Academic text recommendation, as a kind of text recommendation, has a wide range of application prospects. Predicting texts of interest to scholars in different fields based on anonymous sessions is a challenging problem. However, the existing session-based method only considers the sequential information, and pays more attention to capture the session purpose. The relationship between adjacent items in the session is not noticed. Specifically in the field of session-based text recommendation, the most important semantic relationship of text is not fully utilized. Based on the graph neural network and attention mechanism, this paper proposes a session-based text recommendation model (TXT-SR) incorporating the semantic relations, which is applied to the academic field. TXT-SR makes full use of the tightness of semantic connections between adjacent texts. We have conducted experiments on two real-life academic datasets from CiteULike. Experimental results show that TXT-SR has better effectiveness than existing session-based recommendation methods.

Regulation of feeding is a fundamental element of homeostasis. This is reflected in the similarity of control mechanisms in a wide range of animals, including insects and humans. A close examination of feeding behavior can illuminate the physiological processes driving regulation. A simple, inexpensive method for recording fine details of feeding by caterpillars is described. Possible experiments, interpretation of the data, and the relationship of observations to the underlying physiology, are outlined.

The relationship of polyketide melanogenesis molecular biology to that of nonmelanin-producing pathways in a wide range of fungi and other organisms is discussed. Analytical methods and fundamental properties of melanins are discussed and fungal melanin properties are compared with those of animal and bacterial melanins. The enzymatic degradation of melanins by lignin peroxidases is described.Key words: fungal melanin, polyketide melanin, DHN melanin, melanin degradation, melanin properties, melanin analysis.

This chapter examines the use of ekphrasis in early modern theatre, with particular emphasis on its effect on the stage and the relationship of ekphrastic speech to the ongoing action in which it is enunciated. It maps the parameters of ekphrasis on the early modern English stage by considering a few examples of the ways in which ekphrasis instantiates early modern theatricality. It also discusses the expressive potential of ekphrastic speech and its transmission to the listener as well as the ironic uses of ekphrasis as a mode of persuasion, whether directed to oneself, an on-stage auditor, off-stage auditors, or all three. It argues that ekphrasis creates nothing less than what it calls ‘the psyche of the play’ and explains how the unusually flexible capacity of the staged word allows it to be used for a wide range of theatrical techniques, including the usual sense of ‘word-painting’. Finally, it looks at William Shakespeare’s deployment of ekphrasis in his work such asHamlet.

<p>The work reported here builds upon a previous pilot study by the author on ANN-enhanced flow rating (Schmid, 2020), which explored the use of electrical conductivity (EC) in addition to stage to obtain ‘better’, i.e. more accurate and robust, estimates of streamflow. The inclusion of EC has an advantage, when the relationship of EC versus flow rate is not chemostatic in character. In the majority of cases, EC is, indeed, not chemostatic, but tends to decrease with increasing discharge (so-called dilution behaviour), as reported by e.g. Moatar et al. (2017), Weijs et al. (2013) and Tunqui Neira et al.(2020). This is also in line with this author’s experience.</p><p>The research presented here takes the neural network based approach one major step further and incorporates the temporal rate of change in stage and the direction of change in EC among the input variables (which, thus, comprise stage, EC, change in stage and direction of change in EC). Consequently, there are now 4 input variables in total employed as predictors of flow rate. Information on the temporal changes in both flow rate and EC helps the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) characterize hysteretic behaviour, with EC assuming different values for falling and rising flow rate, respectively, as described, for instance, by Singley et al. (2017).</p><p>The ANN employed is of the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) type, with stage, EC, change in stage and direction of change in EC of the Mödling data set (Schmid, 2020) as input variables. Summarising the stream characteristics, the Mödling brook can be described as a small Austrian stream with a catchment of fairly mixed composition (forests, agricultural and urbanized areas). The relationship of EC versus flow reflects dilution behaviour. Applied Linguistics is a diverse field, comprising a substantial number of sub-fields, sub-specialisations and related fields. To see that this is the case one need only examine the various hand- books and encyclopaedic references that have been published in the last ten years to see the wide range of topics that have been covered. As with many professional areas in academia, Applied Linguistics is organised around national organisations, with its international structure being a loose confederation known as the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA). Given these diverse academic and structural arrangements, it should not be surprising if academics within different national associations were to cluster around different interests within the field. This study explores the question of what emphases are found in various parts of the world in Applied Linguistics, and in particular, the relationship of Australian Applied Linguistics to international trends using a structural text analysis of abstracts related to Applied Linguistics as well as an historical review of the trends involved.

Today, a company continues its activities in a highly competitive environment regardless of the sector in which it operates. An important point has been emphasized in many developments by experienced managers and academics which have been released to the public. From marketing to finance, human resource management, auditing and planning, all business processes have entered an incredible innovative process. One of the topics in this process is big data. When cumulative data are not used, they cannot transcend being huge piles of garbage. However, it is not possible to analyze such large, complex, and dynamic data via conventional methods. At this point, the concept of big data has emerged. In this study, after the explanation and definition of the concept, a vast literature review was conducted in order to present the relationship of big data with IoT, big data-related topics, and academic researches on big data. Afterwards, real-life enterprise applications were exemplified from various industries.

Extracting keywords from a text set is an important task. Most of the previous studies extract keywords from a single text. Using the key topics in the text collection, the association relationship between the topic and the topic in the cross-text, and the association relationship between the words and the words in the cross-text has not played an important role in the previous method of extracting keywords from the text collection. In order to improve the accuracy of extracting keywords from text collections, using the semantic relationship between topics and topics in texts and highlighting the semantic relationship between words and words under the key topics, this article proposes an unsupervised method for mining keywords from short text collections. In this method, a two level semantic association model is used to link the semantic relations between topics and the semantic relations between words, and extract the key words based on the combined action. First, the text is represented with LDA; the authors used word2vec to calculate the semantic association between topic and topic, and build a semantic relation graph between topics, that is the upper level graph, and use a graph ranking algorithm to calculate each topic score. In the lower layer, the semantic association between words and words is calculated by using the topic scores and the relationship between topics in the upper network allow a graph to be constructed. Using a graph sorting algorithm sorts the words in short text sets to determine the keywords. The experimental results show that the method is better for extracting keywords from the text set, especially in short articles. In the text, the important topics, the relationship between topics and the correlation between words can improve the accuracy of extracting keywords from the text set.

Modeling the relationship between precipitation and water level is of great significance in the prevention of flood disaster. In recent years, the use of machine learning algorithms for precipitation–water level prediction has attracted wide attention in flood forecasting and other fields; however, a clear method to model the relationship of precipitation and water level using grid precipitation products with a neural network model is lacking. The issues of the method include how to select a neural network model, as well as how to influence the modeling results with different types and resolutions of remote sensing data. The purpose of this paper is to provide some findings for the issues. We used the back-propagation (BP) neural network and a nonlinear autoregressive exogenous model (NARX) time series network to model the relationship between precipitation and water level, respectively. The water level of Pingshan hydrographic station at a catchment area in the Jinsha River Basin was simulated by the two network models using three different grid precipitation products. The results showed that when the ground station data are missing, the grid precipitation product is a good alternative to construct the precipitation–water level relationship. In addition, using the NARX network as a model fitting network using extra inputs was better than using the BP neural network; the Nash efficiency coefficients of the former were all higher than 97%, while the latter were all lower than 94%. Furthermore, the input of grid products with different spatial resolutions has little significant effect on the modeling results of the model.

The article explores alternative media sustainability across a wide range of Greek projects. In this regard, it probes into a number of factors related to both the political economy (funding, organization) of these projects and the nature (real/‘imaginary’, broad reach/niche) of the relationship with their communities/audiences. The findings of the research reveal a dynamic and contradictory field regarding alternative media resilience in terms of the dialectical relationship of idealistic/realistic (on the production, organization level) and puristic/pragmatic (on the communication, reach level) features. The article concludes by highlighting the strategies employed by the most successful projects in terms of sustainability in relation to their positioning along the idealism/realism and purism/pragmatism nexus.
