The study hypothesizes the ability of a relative unit to participate in the consciousness of a native speaker of a certain meaning. The new cultural paradigm of universal visualization and virtualization predicts the dynamic meaning of modern media text, a meaning that reflects new technological realities. Not only new words, but also new grammatical units become this dynamic meaning markers. The argumentation of the hypothesis is based on the example of the expanding context of prepositional-case forms of nouns telephone, TV and computer.

The article is dedicated to holophrastic neologisms i.e. blended words constructed on the basis of word combinations. The author focuses on emotiveness of holophrastic structures in political texts represented in the Internet. A dynamic contradiction between the violation of a norm, taking place in new words formation (those new words are considered as occasionalisms of holophrastic type) and new ways of emotiveness representation has been studied from the viewpoint of language ecology. In course of research, more than 100 texts and microtexts were analyzed; at the same time, the ironic potential, language games and the possibility of self-expression of the subject turned out to be characteristic of political texts. As the main research technique, we used continuous sample of holophrastic set expressions; in addition, in order to obtain objective data, such services as Yandex and Google have been used. Holophrastic set expressions have been treated as a result of word formation and representation of such linguistic personality as native speaker of Russian.

The systematization, justification and summing up of the cumulative processes of neologisms in the mental vocabulary of a linguistic personality under the conditions of modernization of national identity is a necessity in accordance with the modern requirement of the development of science. This will make a certain contribution to the implementation of priority areas of the language policy of Kazakhstan and will contribute to the improvement and standardization of the Kazakh language infrastructure, significantly affect the formation of a “prestigious image of a native speaker of the state language” and increase the demand for the Kazakh language in the context of introducing a new Kazakh alphabet based on the Latin graphics. And also the study of the cumulation of lexical innovations in the mental vocabulary is, of course, especially relevant for modern Turkic languages with a similar linguistic history of development. This has specific motives, in particular in studies where the language is considered in a cognitive aspect, neologisms are analyzed as a result of the creative work of human consciousness.A review of some work on the study of neologisms in the cognitive aspect proves the relevance and need for the study of new words in the modern new paradigm. The article analyzes scientific criteria proving the relevance and necessity of studying the cumulation of new words in the mental vocabulary of a linguistic personality.

The article examines the specific aspects of antonomasia in modern media on the example of online versions of the German-language press: “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, “Bild”, “Die Zeit”. The aim of the study is to identify the pragmatic potential of this type of nomination in the articles on political topics. The relevance of the study is accounted for by contradictory approaches to such a multifaceted linguistic phenomenon as antonomasia within the framework of a pragmatic study of online media discourse. Antonomasia is a means of linguistic nomination, which is realized in speech and performs an evaluative function in the German-language media course, thus causing a special interest of a researcher. The main objective of the study is to identify the evaluative and influencing functions of antonomasia, which contribute to the formation of a certain position in the reader. The methods of continuous sampling and semantic analysis are used. The selected examples are divided into the cases of antonomasia of the first type (the transfer of a proper name to other politicians) and the second type (the transfer of mythological and literary characters to famous politicians). A special attention is paid to the analysis of the semantic modification of proper names in online media discourse and the background knowledge required for both “decoding” and translation of antonomasia by a native speaker into other languages. The paper states that antonomasia is always based on a secondary nomination and evaluation, it can also be part of the opposition “we” - “they”. The analysis of the practical material made it possible to reveal the estimated potential of antonomasia. The authors come to the conclusion that the analyzed material testifies to the relevance of antonomasia in the online media discourse on political topics, and its significant impact on the reader’s perception of information.

The article is devoted to the functioning features of precedent texts in modern media discourse. Texts by F.M. Dostoevsky, namely, fiction, journalism and epistolary heritage, served as the research material. The relevance of the study is explained by the intertextual nature of the modern media space. The article shows that along with the use of Dostoevsky's precedent texts as signs of high culture, the modern media space also actively manifests the features of the postmodern cultural paradigm. The specifics of the latter include metatextuality, irony, various kinds of transformation, e.g., in headlines, which indicates their game foregrounding. Special attention is paid, firstly, to various types of intertextuality and ways of precedent phenomena foregrounding; secondly, to their use in various media areas (advertising, urban naming) and genres (interviews, internet blogs, etc.). The problem of recoding precedent phenomena is considered against the background of the use of signs of high culture as a form of reflection of modern mass consciousness in modern media communication, which is of research interest from an axiological point of view.

Language software applications encounter new words, e.g., acronyms, technical terminology, loan words, names or compounds of such words. To add new words to a lexicon, we need to indicate their base form and inflectional paradigm. In this article, we evaluate a combination of corpus-based and lexicon-based methods for assigning the base form and inflectional paradigm to new words in Finnish, Swedish and English finite-state transducer lexicons. The methods have been implemented with the open-source Helsinki Finite-State Technology (Lindén & al., 2009). As an entry generator often produces numerous suggestions, it is important that the best suggestions be among the first few, otherwise it may become more efficient to create the entries by hand. By combining the probabilities calculated from corpus data and from lexical data, we get a more precise combined model. The combined method has 77-81 % precision and 89-97 % recall, i.e. the first correctly generated entry is on the average found as the first or second candidate for the test languages. A further study demonstrated that a native speaker could revise suggestions from the entry generator at a speed of 300-400 entries per hour.

Purpose This prologue introduces the LSHSS Forum: Vocabulary Across the School Grades. The goals of the forum are to provide an overview of the importance of vocabulary to literacy and academic achievement, to review evidence regarding best practices for vocabulary instruction, and to highlight recent research related to word learning with students across different grade levels. Method The prologue provides a foundational overview of vocabulary's role in literacy and introduces the topics of the other ten articles in the forum. These include clinical focus articles, research reviews, and word-learning and vocabulary intervention studies involving students in elementary grades through college. Conclusion Children with language and reading disorders experience specific challenges learning new words, but all students can benefit from high-quality vocabulary instruction. The articles in this issue highlight the characteristics of evidence-based vocabulary interventions for children of different ages, ability levels, and language backgrounds and provide numerous examples of intervention activities that can be modified for use in individual, small-group, or large-group instructional settings.
