The aim: We aimed to conduct a prospective analysis of the epidemiology of cerebrovascular disease and stroke among the adult population of Kyiv City, Ukraine the last 12 years. Materials and methods: We analyzed sectoral statistical reports of cerebrovascular disease and stroke in Kyiv City for 2009-2020. The statistical method and the method of system approach were used in this study. Results: We established that during the last 12 years there was a decrease in the incidence of cerebrovascular disease and stroke among the adult population of Kyiv (reduction of 1.83 times (p <0.05) with t reliability criteria 26.89). However, the incidence remains high (476.62 per 100,000 population). At the same time, the prevalence of cerebrovascular isease remains stable, and among the working-age population tends to increase. The incidence of stroke indicates a positive trend (251.3 per 100,000 adult population of Kyiv in 2009 and 95.0 – in 2020, respectively). In particular, the number of primary registered strokes decreased 2.64 times (p ≤0.05) with a reliability criterion of 5.7 which is 1.94 (p≤0.05) times lower than in Ukraine generally. During the study period, 27,928 people died in Kyiv from a stroke. The mortality rate of stroke among the adult population in the city decreased from 96.14 per 100,000 in 2009 to 57.17 in 2020. This significant decline occurred over the past two years. Conclusions: A significant reduction in the incidence of cerebrovascular disease and stroke in the adult population of Kyiv during the last 12 years has been established. This might be caused by increased stroke prevention work, provided to the city population, and by a higher level of availability and quality of medical care in recent years.

In order to assess the mortality and lethality rates of newborns in obstetric organizations of the North-Western Federal District in 2013–2019, a comparative analysis of official statistics data was carried out. It was found that in the North-Western Federal District in the period from 2013 to 2019, there was an almost annual decrease in newborn mortality rates. The overall decrease in mortality in maternity care organizations of the Federal District (from 2,5% to 1,9%) was mainly due to a decrease in mortality in obstetric hospitals of the first and second levels (respectively from 3,2% to 1,2% and from 1,7% to 0,7%), while most children died in perinatal centers, where the mortality rate has not changed in recent years (2013 – 4,1%; 2019 – 4,0%). The study showed a decrease in mortality rates in the subjects of the Russian Federation that are part of the federal district, except for the city of St. Petersburg. The average hospital lethality rate of newborns in maternity care organizations of the North-Western Federal District during 2013–2019 was in the range of 1,9%–2,0%, did not change significantly and corresponded to the national average. However, the level of hospital lethality significantly differed in individual subjects of the district – in more than half of them, the level of hospital lethality exceeded the average, while in others it was significantly lower. Thus, the decrease in the mortality and lethality rates of newborns in maternity care organizations indicates an increase in the quality of medical care for children in the North-Western Federal District. dicates an increase in the quality of medical care for children in the North-Western Federal District.

Zahedan, with a population of about 500,000, lies in the most arid area of Eastern Iran, close to Pakistan border. This city has shown the highest rate of population grown among the big cities of the country in the last two decades. Groundwater is the sole water source for the city. It is provided from an aquifer with an area of 120 km2. Groundwater  pollution and problems in water supply appear to be the main factors preventing the sustainable economic development of the city . The quality of groundwater has deteriorated sharply since last several years owing to the following main factors. (1) Groundwater pumping has exceeded natural recharge in the Zahedan watershed since 1980, and groundwater level in the city has been declining because of low yearly rainfall (Precipitation in the Zahedan watershed averages 95 mm per year, mainly in the winter). (2) The city population is growing fast, especially after 1980, and the aquifer pollution by human activities is serious. (3) Uncontrolled and unplanned development of the city in the western part over the aquifer that is providing fresh water has led to the problem of overexploitation and further groundwater pollution . At present, a massive federal project for the construction of 191 km long pipeline is in progress. It will fulfill the public demand of drinking water by bringing water from the Chahnimah Reservoir that is fed by the Hirmand River.

Migration processes associated with the outflow of the population from single-industry municipalities (monotowns) are becoming one of the components of global demographic changes on the territory of the Russian Federation. One of the tools to curb demographic contraction in the territory of single-industry municipalities can be the strengthening of diversification of the economy of monotowns, which should contribute to improving the quality of life of the population, including through a change in the structure of employment. The article analyzes the existing trends in the socio-economic development of single-industry towns of various types and shows that a significant number of them are characterized by demographic contraction, caused, among other things, by outflow of the working age population. Correlation analysis for a number of indicators characterizing demographic processes in single-industry municipalities showed a weak connection between them. Population survey data for 2016 and 2019 indicate a low assessment of measures to support single-industry towns by the population. The most significant factors for residents, indicating a favourable level of socio-economic development of the single-industry entity, in the opinion of the respondents, are employment opportunities, a decent level of wages, the quality of medical care, the quality of housing and utilities, and the ecological situation.

The method of assessing the impact of factors of diff erent nature on the components of the city’s living environment that determine favorable living conditions and the well-being of the population is considered. It is statistically established that the variety of factors should be taken into account when assessing and normalizing the combination of multifactorial impacts on demographic and social processes occurring in the urban environment. Combinations of the most signifi cant interacting factors and statistical models based on them can be taken into account when predicting the level of morbidity, the dynamics of migration processes, the family well-being of the population, and others. The developed models and assessment methodology can serve as a tool to support management decision-making to ensure a high level of quality of life of the population and urban development of residential areas.

Diabetes now affects 285 million people, representing 6.6% of the world’s adult population. It disproportionately affects the developing world, with four of five people with diabetes living in low- and middle-income countries (LMCs). Diabetes is expected to cost the world at least $376 billion (11.6% of total healthcare expenditure) in 2010, according to theIDF Diabetes Atlas. This means that LMCs will also bear the economic brunt of the disease, which affects far more people of working age than previously believed. In many of these countries, essentials for good basic care for diabetes are scarce. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) believes that where care for diabetes is scarce or limited, improving the coverage of prevention measures and basic care for diabetes will improve outcomes and quality of life. Good basic care can be highly cost-effective or even cost-saving. Even if costs are higher, the number of people affected by diabetes is now so large that it is no longer acceptable to ignore it.

There had been increasing number of child-centred destination established in the city with the concept of edutainment as to fulfil the needs of alpha generation. Emphasizing on three combined elements of personalized learning, fun and play, edutainment concept is seen as new approach. This is to enhance lifelong learning for the future generation who heavily depending on the advancement and incorporation of technologies to cultivate their intelligent growth. Consequently, the establishment of demand from the preschool operators can be seen through the growing number of excursion and field trip activities organized for children. However, less was examined as to what extend the concept of city edutainment fit into the needs of the educational purposes programs. Therefore, it is important to understand as to how the existing informal educational settings should transform to meet the needs of the alpha generation either by city population or outbound tourist. Hence, the understandings by the city governance is a must in developing and evaluating policy related to edutainment as to ensure the preferences for education-based infrastructures and learning meet the needs. Thus, this paper will discuss the fundamental ability of the city that makes it qualify as edutainment destination with the specific reference to the demand from preschool education in presenting the alpha generation. This including the characteristics of alpha generation, the needs from the preschool education and the city prospects as edutainment informal learning setting.
