and started to replace the conventional energy alternatives. Energy planning using different energy alternatives, for the long term becomes a vital decision. In this study, fuzzy multi criteria decision- making methodologies, axiomatic design (AD) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) are utilized for ranking both renewable and conventional energy alternatives. In the first phase AHP is utilized to determine the importance of the criteria and in the second phase fuzzy AD is used to evaluate the experts’ assessments. In the case study, both conventional and renewable energy alternatives are evaluated according to technical, economical, air quality and site selection perspectives. The case study results show that the renewable energy alternatives (biomass, geothermal power and wind) perform better than the conventional energy resources.

With the higher education landscape getting increasingly competitive, the role of marketing has come to the surface. The current study is conducted to prioritise the determinants affecting the attitude of the students pursuing their studies in a particular business school at a private university of Bangladesh. Five criteria are considered in this regard where Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is applied to rank the chosen criteria. The results derived through Expert Choice software version 11.0 indicate that promotional activities are ranked first having a weight of about 52%; this is followed by the quality of teaching staff with around 22%. The other two criteria ‘Service provided by the business school’ and ‘Campus facilities’ are ranked third and fourth with about 12% and 11%, respectively. Co-curricular activities turn out to be of least importance having a weight of 3.4% only. Based on the results, a few marketing strategies are recommended for the policy makers to consider as they cope with the pressure of heightened competition in the market. Suggestions for some avenues of future research are also put forward.

<p>A major challenge for decision makers in business organization is making appropriate choices among competing high-tech projects. The objective of this paper is to explore a multi-criteria analytical model that can be used for the selection and management of competing manufacturing technologies. The model uses an integrated approach combining Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) as the basis for selecting a preferred alternative from a set of competing projects. Integration of the two techniques helps to provide a more effective selection process. Two competing chemical processes to produce drugs are used as a case study to demonstrate and validate the AHP – QFD model. The policy makers of pharmaceutical and chemical organizations can use this model as a part of their strategic planning and decision-making process.</p>

AbstractUnplanned and haphazard built-up growth due to immense pressure of population is a common problem for maximum cities of developing countries which paves to create urban sprawl by capturing spacious areas of natural environment. For this, selection of suitable places for built-up development by maintaining ecological balance has become inevitable part for proper urban planning. Siliguri planning area, which has witnessed a tremendous growth in built-up features after the 1990, has been chosen for this work to find out best places for future built-up development with minimum effects on different natural features and also calculates the amount of different types of suitability which will be transferred from different land use and land cover categories in near future which is a novelty of this work. The work has been executed through GIS-based multi-criteria analysis, and a total of nine criteria have been taken to locate best places for built-up development. Analytic hierarchy process or AHP has been used to calculate weights of each criterion by using pair wise comparison matrix. Final site suitability map has been prepared with four different classes: high suitable, moderate suitable, less suitable and restricted area and the percentage of land is high in moderate suitable category that is 52.33% which covers the intermediary portion, mainly wastelands and agricultural land of the study area with higher facility of accessibility. Results from this work would be helpful for the planners, stakeholders, policy makers by identifying best locations for the intensive developmental projects in near future.

In an effort to provide motivation to improve the dedication and performance of the teller, the selection of the best teller is done periodically every year, some criteria that are performance appraisals are discipline, initiative, thorough, friendly, and speed of service, During this time the assessment of tellers by the Branch Manager does not yet have a method that can handle priority problems with many of these criteria so that the Branch Manager often has difficulty in choosing the best employee objectively.For the sake of work efficiency and effectiveness, we need an appropriate decision-making method with the aim to build and provide an alternative to a decision support system that is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method,in the AHP method there is the concept of eigen vector for the priority ranking process of each criterion based on a pairwise comparison matrix, this will facilitate the process of selecting the best teller because the concept is simple, easy to understand,the computation is efficient and has the ability to measure performance and alternative decisions in a simple mathematical form,so that we will get the best teller who deserves to get the best teller (bonus) allowance and a better career path in the future. And application programs are made in order to facilitate the application of the use of the AHP method when implemented.
