Excessive muscle tension is implicitly caused by inactivity or tension in daily activities, and it results in increased joint stiffness and vibration, and thus, poor performance, failure, and injury in sports. Therefore, the routine measurement of muscle tension is important. However, a co-contraction observed in excessive muscle tension cannot be easily detected because it does not appear in motion owing to the counteracting muscle tension, and it cannot be measured by conventional motion capture systems. Therefore, we focused on the physiological characteristics of muscle, that is, the increase in muscle belly cross-sectional area during activity and softening during relaxation. Furthermore, we measured muscle tension, especially co-contraction and relaxation, using a DATSURYOKU sensor, which measures the circumference of the applied part. The experiments showed high interclass correlation between muscle activities and circumference across maximal voluntary co-contractions of the thigh muscles and squats. Moreover, the circumference sensor can measure passive muscle deformation that does not appear in muscle activities. Therefore, the DATSURYOKU sensor showed the potential to routinely measure muscle tension and relaxation, thus avoiding the risk of failure and injury owing to excessive muscle tension and can contribute to the realization of preemptive medicine by measuring daily changes.

<p><em>Based on data from the Indonesia Ministry of Health in 2015, In Indonesia, new professional nurses were just 2% of the total nurses. This figure was much lower than the Philippines which has reached 40% with bachelor and master level as their education. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between age, and leadership with the performance of health personnel</em><em>. </em><em>The design of this research was analytical research with Cross Sectional Study. The population in this study was all nurses and doctors who served in the internal room, children, surgery and midwifery</em><em>. </em><em>Sampling using total sampling</em><em> </em><em>by questionnaires. The data was processed by univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi-square test</em><em>. </em><em>The result showed that 57,8% nurses had poor performance, 56,3% doctors had poor performance, 64,4% nurses had average age 26-35 years, 56,2% doctors had average age  36-45 years, 64.4% nurses have poor leadership, </em><em>and </em><em>50.0% of doctors have less good leadership</em><em>.</em><em> There is a relationship between age</em><em> and </em><em>leadership with the performance of health personnel.</em><em></em></p><p><strong><em> </em></strong></p><p>Berdasarkan data kemenkes RI tahun 2015 jumlah tenaga kesehatan terbanyak yaitu perawat sebanyak 147.264 orang (45,65%). Di Indonesia, perawat profesional baru mencapai 2% dari total perawat yang ada. Angka ini jauh lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan Filipina yang sudah mencapai 40% dengan pendidikan strata satu dan dua. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara umur, kepemimpinan dengan kinerja tenaga kesehatan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain penelitian analitik dengan Cross Sectional Study. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua perawat dan dokter. Pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan Total Sampling. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner. Data diolah dengan analisis univariat menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan analisis bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-square. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 57,8% perawat memiliki kinerja kurang baik, 56,3% dokter memiliki kinerja kurang baik, 64,4% perawat memiliki umur rata-rata 26-35 tahun 64,4%, 56,2% dokter memiliki umur rata-rata 36-45 tahun, 64,4% perawat memiliki kepemimpinan kurang baik, 50,0% dokter memiliki kepemimpinan kurang baik. Terdapat hubungan antara umur dan kepemimpinan dengan kinerja tenaga kesehatan.</p>

Background Dysmenorrhoea is the leading cause of absenteeism from school among menstruating adolescents. It is a common health problem among women of reproductive age and it is known to have psychosocial effects on women and their interactions with others during such periods. This study assessed knowledge and effects of dysmenorrhoea among female adolescents in Lagos. Methods This non-experimental descriptive cross-sectional study involved 676 female adolescents attending secondary schools, who were selected using multistage sampling. A self-structured questionnaire (reliability r=0.79) was used for data collection. Data were analysed using the statistical package for social sciences software version 20. Descriptive and inferential statistics were presented in tables, charts and analysed using the Chi-squared test. Significance was set at P=0.05. Results The result showed that 62.8% of the respondents were 15–18 years old. The majority (64.8%) had poor knowledge of dysmenorrhoea, although 92.6% agreed that dysmenorrhoea affects their daily activities and 68.5% had good treatment-seeking methods. There was a significant association between knowledge of dysmenorrhoea and students' age (P<0.001), level of education (P=0.004) and department (P<0.001). There was also a significant association between treatment-seeking method and age (P<0.001), level of education (P=0.010) and department (P<0.001). Conclusions Dysmenorrhoea is a main cause of poor performance in daily activities among female adolescents in Lagos, although many have good treatment-seeking methods. Adopting good and effective treatment methods will go a long way in mitigating the effect of dysmenorrhoea.

Absenteeism is a usual pattern of absence from a duty or responsibility. Usually, absenteeism is considered as an indication of person poor performance. In this study a descriptive cross sectional study design was used. A close ended questionnaire was used as a research tool. Convenient sampling technique was used. Data was analyzed on SPSS 20 version. Nurses are absent from their duties because they suffer from minor ailments e.g. headache and backache? In response of this question, 42.5% responded said that they are strongly agreed, 17.5% were agreed, 8.8% were neutral, 21.3% were disagreed, and 10% were strongly agreed. Nurses do absent from their work because workload is too heavy, 42.5% were agreed, 30% were strongly agreed, 12.5% were neutral,7.5% were disagreed and 7.5% were also strongly disagreed. The lack of appropriate recognition and reward could lead to dissatisfaction and absenteeism among nurses, in response of this question nurses asked that they do absent 31.3% agreed, 41.3% strongly agreed, 15.0% are neutral, 12.5%are disagreed and 0% are strongly disagreed. Staff absenteeism is a growing management concern. It can contribute to sickness absence, staffing instability, work overload and job dissatisfaction that could have a negative impact on patient care. The rate of absenteeism can be reduced by productive management, and loyal leadership. It will not only reduce absenteeism rate but also improve quality of care toward the patients. Background: One of problems in an organization or company is poor performance of employees. For instance, they do not complete tasks or finish their job responsibilities on time. The preliminary data taken from one of companies in Surabaya showed that 184 employees did not come to work without any explanations, and 288 employees worked late.Aim: This study analyzed the relationships between discipline and emotional intelligence towards employee performance at the company.Method: The design of this research was analytical using a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was employees at Production and Maintenance Section of one company in Surabaya comprising of 155 people. Out of 155 employees, 89 respondents were taken as samples using a stratified random sampling technique. Then, the data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation test with a significance level of α 0.05.Results: This study showed that most of the respondents were very highly disciplined (94.4%) and had a highly emotional intelligence (74.2%). Lastly, most of them perform satisfyingly (50.6%). The results of the analysis test with Spearman’s rank correlation yielded p-value of 0.002 <α 0.05. It means there was a correlation between  discipline attitude and employee performance. The p-value 0.001 which was less than α-value of 0.05 showed that there was a correlation between emotional intelligence and employee performance.Conclusion: Discipline and emotional intelligence are prominent to determine employee performance at PT X. In order to improve the discipline and intelligence in the performance of the employees, the company should provide rewards based on employee’s achievements in the workplace. Key words: Emotional intelligence, Employee performance, Discipline.

Objectives: To measure the current status of preventive activities in civil and military hospitals. To compare the quantum ofpreventive and curative activities in the hospitals. To make recommendations for promotion of preventive activities to reduce the curative burdenfrom the hospitals. Study Design: This was a cross-sectional study. Sampling Technique: Universal sampling. All the major military and publicsector hospitals having bed strength more than 400 in Rawalpindi were included in the study. All the preventive and curative work was taken intoaccount. Methodology: A structured questionnaire was developed and data regarding the quantum of work was collected from all the fourmajor Military and civil hospitals having bed strength more than 400 beds through registers and annual reports of the hospital and was analyzedin the form of frequencies, tabulation, cross tabulation, percentages and was displayed in tables and graphs using SPSS (10.5), Microsoft Exceland calculus. Results: Only seven percent work is preventive and ninety three percent is curative. In the preventive activity MH is marginallyhigher than the rest of the hospitals. In all the hospitals among the preventive activities 31% are antenatal visits, 20 % tetanus toxoid injection,19% BCG, Growth monitoring 13%, Measles injection 11% and family planning 6% in all the hospitals. Ante natal activities in the army sectorhospitals are more prominent 39-44% and also in the public sector 17-26%. Next to the antenatal are tetanus toxoids to pregnant ladies whichrange from 16-35% in military and 16-20 % in the public sector hospitals. Growth monitoring is more efficiently carried out in the RawalpindiGeneral Hospital i.e. 17% while in others 7-12%. Family Planning services are delivered very poorly only 9% in RGH and 6% in DHQ, zero % inCMH and 5% in MH. Measles vaccination is carried out efficiently in DHQ 27%, 11% in RGH and 8% in MH and again poorly 3% in CMH. BCG is27% in DHQ, 20% in MH, 17% in RGH and 10% in CMH. Conclusions: The study show that hospitals are showing very poor performance inpreventive aspect and this is the reason that countries like Pakistan are facing economic burden on the national exchequer and this burden willkeep on increasing if no appropriate action is taken.

Rice milling is an informal sector which still lacks attention in terms of occupational health and safety aspects. Health problems experienced by one of them are complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) which have an impact on decreasing work productivity. This study aims to determine the factors that influence complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in rice milling workers in Sepaku Sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara Regency. This research is a quantitative study with cross sectional research design. Sampling using purposive sampling method that amounted to 35 people. Data analysis used the rank-spearman test with a significance level of 0.05 (5%). The results showed that there was a significant relationship between work posture (p = 0,000) and the risk of manual handling material (MMH) (p = 0.005), with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Whereas in the physical workload, there was no association with complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) (p = 0.095). It is suggested for workers to do material manual handling (MMH) with the correct procedure, reduce awkward work postures during work and stretch the muscles before working and adequate rest so as to reduce fatigue and perceived muscle tension.

The transient receptor potential polycystin-2 (TRPP2) is encoded by the Pkd2 gene, and mutation of this gene can cause autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Some patients with ADPKD experience extrarenal manifestations, including radiologic and clinical bronchiectasis. We hypothesized that TRPP2 may regulate airway smooth muscle (ASM) tension. Thus, we used smooth muscle- Pkd2 conditional knockout ( Pkd2SM-CKO) mice to investigate whether TRPP2 regulated ASM tension and whether TRPP2 deficiency contributed to bronchiectasis associated with ADPKD. Compared with wild-type mice, Pkd2SM-CKO mice breathed more shallowly and faster, and their cross-sectional area ratio of bronchi to accompanying pulmonary arteries was higher, suggesting that TRPP2 may regulate ASM tension and contribute to the occurrence of bronchiectasis in ADPKD. In a bioassay examining isolated tracheal ring tension, no significant difference was found for high-potassium-induced depolarization of the ASM between the two groups, indicating that TRPP2 does not regulate depolarization-induced ASM contraction. By contrast, carbachol-induced contraction of the ASM derived from Pkd2SM-CKO mice was significantly reduced compared with that in wild-type mice. In addition, relaxation of the carbachol-precontracted ASM by isoprenaline, a β-adrenergic receptor agonist that acts through the cAMP/adenylyl cyclase pathway, was also significantly attenuated in Pkd2SM-CKO mice compared with that in wild-type mice. Thus, TRPP2 deficiency suppressed both contraction and relaxation of the ASM. These results provide a potential target for regulating ASM tension and for developing therapeutic alternatives for some ADPKD complications of the respiratory system or for independent respiratory disease, especially bronchiectasis.
