The paper addresses through the new type concept the analysis of the feasibility of agricultural systems adaptable to environmental requirements. The development of a conceptual system for the feasibility of soil techniques through the responsible management of agricultural technological mechanisms can be expected to mitigate the impact of climate change. This paper analyzes the role of agricultural technologies based on the implementation of sustainable agriculture; as well as their interconnectivity in the local environment. This paper investigates in the foreground the state of agricultural systems in interdependence with climate change, a condition synec vanon of decarbonization of agriculture. The relationship between ecologically responsible agricultural systems places the innovative design of agricultural processes as the first factor in achieving the success of environmental responsibilities in addressing any agricultural processes customized to the area through the symbiosis between production in order to protect the biosphere. Thus, the constraints of reducing the consumption of chemical fertilizers in agriculture have gained new value at the same time as the interest of producers to gradually comply with the new more sustainable environmental requirements by optimizing synergies in the vision of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The paper also identifies the risks of degradation of natural resources as an effect of environmental change, such as phosphorus, a much-needed element in agriculture, a declining global resource. From the empirical analysis of the analyzed sources we followed on the basis of statistical data a calibration of the risk trends generated by the impact of the adaptability of agriculture to environmental requirements, in achieving an agriculture designed for sustainability.

A study was undertaken in collaboration with eight Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and five Learning and Experience based Advisor (LEAD) farmers were selected by each KVK, employing socio-metric technique. Hence, data were solicited from 40 LEAD farmers from eight districts who were trained by KVKs. Role of KVKs were determined based on their Index Value (IV). Study reveals that KVKs played an important role in skill development of LEAD farmers through organisation of need based and skill-oriented trainings (IV=62) followed by front-line demonstrations on location specific agricultural technologies at farmers’ fields (IV=59.42), and developing linkages between LEAD and fellow farmers (IV=58.33). Key determinants accountable for enhancing effectiveness of this model were enhanced technology adoption (IV=60.13) followed by enhanced agricultural production (IV=57.48) and productivity (IV=57.10). Study reveals that one LEAD farmer adopted 5 agricultural technologies from KVKs. Further, fellow farmers adopted 2 agricultural technologies from LEAD farmers. Hence, it was concluded that this approach may play a significant role in complementing Indian public extension system through reducing cost and coverage of more farm families. This model needs community as well as government support for sustainability and its scalability.

Abstract: The article deals with new type of asymmetric warfare and hybrid war. The potential threats in international politics and global security issues, Euro-Atlantic Alliance policy of fighting against terrorism. A serious challenge to modern security creates many problems around the world. The beginning of the twenty-first century was marked by proliferation of hybrid wars, held between flexible and sophisticated adversaries engaged in asymmetric conflicts using various forms. The hybrid war is caused by a hybrid threat, a blend of military and non-military assets and operations, terrorism, guerrilla tactics, criminality and cyber attacks. The use of hybrid type tactics can ensure the achievement of the main objectives of an international actor, with a minimum of effort, usually without using the force, and can deny to the target/victim the possibility to take any defensive actions. The complexity, diversity, the nature and dynamics of contemporary conflicts represent challenges that should be widely studied. The war, be it ancient or modern, hybrid or not, is always complex and cannot be described by a single adjective. The work focuses on the role of NATO in ensuring peace worldwide in the context of new asymmetric threats. The aim of the research topic: analyzing global challenges, which pose a serious threat to international security.

Crop monocultures encourage the multiplication and spread of pest insects on massive and uniform crop. Numerous studies have evaluated the impact of plant diversification on pests and beneficial arthropods population dynamics in agricultural ecosystems and provided some evidence that habitat manipulation techniques like intercropping can significantly influence pest control. This paper describes various potential options of habitat management and design that enhance ecological role of biodiversity in agroecosystems. The focus of this review is the application and mechanisms of biodiversity in agricultural systems to enhance pest management.

The number of Internet users around the world has been steadily growing and this growth has provided the impetus and the opportunities for global and regional e-commerce. However, as with the Internet, different characteristics (infrastructure and socio-economic) of the local environment have created a significant level of variation in the acceptance and growth of e-commerce in different regions of the world. Our research focuses on the impact of these infrastructure and socio-economic factors on e-commerce development in China and the findings provide insights into the role of culture in e-commerce, and the factors that may impact a broader acceptance and development of e-commerce in China. In this chapter, we present and discuss our findings, and propose some strategies for success for e-commerce in China.

This study examines the role played by purnawirawan (retired military officers) in political party development in post-authoritarian Indonesia from 1998 to 2014. The role of purnawirawan remains a critical research gap in the literature on democratisation in post-authoritarian Indonesia, particularly in studies which focus on civilian–military relations. The article finds that purnawirawan have had a significant impact on the creation of a new type of party – one which combines military-centred leadership and civilian-controlled management. This new arrangement has enabled these former military officers to protect their interests. This study contributes to the existing literature on the impact of military reform on the increasing numbers of purnawirawan turning to civilian politics in order to maintain influence via electoral political contestation in the context of democratic transition.

Urbanisation has given significant impact to various sectors, particularly in agriculture. Essentially, agricultural production activities depend heavily on land resources. At the same time, land is also needed as vital resources for the country development. Despite of the initiative of urbanism to better the country development process, it has raised concern among the land administrator regarding the status of the national’s food security. Food security has been threatened by the needs of the physical development due to urbanisation. Therefore, this article attempts to study the impact of urbanisation on the agriculture sector and examined the role of urbanism to safeguard the land resources for food security purposes. It is hope that, this article will form an inclusive understanding regarding the idea of urbanism in pursuing the betterment of an economic progress without compromising the needs for the national food security.

Modern agricultural production considers intensive use of agro-technology and chemical agents, which in addition to multiple benefits, results in loss of diversity. One of the methods for improvement of ecological interactions within the agroecosystem is increasing the diversity of cultivated plants. Previous studies have shown the impact of diversification of crops on pest populations in agricultural agroecosystems and demonstrated how certain techniques such as intercropping, can significantly affect the control of herbivores. This paper presents the influence and the role of intercropping in suppression of pests, weeds and diseases. According to the data presented, it is evident that, by using intercropping, multiple beneficial effects for the plant populations can be achieved, followed by development of resistance mechanisms, as well as production of compounds with suppressive effects on overall plants pathogens, weeds and pests.

Starting in 1988, several European COST Actions (810, 821 and 838) have focused on understanding the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in sustainable agriculture and natural ecosystems. The latest COST Action on AMF, Action 870 “From Production to Application of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Agricultural Systems: a Multidisciplinary Research”, ran from February 2007 to February 2011 and a total of 26 European countries participated. A meeting of WG2 and WG3 was organized in 13-15 December 2010 by MTT Agrifood Research Finland and the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The meeting was held at the University of Jyväskylä. The general themes of the meeting were “Utilization of AMF in extreme stress conditions” (WG3) and “Quality control of AM fungal inoculum” (WG2). The role of AMF in arid, saline or heavy metal contaminated sites was discussed in several papers. Also the impact of temperature on AM function and possibilites of utilizing AMF in low- and high-input agricultural systems were discussed. Papers on the role of AMF in controlling biotic stress, i.e. plant diseases, of crops were also presented. This special issue of Agricultural and Food Science contains a selection of papers presented at the COST Action 870 meeting in Jyväskylä, December 2010.

Currently, there are major changes in the concept of designing farming systems. They are associated with bridging the gap between socio-economic demands for increasing agricultural production and the scientific justification for sustainable agricultural land use. The article presents the results of solving this problem based on the use of an integrated system for modeling the production process of agricultural plants developed by the authors. This system was applied to analyze various agricultural technologies, in particular, alternative strategies for planning crop rotations in cropping systems. For this, the following tools existing in the environment of the developed system were used: 1) long-term analysis of a possible change in the fertility of agricultural fields when using different agricultural technologies; 2) substantiation of the selected crop rotation scheme, which includes various agricultural technologies and resource-saving measures; 3) model-based approach to assess the comparative effectiveness of alternative land use strategies. The first part of the article presents the results obtained using tools for assessment alternative agricultural technologies for harvesting associated with the abandonment or removal of plant residues from the agricultural field, as well as the impact of these agricultural technologies on the parameters of soil fertility in the long term. The results of the simulation show that the abandonment of crop residues has a positive effect on the dynamics of humus in the soil and on the nitrogen content in the meter soil layer. In the second part of the article, the results of the analysis of the comparative effectiveness of various crop rotation schemes and such agricultural activities as the application of organic fertilizers, the use of leguminous and winter catch crops are presented. The analysis made it possible to rank these measures in terms of the effectiveness of the impact on agricultural production; the use of organic fertilizers (manure) and including legumes in the crop rotation were the most effective ones. The presented results demonstrate the potential demand for the proposed methods and the developed integrated system for modeling the production process of agricultural plants to substantiate the elements of farming systems and analyze their impact on sustainable development.
