In recent years, cinematography and other digital content creators have been eagerly turning to Three-Dimensional (3D) imaging technology. The creators of movies, games, and augmented reality applications are aware of this technology’s advantages, possibilities, and new means of expression. The development of electronic and IT technologies enables the achievement of a better and better quality of the recorded 3D image and many possibilities for its correction and modification in post-production. However, preparing a correct 3D image that does not cause perception problems for the viewer is still a complex and demanding task. Therefore, planning and then ensuring the correct parameters and quality of the recorded 3D video is essential. Despite better post-production techniques, fixing errors in a captured image can be difficult, time consuming, and sometimes impossible. The detection of errors typical for stereo vision related to the depth of the image (e.g., depth budget violation, stereoscopic window violation) during the recording allows for their correction already on the film set, e.g., by different scene layouts and/or different camera configurations. The paper presents a prototype of an independent, non-invasive diagnostic system that supports the film crew in the process of calibrating stereoscopic cameras, as well as analysing the 3D depth while working on a film set. The system acquires full HD video streams from professional cameras using Serial Digital Interface (SDI), synchronises them, and estimates and analyses the disparity map. Objective depth analysis using computer tools while recording scenes allows stereographers to immediately spot errors in the 3D image, primarily related to the violation of the viewing comfort zone. The paper also describes an efficient method of analysing a 3D video using Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The main steps of the proposed solution are uncalibrated rectification and disparity map estimation. The algorithms selected and implemented for the needs of this system do not require knowledge of intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. Thus, they can be used in non-cooperative environments, such as a film set, where the camera configuration often changes. Both of them are implemented with the use of a GPU to improve the data processing efficiency. The paper presents the evaluation results of the algorithms’ accuracy, as well as the comparison of the performance of two implementations—with and without the GPU acceleration. The application of the described GPU-based method makes the system efficient and easy to use. The system can process a video stream with full HD resolution at a speed of several frames per second.

This paper addresses the fundamental role that cultural heritage can play in local development processes to guarantee community wellbeing, quality of life, and quality of society. The enhancement of cultural heritage’s tangible and intangible values may result in sustainable and resilient territory, but a number of issues emerge when dealing with the reuse of specific inherited assets, such as former military barracks. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of these assets, especially those released from the military after the end of the Cold War. We thus explore the Italian case through the comparison of before-1900 and 1900-to-1950 former military barracks. The objectives are the following. First, to discover how these two types of military sites are approached (or no) as proper heritage. Second, to understand how the reuse management is carrying out and how it deals with conservative and profit-driven approaches towards the achievement of cultural, economic, environmental, and social sustainability. Third, to compare the Italian case with similar international good practices to discover common/different trends and innovative solutions to be applied in Italy.

Background Arteriovenous fistulas and grafts are the methods of choice for vascular access in renal failure patients in need of hemodialysis. Their major complication, however, is stenosis, which might lead to thrombosis. Purpose To demonstrate the usefulness of 16-MDCTA with 3D image reconstructions, in long-term hemodialysis patients with dysfunctional arteriovenous fistulas and grafts (AVF and AVG). Material and Methods During a 17-month period, 31 patients with dysfunctional AVF and AVG (24 AVF and seven AVG) were examined with MDCTA with 3D image postprocessing. Parameters such as comprehension of the anatomy, quality of contrast enhancement, and pathological vascular changes were measured. DSA was then performed in 24 patients. Results MDCTA illustrated the anatomy of the AVF/AVG and the entire vascular tree to the heart, in a detailed and comprehensive manner in 93.5% of the evaluated segments, and depicted pathology of AVF/ AVG or pathology of the associated vasculature. MDCTA demonstrated a total of 38 significant stenoses in 25 patients. DSA verified 37 stenoses in 24 patients and demonstrated two additional stenoses. MDCTA had thus a sensitivity of 95%. All 24 patients were treated with percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) with good technical results. Conclusion MDCTA with 3D reconstructions of dysfunctioning AVFs and AVGs in hemodialysis patients is an accurate and reliable diagnostic method helping customize future intervention.

Abstract In 2001, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China issued guidelines to promote the quality of higher education and to advocate the expansion of the use of English (Ministry of Education (MoE). 2001. Guanyu jiaqiang gaodeng xuexiao benke jiaoxue gongzuo tigao jiaoxue zhiliang de ruogan yijian [Guidelines for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Teaching at Higher Education Institutions]. This paper reviews empirical studies in English and Chinese on EMI in Chinese higher education published from 2001 to 2019, during the last two decades since these guidelines were released. The review contributes to the field of EMI by documenting, analysing and synthesising empirical evidence and by situating EMI studies in China in the global trends of EMI research. The review aims to give an overview of studies targeted at both global and local audiences, therefore, publications in both English and Chinese were included. To select the Chinese articles the core journals indexed by CNKI were searched, and for the English articles, we used ERIC, IBSS, SCOPUS and WOS databases. After excluding theoretically oriented studies, literature reviews and commentaries, 42 articles remained. The in-depth analysis revealed that the main topics of these studies included the student perception, implementation and educational practices, and the role of language. We conclude that in general there are insufficient empirical studies, especially about EMI teachers’ perspectives to inform policies and practices at the micro, meso and macro level. Based on the findings, directions for further research are identified and recommendations for methodological approaches for future studies are also made.

Abstract: Seeds harvested on the ears have high moisture content. On that account, this study aimed at evaluating the loss of physiological quality of corn seeds harvested on the ears, as a function of different drying-delay times. Hybrid corn ears were harvested at 31% moisture and then had their drying postponed for 0, 12, 24 and 36 h, while subjected to temperatures of 30, 40, 50 and 60 °C. The physiological quality was evaluated after 0, 4, 8 and 12 months of storage. A completely randomized design was employed, in a 4 x 4 x 4 factorial scheme, with four replications. In addition, a study was performed in a seed-processing unit, reporting the average waiting time before drying and the temperatures of all loads of a corn hybrid received at the facility. The physiological quality was not affected by temperatures below 40 °C, considering 36 h of waiting before drying. At 50 ºC during the drying delay, the germination was impaired 36 h afterward, and the vigor was compromised after 24 h, with the damage effects intensifying as the storage advanced. At the temperature of 60 ºC, the deficits in germination and vigor occurred within the first hours of drying delay.

Climacterium syndrome is a collection of symptoms experienced by a woman who started at the end of the reproductives until the five years after menopause. This time is a difficult time that women must be passed on with different complaints from each individual. The complaint can be categorized into four complaints such as physical complaints, vasomotor complaints, psychosocial complaints, urogenital complaints. Various complaints experienced can decrease the quality of life of women. Complaints experienced by menopause women can be assessed by Menopausal Rating Scale (MRS).This research is a descriptive type of research with a crosssectional design that aims to determine the description of menopausal complaints experienced by menopausal women in two locations in Pematangsiantar City. The results of the study illustrate that women who are examined in two research locations experience menopausal complaints in the weight category, especially in psychological and urogenital complaints. There is a health care effort in women before the menopause arrives. It is very important to prepare women in receiving the menopause and face the various complaints that will be experienced.

Soft rice is a kind of high-quality rice between glutinous rice and sticky rice. It has low amylose content, crystal clear grains, sweet taste, soft glutinous, and is suitable for cooking and porridge. Chalkiness in soft rice is a white opaque part formed by loose endosperm. It is an important character that affects the appearance quality, processing, and cooking quality of rice, and also an important limiting factor that restricts the standard rate of high-quality rice in China. The combination of scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS) can be used for in-depth analysis of rice, visualization, and quantitative analysis of element distribution in rice. The results showed that there were many kinds of mineral elements in soft rice seeds, among which C and O were the most abundant, followed by N and P, and Mg, Al, P, S, K, Ca, Mn, and Zn were less. The contents of C, N, P, and S in the non-chalky area were significantly higher than those in the chalky area. Especially N and S were the best indicators of protein, and the contents in the chalky area were higher than those in the non-chalky area. It means that the protein content in the chalky part of soft rice seed is less than that in the non-chalky part, which affects the nutritional quality of soft rice. Therefore, the results of this study laid a solid foundation for the in-depth analysis of the distribution of mineral elements and protein in soft rice and their effects on the quality of soft rice, which also provided important information for the cultivation of new high-quality rice varieties in the future.

Urban quality of life (QOL) is a complex and multidimensional concept. A wide range of urban QOL assessment tools has been developed worldwide to measure and monitor the quality of urban life taking into account the particular conditions of cities/regions and the needs of their residents. This study aims to develop an urban QOL assessment tool appropriate for the context of Saudi Arabia (SA). For this purpose, this study developed and used a structured approach that consists of an in-depth analysis of 21 urban QOL assessment tools in use worldwide, combined with focus group analysis and feedback from a panel of experts. The results revealed that there is a lack of consensus among the existing tools regarding the usage of QOL indicators and domains, and that the majority of the tools demonstrate a lack of proper coverage of QOL subdomains. The results also show wide variations in the number of indicators used and that most of the examined tools are using objective measurable indicators. This study has identified 67 indicators distributed across 13 domains that constitute the core criteria of the proposed QOL assessment tool. The selected indicators and domains cover all the attributes of urban QOL and are evaluated by experts as important criteria to assess/measure QOL. Moreover, the results demonstrate the advantage of the developed framework and comprehensive list of criteria (CLC) as a structured and efficient approach to design better QOL assessment tools.

<p>Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) have been playing an indispensable role in providing positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) services to global users. Over the past few years, GNSS have been rapidly developed with abundant networks, modern constellations, and multi-frequency observations. To take full advantages of multi-constellation and multi-frequency GNSS, several new mathematic models have been developed such as multi-frequency ambiguity resolution (AR) and the uncombined data processing with raw observations. In addition, new GNSS products including the uncalibrated phase delay (UPD), the observable signal bias (OSB), and the integer recovery clock (IRC) have been generated and provided by analysis centers to support advanced GNSS applications.</p><p>       However, the increasing number of GNSS observations raises a great challenge to the fast generation of multi-constellation and multi-frequency products. In this study, we proposed an efficient solution to realize the fast updating of multi-GNSS real-time products by making full use of the advanced computing techniques. Firstly, instead of the traditional vector operations, the “level-3 operations” (matrix by matrix) of Basic Liner Algebra Subprograms (BLAS) is used as much as possible in the Least Square (LSQ) processing, which can improve the efficiency due to the central processing unit (CPU) optimization and faster memory data transmission. Furthermore, most steps of multi-GNSS data processing are transformed from serial mode to parallel mode to take advantage of the multi-core CPU architecture and graphics processing unit (GPU) computing resources. Moreover, we choose the OpenBLAS library for matrix computation as it has good performances in parallel environment.</p><p>       The proposed method is then validated on a 3.30 GHz AMD CPU with 6 cores. The result demonstrates that the proposed method can substantially improve the processing efficiency for multi-GNSS product generation. For the precise orbit determination (POD) solution with 150 ground stations and 128 satellites (GPS/BDS/Galileo/GLONASS/QZSS) in ionosphere-free (IF) mode, the processing time can be shortened from 50 to 10 minutes, which can guarantee the hourly updating of multi-GNSS ultra-rapid orbit products. The processing time of uncombined POD can also be reduced by about 80%. Meanwhile, the multi-GNSS real-time clock products can be easily generated in 5 seconds or even higher sampling rate. In addition, the processing efficiency of UPD and OSB products can also be increased by 4-6 times.</p>

Serious Games (SGs) have been able to shape new opportunities for human training and empowerment, imparting knowledge or skills in an engaging and motivating way to a new generation of learners. Further, they can be used to improve the quality of both individual and collective experience. In particular, SGs can nurture positive emotions promote engagement, as well as enhance social integration and connectedness. An in-depth analysis of each of these aspects will be presented in the chapter, with the support of concrete examples and case-analysis. Eventually, a game design practice will be discussed. Knowledge and awareness of hedonic, eudaimonic and social principles improve user-centered design models can be both fundamental to enhance learning effectiveness and retention and to improve players' well-being, contributing to the development of sustainable communities of practices.

The key task of the tool manufacturing is to create or to choose such a type of tool, which would permit to provide high processing efficiency, the best tool`s workability and the quality of the machined surfaces with minimum expenses and resources. The optimal choice of the constructive tool modifications from a variety of options takes much time required for the preparation of the tool to work. To solve this problem, we have developed software that allows you to create, organize and carry out a comparative analysis of structural instruments in order to identify rational option for the given conditions of production. Ordering and selection of a rational design of the instrument is carried out in accordance with established procedures of modeling and comparative analysis of design solutions. Application software can reduce design time technological process by 80...90%, and get a substantial annual economic effect.
