With the extensive development and application of information technologies in construction engineering and management (CEM), the construction site is experiencing a rapid digital revolution and transformation. Since smart construction site has become the current research trend and one of the most hot topics, thus this study adopted an integrated bibliometric approach and quantitative analysis to explore the global research on smart construction site. As it is indicated in the content, the bibliometric and scientometric method-based literature review was carried out in this study. To be specific, the co-citation analysis in terms of author, document, and journal; the collaboration analysis in terms of authorship, institutions, and country/region; and category analysis, as well as cluster analysis and burst analysis were conducted based on 2206 peer-reviewed academic papers, which were published from January 2000 to February 2021. It is found that there has been an explosion of relevant publications especially in the past 10 years along with the changing of keywords from flexibility approach to information technologies, 3D reconstruction, IoT technologies, virtual reality, and others. Moreover, the results indicated that the collaborations and cooperation among different institutions, countries, and authors are not close enough, and the most significant research and development in smart construction occurred primarily in the USA, China, and England. Additionally, the smart construction site’s relevant research in terms of publication of quantity was doubled every five years. In addition, the smart construction site relevant research has gradually changed from the traditional project performance associated indicators to smart simulation applications and scenes. Lastly, implementation and management-related concerns about smart construction sites are discussed with seven topics. This study provides researchers and practitioners not merely with an in-depth understanding of the characters and also the trend of smart construction site research in the construction engineering and management field.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to establish the current situation, intellectual base, hotspots, development trends, and frontiers of oral health literacy (OHL) from the literature. Methods We analyzed 1505 bibliographic records dated between January 1990 and December 2020 retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and the Scopus database. We used CiteSpace for word frequency analysis, co-occurrence analysis, co-citation analysis, clustering analysis, and burst analysis. Results The total number of publications increased year-on-year, with the majority of publications coming from the USA. Most studies focused on the relationship between (oral) health literacy and oral health, and the development of OHL instruments. The top 10 keywords by frequency were “health literacy”, “oral health”, “attitude to health”, “dental caries”, “adult”, “children”, “dental care”, “knowledge”, “questionnaire”, and “adolescent”. The keyword with the highest burst intensity was “dental health education”. Conclusions OHL research is a thriving field. The field is focused on the development of an OHL instrument and health promotion practice. Strategic cooperation among countries, institutions, authors, hospitals, and communities will be important to encourage further OHL research and address oral health problems.

Problem and goal. Within the framework of the study, based on the data of the Workplace Learning Report study, specialists from the USA, Canada and other countries, the transformation of corporate training over the past decades was analyzed, the main problems and challenges of companies/enterprises in the process of additional professional training of employees and ways to solve them were identified. The main problems of corporate training at the present time, as in the past, include budget deficit and search for free intervals in the schedules of employees for educational sessions. And the solution was the growth of online training, the use of online platforms, which made it easier to find time in the sche- dule of employees for training, create opportunities for flexible editing of educational content, and for managers it was easier to evaluate additional professional training thanks to the control tools built into online platforms. Methodology. However, it turned out that not all age categories of employees are ready to expand online training: older age workers prefer traditional or mixed training, as opposed to young people. Results. The study found that the degree of digitalization correlates with the size of the company: the comparative effectiveness of digital tools for additional professional education increases with the scale of the system in which they are applied: a deployed digital educational platform requires very few resources to expand to new branches and employees, rather than classical educational formats that require personal participation of teaching staff. Conclusion. The main trends in the development of corporate training in the coming years are described.


Construction sites records high accident and incident rate due to lack of safety measures. Safety assessment rating is significant for every construction site to know safety status of the particular site. In this research TR safety observation method is used to assess the site performance. As unsafe condition is the key factor in every construction site, this research considers the possible unsafe conditions to assess the site performance. A questionnaire survey is done with the workers to know the existing safe conditions. Results showed that the safety performance of the site is 39%. Then every unsafe condition is ranked with respect to severity rating for detailed analysis. Furthermore bowtie analysis is used to identify the causes and consequences of the unsafe conditions. Through this analysis the owner can reduce the risk of every event and improve the site performance.

The study and generalization of foreign experience is a value for Ukraine, which has set itself the task of integration into the world community and can be an important source of thorough thinking and creative use of positive ideas in domestic theory and practice of physical education and sports. This article analyzes the content and features of the organization of intramural (in-school) sports in the United States. The study found that intramural sports in the United States are an integral part of the overall education program, which provides an opportunity to involve children with different levels of development of motor skills and qualities in motor activities outside of physical education lessons. Participation in intramural sports programs is voluntary. It is determined that the intramural sports program in the United States is characterized by certain features that must be taken into account for its successful implementation. It was found that, first of all, American specialists determine the direction (nature) of the sports program and possible types of physical activity, taking into account the wishes of students; it is important to properly plan and compile a quality schedule for classes in compliance with the capacity of existing sports facilities; it is obligatory to observe the rules of admission of students to classes and competitions, as well as their annual medical examination; implementation of the sports program is carried out with the use of modern information technologies; the accounting and evaluation of the program is constantly carried out; proper administration and quality arbitration are of great importance; special attention is paid to the competition procedure itself and the determination of winners; a special place is given to the financing of programs and their support and promotion.

The purpose of the present study is to grasp the situation of construction sites easily by distinguishing the movements of construction workers at construction sites from the accelerometer data attached to their waists. For the construction manager to accurately perceive the active or inactive state of his workers, their movements were classified into three distinct categories: walking, standing, and sitting. We tracked and observed two rebar workers for 5 days at a large building construction site. Their movements were classified by two-axis plots of (1) the difference between the maximum and minimum absolute values and (2) the value of acceleration at each second, and visualized by a heatmap among others for this trial. The results showed that despite the difficulty in distinguishing rebar work without a total body movement while sitting, the accuracy of discrimination was 60–80% in walking and sitting. From this analysis, we were able to identify repetitive tasks and the differences between morning and afternoon tasks. Furthermore, by applying simple visualization, we could concisely represent changes in work intensity over a relatively long period.

<p>In June 2013, three consortia were awarded the three construction packages that constitute the whole Riyadh Metro Project in Saudi Arabia for a total of 6 lines and 180 kilometres.</p><p>International Bridge Technologies was in charge, as a subconsultant of Idom, of the complete structural scope of services for the 25.6 km of elevated viaduct that Riyadh Metro Package 2 comprises (Line 3, around 41.6 km, out of which 25.6 km are elevated). This scope consisted of the full range of services from conceptual tender design to final detailed design, including shop drawings production, construction engineering and construction site support.</p><p>The Line 3 elevated viaduct consists of a three-cells precast segmental box-girder with typical simply-supported spans of 37 m and special continuous spans of 50 m. Six long span structures with spans varying from 60 m to 95 m were required for the special crossings over existing interchanges. Typical and continuous spans are erected span-by-span with an overhead truss while long spans are erected in balanced cantilever with cranes on the ground or lifting frames on the deck.</p><p>The present paper is centred on the design of the elevated viaduct and presents the different structures with key features and how they were constructed to permit large scale standardisation and speed of construction. Some key design aspects are developed, in particular the design approach for the 3-cells box-girder as the most effective solution to satisfy the imposed aesthetic criteria. This paper also exposes the design approach adopted to produce a “design-for-demand” by relying as much as practically possible on a realistic modelling of the alignment and by limiting parametric design. This allowed for an optimisation of material quantities.</p>

Purpose: The overall aim of this research is to identify and catalogue the numerous managerial strategies for effective management of health and safety on a confined, urban, construction site. Design/Methodology/Approach: This is achieved by utilising individual interviews, focus groups discussion on selected case studies of confined construction sites, coupled with a questionnaire survey. Findings: The top five key strategies include (1) Employ safe system of work plans to mitigate personnel health and safety issues; (2) Inform personnel, before starting on-site, of the potential issues using site inductions; (3) Effective communication among site personnel; (4) Draft and implement an effective design site layout prior to starting on-site; and (5) Use of banksman (traffic co-ordinator) to segregate personnel from vehicular traffic. Practical Implication: The construction sector is one of the leading industries in accident causation and with the continued development and regeneration of our urban centres, confined site construction is quickly becoming the norm - an environment which only fuels accident creation within the construction sector. Originality/Value: This research aids on-site management that requires direction and assistance in the identification and implementation of key strategies for the management of health and safety, particularly in confined construction site environments.

The digital revolution has changed the way we implement and use connected devices and systems by offering Internet communication capabilities to simple objects around us. The growth of information technologies, together with the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), exponentially amplified the connectivity capabilities of devices. Up to this moment, the Long Range (LoRa) communication technology has been regarded as the perfect candidate, created to solve the issues of the IoT concept, such as scalability and the possibility of integrating a large number of sensors. The goal of this paper is to present an analysis of the communication collisions that occur through the evaluation of performance level in various scenarios for the LoRa technology. The first part addresses an empirical evaluation and the second part presents the development and validation of a LoRa traffic generator. The findings suggest that even if the packet payload increases, the communication resistance to interferences is not drastically affected, as one may expect. These results are analyzed by using a novel Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology LoRa traffic generator, that ensures a high-performance level in terms of generating a large LoRa traffic volume. Despite the use of orthogonal variable spreading factor technique, within the same communication channel, the collisions between LoRa packets may dramatically decrease the communication performance level.

This paper focuses on sustainable transportation of prefab products from factories to construction sites by ship. Since the transportation cost for all the prefab products of a construction site is mainly dependent on the number of cargo holds used on ships, a loading plan for prefab products that minimizes the number of holds required is highly desirable. This paper is therefore devoted to the development of an optimal loading plan that decides which prefab products are loaded into each cargo hold and how to pack these prefab products into the holds so that as few holds as possible are used. We formulate the problem as a large-scale integer optimization model whose objective function is to minimize the total number of cargo holds used and whose constraints represent the cargo hold capacity limits. We develop a heuristic to solve the problem and obtain a high-quality solution. We have tested the model and algorithm on a case study that includes 20 prefab products. We find that different cargo holds carry prefab products that have quite different densities. Moreover, the orientations of many prefab products are different from their default orientations. The results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model and algorithm.
