An experiment was conducted to examine the effectiveness of Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb and Curcuma Zedoaria rox flours added in ration on performances of broilers. Fifty-four CP-707® strain broilers were used in the experiment at animal house of Animal Husbandry Faculty, Sam Ratulangi University, Manado and they were placed into cages (60cm x 45cm x 45cm), three birds per cage. Randomized completely design were used in this experiment, with three treatments and six replications. The three treatments were R0 (ration without Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb and Curcuma Zedoaria rox flours), R1 (Ration with 2% of Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb flour) and R2 (Ration with 2% of Curcuma Zedoaria rox flour). It was found that, there were no significant different (P>0.05) between treatments on feed consumption, body growth and feed conversion ratio of broilers. Feed consumptions were 111,69gram/bird/day (R0), 118,98gram/bird/day (R1), and 124,34gram/bird/day (R2); Body growths were 53,09gram/bird/day (R0), 54,84gram/birdr/day (R1), 57,59gram/bird/day (R2); Feed conversion ratios were 2,20gram/bird/day (R0), 2,18gram/bird/day (R1), and 2,16gram/bird/day (R2) respectively. It was concluded that, the performances of broilers given ration with addition of 2% of Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb and Curcuma Zedoaria rox flours were same as the performances of broiler given ration without Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb and Curcuma Zedoaria rox flours Curcuma Xanthorrhiza roxb and Curcuma Zedoaria rox flours. UTILIZATION EFFECT OF MOLASSES AS ENERGY SOURCE IN THE DIETS ON GROWING RABBIT PERFORMANCE. Molasses had been used previously in animal feeds. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of molasses utilization in the diets on growing rabbits. The study was conducted during five weeks at Department of Animal and Feed Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Sam Ratulangi, Manado. Twenty eight-weeks weaned female rabbits with an initial body weight of 600 -700 gr were used in this trial. Animals were allocated in an individual cage. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications was used for analysis of variance. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet + 0% molasses; R1 = 98% basal diet + 2% molasses; R2 = 96% basal diet + 4% molasses; and R3 = 94% basal diet + 6% molasses. Variables measured were daily feed consumption, water consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion. Research results showed that average daily feed consumption in the present study ranged from 58.1 to 60.4 g; daily water consumption from 127.2 to 163.8 liters; daily gain from 20.1 to 20.9 g; and feed conversion ratio of about 3.57 to 3.80. Statistical analysis revealed that utilization of molasses replacing part of basal diets up to 6% gave no significant differences on daily feed consumption, water consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio.  It can be concluded that molasses as an energy source can be utilized up to 6% in growing rabbit diets without any negative effects. The objective of this experiment  was to determine the effects of different percentage of ration between day and night to male chicken medium type performance;  the best level of percentage of ration that given between the day and night in chicken coop. A total of one hundred and forty four day-old male chicks medium type were divided into 3 treatments and 6 replications, each treatment consist of 8 male chickens. The treatments were ration that given 30% during the day and 70% the night; ration that given 50% during the day and 50% the night; ration that given 70% during the day and 30% the night. This research was conducted from August through October 2018 in Integrated Laboratory Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung.  Data were subjected to analysis variance. Significant was considered at 5% level of probability. The results showed, percentage ration between day and night signicant influence feed consumption (P <0.05), but not significant effect to body weight and feed conversion ratio. The percentage of ration given 30% during  day and 70%  night is the best treatment influence feed conversion ratio (2,41) with feed consumption 1.738.03 g/bird  and body weight 718,58 g/bird. Keywords : Male chickens, Ration percentage, Chicken coop

Abstrak: Penelitian initelah dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala yang berlokasi di Darussalam Banda Aceh sejaktanggal 4 Desember 2015 sampai dengan tanggal 9 Januari 2016. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh subtitusi Amtabisterhadap performa ayam broiler yang meliputi pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi pakan dan feed conversion ratio. Parameter yang diamati meliputi konsumsi ransum, pertambahan berat badan, konversi ransum dan efisiensi ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa substitusi Amtabis dalam ransum komersial pada level yang berbeda selama perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P0,05) terhadap pertambahan berat badan, namun tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, rasio konversi pakan dan efisiensi pakan.Terjadinya penurunan performa broiler dengan pemberian Amtabis kemungkinan disebabkan karena ketidak seimbangan kandungan nutrisi dalam ransum akibat penambahan Amtabis dalam pakan komersil. The Effect of Substitution Fermented Amtabis with Aspergillus Niger on Broiler Performance Abstrack: Study on the effect of substitution fermented Amtabis with Aspergillus niger on broiler performance was conducted at Experimental Farm Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Department, Syiah Kuala University Darussalam Banda Aceh from 4 December 2015 to 9 January 2016. The purposes of this study was to evaluate substitution of fermented Amtabis with commercial broiler on broiler performance including body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio. Parameters which were observed in this study were body weight, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio. The results on the study indicate that substitution of Amtabis in commercial feed significantly effected (P0,05)on body weight, but had no significantly effect (P0,05)on feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and feed efficiency.Decreasing of performance broiler by substitution Amtabis in the commercial feed was probably caused by imbalance of nutritive feed formulation after Amtabis substitution

KUB chicken is a new breed of local chickens as the result of selection by the Indonesian Research Institute for Animal Production, Ciawi-Bogor. KUB chicken has been developed in South Kalimantan since early December 2013 at farmers assisted by livestock services in South Kalimantan and animal house belongs to the Assesment Institute of Agricultural Technology (AIAT) South Kalimantan. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the potency, production performance, and development opportunities of KUB chicken in South Kalimantan. KUB chickens have several advantages i.e. high egg production (160-180 eggs/hen/year), low brooding (±10%), faster growth, more savory meat taste, and adaptable to environment. Problems encountered in the development of KUB chicken in South Kalimantan are low hatchbility, expensive feed prices, and susceptible to diseases such as Newcastle Disease (ND) and Avian Influenza. Performance of KUB chicken at small farmers in South Kalimantan include egg production 65-67%, egg weight of 36.12-38.12 g/egg, feed consumption 85-105 g/head, feed conversion ratio 3.8-3.9, eggs fertility ranged between 90.21-92.61%, hatchability of eggs is 79.67-81.80% and DOC weight ranged from 34.50-36.86 g/head. Efforts to prevent diseases are the use of herb medicine, ND vaccination, and biosecurity. Appropriate feed technology, disease prevention and strengthen the marketing network are strategies that should be applied to develop KUB chicken in South Kalimantan. This will lead new job and increase farmers’ income.

Laying hens are adult hens that are specially kept for their eggs. This chicken has a high egg production capability. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the level of productivity of ISA Brown strain laying hens aged 24-28 weeks, by calculating and comparing ration consumption standards, Hen Day Production (HDP), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and mortality in laying hens CV Bisco Farm Talang Jawa Village, Merbau Mataram District, South Lampung Regency. The method used in the preparation is directly involved in conducting maintenance, discussion, study literature, and direct interviews. Feed consumption is 101 grams/bird /day, daily egg production or Hen Day Production (HDP) averaged 92.77%, the average FCR value was 1.89, and the mortality rate was 0.07%. Key words : layer, egg productivity, performance

One of the comestibles that have high nutritional value and are easy to obtain is chicken. The higher demand for chicken must be accompanied by an increase in production. It is important for the breeder of broiler chicken to choose high quality Day Old Chick (DOC) from the broiler breeder which also has high quality and productivity. The type of broiler breeder that is grown in PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi is Ross 308. Observations were made when the chickens were 18th to 21st weeks old in 6 henneries totaling about 10,000 chickens. The performance of broiler breeder observed were feed consumption, bodyweight gain, feed conversion ratio, and uniformity. Feed consumption of broiler breeder at 18th to 21st week was 659.4 g/chicken, 700,583 g/chicken, 742,116 g/chicken, 767.2 g/chicken. Bodyweight gain at 18th to 21st week was 143.51 g/chicken, 193.3 g/chicken, 63.43 g/chicken, 167.96 g/chicken. Feed conversion ratio at 18th to 21st week was 4.5, 3.6, 11.6, 4.5. The uniformity at 18th to 21st week was 77%, 81%, 81%, 81%. In conclusion, the value of feed consumption for broiler breeder at PT. Karya Indah Pertiwi was increasing every week. Bodyweight gain at 20th week was lower than 18th, 19th, and 21st week. The value of feed conversion ratio at 20th week was higher than at 18th, 19th, and 21st week. Chicken uniformity value at 18th week was not good it was at 77%, while at the 19th, 20th, and 21st week it was quite good at 81%.

Increasing breast muscle percentage by selection for breast layer thickness (muscle and skin) of living ducks by needle probe improves carcass quality as could be demonstrated by experiments and by applied breeding programs. In addition direct selection for individual feed conversion ratio can increase the efficiency of duck meat production. Divergent selection for feed conversion ratio from the age of 4 - 7 weeks over 11 generations has differentiated the feed efficiency by about 25 %. Causes for the reduction in feed conversion ratio are lower fat content of carcass, lower locomotor activity, higher enzymatic activity (alkaline phosphatase and creatinkinase in blood plasma) and better feed protein utilization. Because of lower feed consumption in the line selected for lower feed conversion ratio the emission of nitrogen and phosphorus via manure was reduced by about 39 and 26 %, respectively. That means, selection for better feed efficiency is not only an important economical but also an important ecological factor.

THE EFFECT OF PARTLY SUBSTITUTION OF DIET WITH WHITE CHINESE CABBAGE (Brasscia pekinensia L) WASTE PRODUCT ON BIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKEN The present study was conducted to characterize the effect of white Chinese cabbage (Brasscia pekinensia L) waste product as an alternative feed source for broiler chicken.  The experiment was conducted at Faculty of Animal Husbandry’s experimetal station for 21 days using 60 MB-202 broiler chicken. The experiment was started at 21 days of age and terminated at 42 days of age. Birds were allocated to 20 experimental battery cage, 3 birds in each cage. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications was employed to analyze experimental data. Treatment diets were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet and 0% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R1 = 95% basal diet and 5% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R2 = 90% basal diet and 10% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R3 = 85% basal diet and 15% white Chinese cabbage waste product; and R4 = 80% basal diet and 20% white Chinese cabbage waste product. Parameters measured were: 1) daily feed consumption; 2) daily gain; and 3) feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results of the study during which feed consumption (138,09-141,57g), weight gain (64,95-68,53g), and feed conversion (2,07-2,12). The results showed that partly substitution (up to 20%) of basal diet with white Chinese cabbage waste product gave non significant (P > 0.05) effect on feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of broiler chicken. It can be concluded that white Chinese cabbage waste product can be used up to 20% feed gives good results on broiler performance. Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effect of zinc supplementation in various diets on the performance and health status of IPB-D2 chickens. Subsequently, about 180 one-week-old IPB-D2 chickens were used in the study and were fed the treatment diets for 12 weeks. Also, this study employed a completely randomised factorial design with six treatments and three replications of ten birds each. These treatment diets included A1, which contained nutrients based on SNI (2013) without Zn supplementation, A2 which is a combination of A1 and 60 ppm of Zinc, B1 which contained nutrients 5% higher than SNI without Zn supplementation, B2 which is a combination of B1 and 60 ppm Zinc, C1 which contains nutrients 10% higher than SNI without Zn supplementation, and lastly, C2 which is a combination of C1 and 60 ppm of Zinc. Furthermore, the data were analysed using ANOVA, and the parameters observed were the body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, blood profile and the villi surface area of the jejunum. Consequently, the results showed that C2 significantly (P<0.05) increased the body weight and body weight gain when fed to the finisher and grower chickens, respectively. More so, when the finisher chickens were fed the 10% SNI diet, there was an increased body weight gain and also a significantly (P<0.05) decreased feed conversion ratio. Furthermore, the addition of 60 ppm zinc increased haemoglobin significantly (P<0.05), whereas C2 decreased leukocytes significantly (P<0.05) in chicken blood. However, the treatments had no effect on feed consumption in the villi surface area of the jejunum. Therefore, the study concluded that supplementing the IPB-D2 chickens with 60 ppm zinc in a 10% SNI diet resulted in the best performance and health status.

<p class="Style2"><em>The aim of this research to determine the effect of supplementation of tofu. </em><em>tempe, and soy sauce waste in ration on male local sheep performance. This </em><em>research was carried out during three month, take place on July until October </em><em>200E in Minifarm Dept. of Animal Science, Agriculture Faculty of Sebelas Maret </em><em>University, located in Jatikuwung. Gondangrejo, Karanganyar. It used </em><em>12 </em><em>male </em><em>local sheeps with average body weight of </em><em>15.86 ±0.93 </em><em>kg, divided into four treatments and three replications, each replication consist of one sheep.</em><em> </em><em>The ration consisted of king grass only as basal diet, </em><em>as many as four percent </em><em>base on body weight. The treatment given is in the form of feed supplement, that </em><em>namely without supplement </em><em>(RO), </em><em>250 </em><em>gram tofu waste (R1), </em><em>250 </em><em>gram tempe </em><em>waste </em><em>(R2), and </em><em>250 </em><em>gram soy sauce waste </em><em>(R3). </em><em>The data variables collected </em><em>were </em><em>feed consumption, dry and organic matter digestibility, crude protein </em><em>consumption, energy consumption, average daily gain, and feed conversion ratio. </em><em>All of data except average daily gain was analyzed by completely randomized </em><em>design one way classification. While average daily gain was analyzed by </em><em>covariance analyze. The result were significant followed by Duncan new multiple </em><em>range test.</em><em> </em><em>The result showed that average of </em><em>R0, RI, </em><em>R2 and </em><em>R3 </em><em>for feed consumption </em><em>430.52; 720.44; 704.44; 549.08 </em><em>gram/day, dry matter digestibility (%) </em><em>61,07; 72,46; 69,68: 63,60, organic matter digestibility (%) </em><em>64,41: 74,94; 72.41; 64,7 1, </em><em>crude protein consumption 47.66; 106.77; 85.83; 73.70 gram/day, energy consumption </em><em>281.82; 482.65; 432.67; 330.83 </em><em>gram/day, average daily gain </em><em>50.00.</em><em><sup>­</sup></em><em>1X00: 116.19; 38.10 </em><em>gram/day and feed conversion ratio </em><em>8.74; 5.61; 6.06; 15.2. </em><em>The result of variance analyze showed that feed supplementation have highly </em><em>significant effect (P&lt;0.01) on all of the data variable colected.
