Various approaches including hypothesis test and confidence interval (CI) construction have been proposed to assess non-inferiority and assay sensitivity via a known fraction or pre-specified margin in three-arm trials with continuous or discrete endpoints. However, there is little work done on the construction of the non-inferiority margin from historical data and simultaneous generalized CIs (SGCIs) in a three-arm trial with the normally distributed endpoints. Based on the generalized fiducial method and the square-and-add method, we propose two simultaneous CIs for assessing non-inferiority and assay sensitivity in a three-arm trial. For comparison, we also consider the Wald-type Bonferroni simultaneous CI and parametric bootstrap simultaneous CI. An algorithm for evaluating the optimal sample size for attaining the pre-specified power is given. Simulation studies are conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed CIs in terms of their empirical coverage probabilities. An example taken from the mildly asthmatic study is illustrated using the proposed simultaneous CIs. Empirical results show that the proposed generalized fiducial method and the square-and-add method behave better than other two compared CIs.

Herein, we present four methods for constructing confidence intervals for the ratio of the coefficients of variation of inverse-gamma distributions using the percentile bootstrap, fiducial quantities, and Bayesian methods based on the Jeffreys and uniform priors. We compared their performances using coverage probabilities and expected lengths via simulation studies. The results show that the confidence intervals constructed with the Bayesian method based on the uniform prior and fiducial quantities performed better than those constructed with the Bayesian method based on the Jeffreys prior and the percentile bootstrap. Rainfall data from Thailand was used to illustrate the efficacies of the proposed methods.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the mathematics problem-solving abilities of students who received the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model were better than the mathematics problem-solving abilities of students who received the Problem Solving learning model. The research was conducted at MTs Al-Iman Bulus Purworejo class IX A and IX B. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design, which refers to the instrument of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The study population came from grade IX students, with a total of 401 students. The sampling technique was cluster random sampling. The prerequisite test of normality, homogeneity, and balance before treatment showed that the data were normally distributed, homogeneous, and balanced. The prerequisite test for normality and homogeneity of the data after treatment showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The hypothesis test calculation using the t-test obtained of 2,2431 and with α = 5% ( ) of 1,6667. Based on the hypothesis testing results, the value of then is rejected; this means that the problem-solving ability of students who receive the MMP learning model is better than students who receive the Problem Solving learning model.

This research is a quasi-experimental study that aims to determine the comparison of students' mathematical communication abilities with the cooperative learning model of the NHT and PPT media in class VII SMP Negeri 02 Ngabang. The population in this study were all students of class VII SMP 02 Ngabang consisting of 3 classes. The sample in this study was taken by using the Random Sampling Cluster technique. Class VII A as class I experimental class with 24 students and class VII B as a experimental class II with 24 students. The instruments used were pretest and posttest in the form of description. Data analysis uses the t test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed the average posttest for the NHT class was 72.5 and the average posttest for the PP class was 66.666. From the posttest hypothesis test results obtained t hitung> t tabel (1.9522> 1,667). Because t_hitung> t_tabel, H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted. This means that students' mathematical communication skills taught with the NHT are better than using Power point media.

Abstract In forestry, the variable of interest is not always directly available from forest inventories. Consequently, practitioners have to rely on models to obtain predictions of this variable of interest. This context leads to hybrid inference, which is based on both the probability design and the model. Unfortunately, the current analytical hybrid estimators for the variance of the point estimator are mainly based on linear or nonlinear models and their use is limited when the model reaches a high level of complexity. An alternative consists of using a variance estimator based on resampling methods (Rubin, D. B. (1987). Multiple imputation for nonresponse surveys. John Wiley & Sons, Hoboken, New Jersey, USA). However, it turns out that a parametric bootstrap (BS) estimator of the variance can be biased in contexts of hybrid inference. In this study, we designed and tested a corrected BS estimator for the variance of the point estimator, which can easily be implemented as long as all of the stochastic components of the model can be properly simulated. Like previous estimators, this corrected variance estimator also makes it possible to distinguish the contribution of the sampling and the model to the variance of the point estimator. The results of three simulation studies of increasing complexity showed no evidence of bias for this corrected variance estimator, which clearly outperformed the BS variance estimator used in previous studies. Since the implementation of this corrected variance estimator is not much more complicated, we recommend its use in contexts of hybrid inference based on complex models.

The rupture degree of an incomplete connected graph G is defined by [Formula: see text] where w(G - S) is the number of components of G - S and m(G - S) is the order of a largest component of G - S. For the complete graph Kn, rupture degree is defined as 1 - n. This parameter can be used to measure the vulnerability of a graph. Rupture degree can reflect the vulnerability of graphs better than or independent of the other parameters. To some extent, it represents a trade-off between the amount of work done to damage the network and how badly the network is damaged. Computing the rupture degree of a graph is NP-complete. In this paper, we give formulas for the rupture degree of composition of some special graphs and we consider the relationships between the rupture degree and other vulnerability parameters.

Speaking is one of the productive skills in English. It acts as an important skill which becomes a depiction of students' result in studying English. Oftentimes, English ability is measured by their speaking because it serves a tool of communication which represents the major interaction with other people. But in fact, the condition of a learning process in a sphere of speaking has not supported students to master speaking ability yet. The application of techniques and methods are actually not interesting enough to attract them. Students tend to be passive when they are in learning about material related to speaking. The objectives of this research are; to find out students' speaking score by applying drama technique; to find out students' score by using simulation technique; to find out whether the drama is better than simulation technique in increasing students' speaking ability. The population of this research is 37 students in the fourth semester of English Department at the Muhammadiyah University of Metro. The researcher conducts systematic random sampling design and pre-test and post-test control group design as a research instrument. The result of hypothesis test on test phases both provides the different result which uses 5% significant degree, where a count is higher than t -table on the analysis data of post-test with t-count =2,36  and t-table =2,12. It shows that the students who are taught by drama technique having a higher score. In conclusion that drama technique is more effective than simulation technique in term of students' speaking ability.
