Sea farming methods is a sea fisheries development concept in shallow waters such as the merger between aquaculture and capture fisheries by utilizing leading commodity in potential cultivation area. Sea farming is a system of utilization of marine ecosystem-based marine culture with the ultimate goal to improve the stock of fish (fish resources enhancement) to the sustainability of fisheries and other marine-based activities such as ecotourism. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impacts that arise from the CPI reclamation, viewed from the perspective of environmental politics. From an environmental perspective, the reclamation policy does not have a good impact according to its essence and purpose, it actually increases disaster risk for Makassar City, especially coastal areas, both land and sea. This research was conducted qualitatively in a case study of the CPI reclamation, by conducting in-depth interviews and field observations as well as extracting the necessary data from related sources. The CPI reclamation has attracted the attention of a number of NGOs that have formed an alliance to demand that the reclamation be stopped because it has damaged the surrounding environment and has caused economic and material harm to coastal communities. Fishermen and shellfish seekers totaling 43 heads of families who inhabit a land area of approximately 10 hectares, were evicted by the Southern Provincial Government for the construction of CPI reclamation. The sustainability of the CPI reclamation project is still reaping the pros and cons until now, especially the negative impacts that are generated are not only socio-economic problems but also have an impact on the environment. The reclamation policy actually has a negative impact on the environment, contrary to the essence of the policy itself which should bring goodness to life.

Abstract This study was conducted to determine the level of use of marine resources in the waters of Bunaken by residents of the surrounding villages. The occupation of the village has been exploiting the natural resources of the sea as a source of livelihood for their survival. This study uses a case study to illustrate (collect, describe, express, to explain in detail the activities of the community in exploiting marine resources). Bunaken villagers numbering 2598 inhabitants come from 531 households. The number of fishermen 695 people (70.7%). Fishing gear they use are different types of nets or soma pajeko (small puse seine), paka-paka, landra (gill-net) and rarape (beach seine). The impact of the last global economic crisis (2008) on the European economy put a strain on higher education (HE), yet it also pushed the sector towards intensive reforms and improvements. This paper focuses on the “Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in the Republic of Bulgaria 2014-2020”. With a case study methodology, we explore the strategic endeavours of the Bulgarian government to comply with the European directions and to secure sustainable growth for the HE sector. Our research question is ‘How capable is the Bulgarian HE Strategy to overcome the economic and systemic restraints of Bulgarian higher education?’. Because the development of strategies for HE within the EU is highly contextual, a single qualitative case study was chosen as the research approach. HE institutions are not ivory towers, but subjects to a variety of external and internal forces. Within the EU, this is obviated by the fact that Universities obtain their funds from institutions such as governments, students and their families, donors, as well as EU-level programmes. Therefore, to explore how these pressures interact to affect strategic action on national level, the case method is well suited as it enabled us to study the phenomena thoroughly and deeply. The paper suggests the actions proposed within the Strategy have the potential to overcome the delay, the regional isolation and the negative impact of the economic crisis on the country. Nevertheless, the key elements on which the success or failure of this Strategy hinges are the control mechanisms and the approach to implementation. Shortcomings in these two aspects of strategic actions in HE seem to mark the difference between gaining long-term benefits and merely saving face in front of international institutions.

A landscape or site, which has been inhabited for long, consists of layers of history. This history is sometimes reserved in forms of small physical remnants, monuments, memorials, names or collective memories of destruction and reconstruction. In this sense, a site/landscape can be presumed as what Derrida refers to as a “palimpsest”. A palimpsest whose character is identified in a duality between the existing layers of meaning accumulated through time, and the act of erasing them to make room for the new to appear. In this study, the spatial collective memory of the Chahar Bagh site which is located in the historical centre of Shiraz will be investigated as a contextualized palimpsest, with various projects adjacent one another; each conceptualized and constructed within various historical settings; while the site as a heritage is still an active part of the city’s cultural life. Through analysing the different layers of meaning corresponding to these adjacent projects, a number of principals for reading the complexities of similar historical sites can be driven.

Our study investigated racial profiling of Black youth in Toronto and linked this racial profiling to urban disadvantage theory, which highlights neighbourhood-level processes. Our findings provide empirical evidence suggesting that because of racial profiling, Black youth are subject to disproportionately more stops for gun-, traffic-, drug-, and suspicious activity-related reasons. Moreover, they show that drug-related stop-and-searches of Black youth occur most excessively in neighbourhoods where more White people reside and are less disadvantaged, demonstrating that race-and-place profiling of Black youth exists in police stop-and-search practices. This study shows that the theoretical literature in sociology on neighbourhood characteristics can contribute to an understanding of the relationship between race and police stops in the context of neighbourhood. It also discusses the negative impact of racial profiling on Black youth.
