The authors investigated the problems and prospects for the development of mortgage lending in the agricultural sector of Russia. The study found that the level of mortgage and, especially, land-mortgage lending to agribusiness is not high enough. The reasons - agriculture is characterized by a number of specific risks, land plots (as collateral objects) are financially unattractive for banking institutions, which experience increased risks with long-term lending to the agricultural sector of the economy. As a result, the process of mortgage lending to agricultural organizations presents various difficulties for potential borrowers. In order to activate mortgages for agricultural formations, the authors propose that banks expand the practice of issuing such loans on the basis of the simultaneous purchase by agricultural borrowers of part of their shares, as well as issue mortgage securities on the security of financially attractive agricultural assets (unmanned agricultural equipment, pest control bioferms, grain quality measurement devices, digital doubles, drones, etc.).

Seed plays an important role in agricultural sector for both production and consumption purpose. Availability of vigour seed is one of the major constraints for maximizing crop production. However, healthy seed can also lose its viability during seed storage by changing different physio-chemical properties. Influence of environmental factors and seed containers during storage leading to seed deterioration. In this research, mid storage seed hardening treatment was applied in different aged seeds of jute species (C. Capsularis & C. olitorius) with two types of storage bags. Seed hardening treatment showed the less moisture content with better germination percentage compared to the untreated species of jute seeds. Seed packing in polythene bags during both short and long term seed storages had higher viable seeds compared to the cloth packing seeds. The effect of seed hardening treatment on seed oil content and pattern of oil degradation is distinct in early period of storage. The faster rate of oil degradation, soluble protein and free amino acids was found in seeds of un-treated stored seeds in cloth bag. Contrary, very slow rate of oil degradation was observed in harden seed and stored in polythene bag which indicated better storability of harden seeds.

Abstract The research aims to analyze the costs of producing tomato under greenhouses in Anbar Governorate for the agricultural season (2019-2020), based on field data of 16 samples selected randomly. The results of the analysis shows that fixed costs constitute about (44.20%), while variable costs constitute about (55.80%) of the total costs. The average production costs in the research sample are about (109808) dinars/ton. The long-term cubic function was the best among the functions that express the relationship between production costs as a dependent variable and production and the number of greenhouses on the farm as independent variables. This is due to its analogy with the logic of economic theory. The modified coefficient of determination in it R-2 reached (0.98). It is found that the optimal size of the farm includes (3) greenhouses. It achieves the optimum production volume of (21.17) tons/farm. The average cost is about (64193) dinars/ton. (62.5%) of the farmers in the study sample achieve capacity savings, while (31.25%) do not achieve any savings. As for the percentage of farmers who achieve low rates of economic efficiency, they reach about (6.25%). The supply function shows that the elasticity of supply decreases with the increase in production. This means that the farmer faces great difficulty in controlling production in the event of price changes. The study recommended the needed to raise the marketing efficiency of the products of the agricultural sector and to protect the local product to help the Iraqi farmer attain the ability to compete.

The trends of changes in the structure of production costs and profitability of agricultural organizations of the Orel region are studied. The ratio of income and expenses that develops in the course of business activity is analyzed. The share of the cost of purchased products in the composition of material costs in connection with its growth is highlighted. The emphasis is placed on ensuring the systematic development of agricultural production in the region. The fact of a decrease in the share of wages in the structure of costs for the main production and a reduction in the average annual number of employees is revealed. The study is supplemented by an analysis of vacancies in agriculture in Russia, highlighting the most popular and highly paid professions in the agricultural sector of the country.


It has often been stated that the agricultural sector has the potential to provide the needed raw material for the manufacturing sector. It is pertinent to clearly identify this potential, interrogate why it still remains potential, and more importantly, suggest workable ways to sustainably and profitably exploit the potential as a going concern. This chapter is therefore designed to focus on enterprise expansion and opportunities for expansion in agriculture. The chapter is divided into the following sections: “Characteristics of Agriculture in Nigeria,” “Determinants of Youth Participation in Agriculture,” “Agricultural Enterprise Expansion and Agricultural Transformation,” “Enhancing Enterprise Expansion,” and “Opportunities in Agriculture.” The chapter concludes that for the potential of agriculture in an economy to be realized, the relevant stakeholders should know that business as usual is not an acceptable option; yield-increasing and enterprise-expansion-inducing strategies should be implemented in both the short and the long term. Recommendations are made to enable those engaged in agriculture to profit by it and increase in both output and in scale.

This study evaluated how organic manures and mineral fertilizers affect winter wheat grain and straw yields and grain quality properties. The analysed period of the long-term fertilizer experiment was established in Čáslav, Czech Republic, in 1955 and covers the seasons 2011–2014. The fertilizer treatments were: control; farmyard manure (FYM); FYM + P; FYM + K; FYM + PK; FYM + N<sub>1</sub>; FYM + N<sub>2</sub>; FYM + N<sub>1</sub>PK; FYM + N<sub>2</sub>PK and FYM + N<sub>3</sub>PK. The highest grain yields were recorded in the FYM + P and FYM + N<sub>3</sub>PK treatments (8.9 t/ha). The highest straw yields were recorded in the FYM + N<sub>3</sub>PK treatment (6.52 t/ha). The lowest yields were provided in the unfertilized control and FYM treatments. Qualitative parameters were evaluated in the control, FYM and FYM + N<sub>3</sub>PK treatments between the years 2011 and 2013. The best quality of wheat grain was provided by the FYM + N<sub>3</sub>PK treatment. Combination of the farmyard manure with NPK is the best way to achieve high grain yields with good quality and leads to sustainable food production.

It is standard practice in integrated urban water management to apply mathematical models of the total drainage system for calculating the frequency of occurrence of critical states in the receiving water body. The model input for such computations are long term time-series of rainfall data. However, it is inevitable that those rainfall data measurements deviate from reality. This is a result of inaccuracy of the measurement devices, errors in data transmission, local meteorological effects, etc. In this work we investigate the effect of such uncertainty in the rainfall data on the return period of the occurrence of oxygen depletion in the river due to the drainage of storm water. The errors in the rain data measurements are simulated by means of both stochastic and deterministic models. A comparison of the results obtained from the erroneous data series against the reference data reveals the small effect of random deviation in rain measurements. Only a constant and significant offset of the measured data (greater 20%) has an equally significant effect on the modeling result.

Investment in every type of asset increases GDP and net employment differently. This paper compares the effect produced by a permanent unitary shock in Sustainable Knowledge for the Primary Sector (SKPS) on the Spanish employment and GDP growth with the effect produced by the other fourteen capital stock types. The methodology used is a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), where the complementary capital can affect SKPS instantaneously. The results suggest that SKPS produces the second-highest, short and long-term effects on both labor and production, per Euro invested; moreover, the investment of 4.3 thousand euros is retrieved in the first year and increases net employment in one person after four years. Accordingly, the 5 million Euro Budget to invest in sustainable machinery and processing techniques increases net employment by 827 employees.
