Spain and Italy are amongst the European countries where the COVID-19 pandemic has produced its major impact and where lockdown measures have been the harshest. This research aims at understanding how the corona crisis has been represented in Spanish and Italian media, focusing on reference newspapers. The study analyzes 72 front pages of El País and El Mundo in Spain and Italy’s Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica, collecting 710 news items and 3456 data evidences employing a mixed method (both qualitative and quantitative) based on content analysis and hemerographic analysis. Results show a predominance of informative journalistic genres (especially brief and news), while the visual framing emerging from the photographic choice, tend to foster humanization through an emotional representation of the pandemic. Politicians are the most represented actors, showing a high degree of politicization of the crisis.

This article examines how war memory circulates, connects and collides on digital media platforms driven by digital publics that form around popular culture. Through a case study of vernacular memory discourses emerging around a game inspired by the Yugoslav war, the article investigates how the commenting practices of YouTube users provide insights into the feelings of belonging of conflict-affected subjects that go beyond ethnicity and exceed geographical boundaries. The comments of 331 videos were analysed, using an open source tool and sequential mixed-method content analysis. Media-based collectivities emerging on YouTube are influenced by the reactive and asynchronous dynamics of comments that stimulate the emergence of micro-narratives. Within this plurality of voices, connective moments focus on shared memories of trauma and displacement beyond ethnicity. However, clashing collective memories cause disputes that reify identification along ethnic lines. The article concludes that memory discourses emerging in the margins of YouTube represent the affective reactions of serendipitous encounters between users of audio-visual content.

This article examines the use of anonymous sources in Solomon Star and Island Sun daily newspapers in Solomon Islands. It is aimed to explore why the two newspapers use anonymous sources in the news stories they publish. The two national newspapers face many challenges in maintaining a strong sense of ethics and accountability as most reporters are not qualified, and they compete in a small advertising market to generate revenue. Consequently, they also face challenges from politicians and other public figures over publishing anonymous sources in their papers. The challenges range from threats, intimidation, compensation demands to court battles. This study includes a content analysis of the daily papers and interviews with the editors of both papers and individuals who are affected by the issue.

Universities of technology in Zimbabwe enrol students with various background educational qualifications for Textile, Clothing and Design programmes. The students are combined and learn in same class resulting in high students’ failure rate, drop outs, late completion of degree programmes, and poor performance of graduates. Thus researchers sought to examine curriculum adaptation procedures used to cater for the students. Post-positivism paradigm in mixed method research approach was adopted for the study. Interviews with TCD management, document analysis, and questionnaire with lecturers yielded qualitative and quantitative data. Findings revealed that lecturers employed various uncoordinated methods to adapt the curriculum content to cater for the students

The agribusiness honey has grown considerably in recent years from the high demand of society for natural products. Thus, the present work aims to analyze the supply chain of honey in the Associação Comunitária dos Agricultores Familiares do Perímetro Irrigado e Adjacências (ACAFPA) - Pau dos Ferros / RN.The type of research used to achieve the study is framed as exploratory, descriptive, documentary and case study. Concerning the nature of the data, the methods are qualitative and quantitative. The universe of study sets up a total of 16 members who actively participate in the activities of ACAFPA, and the value of the sample is 13 people. Defined as the collection instruments structured form, a standardized interview and direct observation and treatment of these data were made using descriptive statistics and content analysis. As a result, it was pointed out the improvement of beekeeping production system, due to the intervention of ACAFPA to promote the development of beekeeping, but realize that there are still limitations in the production chain. Finally, viewing, among other factors, the need to improve the applicant partners through courses and that measures are taken to enable the standardization of production processes and quality control of honey.

The prime focus of this research was exploring the role of classroom situation in hampering L2 communicative interaction at the public sector colleges, universities, and the sub-campuses of these universities located in the South Punjab, Pakistan. The present study was duly prearranged to employ a mixed-method technique that utilizes both the qualitative and quantitative data. The outcomes of the study determined that 86.5% of learners claimed that their classmates are not interested in communicative interaction. Similarly, 47.5% viewed outdated syllabus, 52.5% classroom atmosphere, 69.5% learners' prohibited participation during L2 lecture, 37.5% badly imitation by classmates and 95.5% teachers' use of grammar-translation method as communicative barriers and these barriers ruin L2 learners’ communicative ability. This paper also reinforces the outlook that the teachers have to expose the students to the interactive communication so that the learners can easily perform their various roles in the L2 atmosphere. At this point, it is the most crucial duty of the teacher to encourage and motivate his students to practice and to have more communicative interaction in the EFL classroom because most of the non-native countries students don't have the chance to use it outside the classroom.

Research on early bilingual development has suggested that syntactic transfer in bilingual acquisition is dependent on patterns of dominance and properties of the dual input the child is exposed to. In a case study of a Hong Kong bilingual child we present evidence of transfer from Cantonese to English in three areas where the two languages contrast typologically: wh-in-situ interrogatives, null objects and prenominal relatives are observed at a period when Cantonese is dominant as measured by MLUw. Comparisons with monolingual development show both qualitative and quantitative differences attributable to transfer. Language dominance is seen as the major determinant of transfer, with input ambiguity playing a role in the domain of null objects. While two distinct and separate linguistic systems are simultaneously developing in the bilingual mind, the pervasiveness of transfer implies a high degree of interaction between them. The findings show that the bilingual subject in our case study has taken a different path from monolinguals toward the target.

This study explores factors impacting learning English Language through the implementation of an authentic task-based method, dubbed English Souk (or Market English), currently employed at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Muscat, Oman. The present mixed-method study specifically aims to find answers to the following research questions: (a) How do General Foundation Programme (GFP) students assess the English Souk initiative? (b) What challenges, if any, do the English Souk participants face during the simulation of the activity? And (c) What impacts do they state the English Souk has on developing oral communicative skills in them? The results were obtained via questionnaires returned from 50 GFP English Souk participants as well as a focus group conducted with eight voluntary subjects which were mapped against the views of six GFP teachers. They revealed a high degree of common satisfaction amongst the student and faculty respondents with the aim and intended outcomes of the English Souk approach. They also uncovered how the innovative practice had a positive correlation with developing learners’ language skills, irrespective of the challenges they faced during the enactment of the activity. Implication of these and other issues for further investigation are discussed.

Adolescence is a phase where people want to experience new things in their life that this phase is vulnerable for their development. Various vulnerabilities can effect adolescence, which one of them is addicted and accessing to porn sites. This research used a mixed method approach between qualitative and quantitative research using descriptive form that aims to obtain an overview of the causes and forms of addiction to porn sites that experienced by adolescence. Informants in this research were 112 adolescence who consisted of 59 men and 53 women who were located in the city of Makassar aged 15-18 years old and never access porn sites, where researches used purposive sampling. This research used a addicted to porn sites scale that was adapted by the author based on Porn Addiction Assessment of Young as well as a questionnaire prepared by the researcher using a literature review regarding addiction porn sites as a research instrument. The data obtained will be analyzed using qualitative analysis model with a content analysis form and then processed using statistical methods of frequency distribution. The results in this research shows that pornographic in adolescent males is higher than adolescent girls. Factors that causes a person becomes addicted to porn sites are divided into external and internal, which external factors in this case is from friends, is the biggest factor that causes porn sites addiction in adolescents. However, internal factors, such as their own desires and curiosity will also affect adolescents addicted to porn sites. In addition, most teenagers in Makassar are classified as a compulsive sexual user. The researchers also found a new characteristic of user, namely defensive user based on the informants responses.

This case study examines and illustrates within country regional cultural differences and cross border cultural similarities across four western European countries. Drawing on the data from the World Values Survey (WVS), we refer to the Schwartz Cultural Values Inventory in the survey. The demographic variables of age, gender, education level, marital status and income vary across the regions and hence, have significant effects on the cultural value dimensions across regions. The findings help a better understanding of the homogeneity and heterogeneity of regions withinand across countries. Both researchers and managers will have to justify their sampling methods and generalisations more carefully when drawing conclusions for a whole country. This case study underlines the limited knowledge about regional within country cultural differences, while also illustrating the simplification of treating each country as culturally homogeneous. Cross-country business strategies connecting transnational regional markets based on cultural value characteristics need to take these similarities and differences into account when designating business plans.

The territorial image is formed both purposefully by the subjects of image-making, and spontaneously-based on the influence of information content published in various media. The purpose of the research is to analyze the image of the Republic of Mordovia in the information space of the Volga Federal district. The image of the territory formed by external target audiences by means of news materials is studied using the method of case study and content analysis of publications: “Volga news”, “Federal Press” news of the PFD, “Pravda PFD”. The authors conclude that modern reality is perceived through the prism of the information field created by mass media. The media creates images filled with certain data, facts, colored by emotions, on the basis of which representations, opinions, judgments, and assessments are subsequently formed. The media play a significant role in shaping the territorial image, especially for external target audiences who are not familiar with the region and do not have their own assessment knowledge and experience. Most of the information content about the Republic in the studied media is related to the main thematic blocks: politics, economy, social sphere, culture (art, sports). Moreover, if in the publications “Volga news” and “Pravda PFD” mention of the region prevails in the economic block, then in the publications “Federal Press” and “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” - in the political one. The Volga news publication significantly dominates the rest in terms of the number of publications about Mordovia. The content of publications is mostly positive and neutral related to the issues of economic development of the territory and the preparation and holding of the world football championship. Pravda PFD mentions the Republic in the context of news from neighboring territories, most of the publications date back to 2018, but here the context is related to the Republic's positions among the regions of the PFD in various ratings. The publication “Federal-Press” forms a generally reflective image of the territory, focusing on the negative aspects of regional life. “Nezavisimaya Gazeta”, giving priority to political news, maintains a neutral and reflective context of publications, paying attention to the key problems of the territory. Thus, the desired image of the region is counter-dictated to the image broadcast by the media through various information channels, so it is necessary to constantly monitor the information space and timely correction of the broadcast materials.
