The purpose of this study is the function of speech acts in the Madurese kejhung oral tradition and the context behind the Madurese kejhung oral tradition, which includes situation, social, culture, and ideology. This study uses a sociopragmatic approach and descriptive method. Researchers as human instruments. This research involves hermeneutic and sociopragmatic analysis methods. Hermeneutics is used to reveal the conditions of the context. This study uses data in the form of kejhung text which contains the function of speech and the context of the Madurese kejhung oral tradition in the form of rhymes. The results of the study indicate that the speech function is dominated by the directive speech function, both the advisory directive function and the inviting or wishing directive function. This shows that the function of Madurese speech is to actualize the attitude of the Madurese. The context of the kejhung madura situation is the wedding ceremony, welcoming guests, cow race, sonok cow, and rokat tase'. The social context behind daily life such as harmony and cooperation, the cultural context is the customs and way of life, while the ideological context behind the Madura kejhung is strong Islamic teaching within the Madurese community.

Up to the present time, there are still many children games played with their respective accompanying songs by young children in Maluku. The lyrics of these children songs can be categorized as one form of texts that can be analyzed in terms of language aspects. This paper discusses directive speech acts contained in the children songs-attached games in Maluku. The purpose of this paper is to describe the various acts of directive speech, the social-cultural context that embodies it, and the level of politeness they may carry. The approach used was pragmatic approach, specifically the framework of speech act theory. The data used in this study was children songs in Ambon-Maluku, both oral and written data containing directive statements. Data analysis was done by interpreting, making inferences, and presenting it in the form of descriptive analysis. Descriptive analysis is intended to describe, provide an overview and identify the relationship between the phenomena being studied. The directive act of speech contained in the children game songs in Maluku can be categorized as direct or indirect. The direct way of directive speech acts is used for requesting, ordering, inviting, and forbidding, while the indirect way is preferred than imperative mode by using interrogative sentence, news report, and a particular request statement. Thus, through this analysis, we may come to an understanding of the dynamics of socio-cultural realm that underlies the presence of children game traditions in Maluku.

Invitation is a speech act which is perceived differently across cultures. Understanding the pragmatics of invitation requires knowledge of the notion of politeness and politeness strategies which comprise culture specific elements. Politeness is realized in various discourses, social contexts and speech acts. The purpose of the study is to identify politeness strategies in Russian invitation in formal and informal contexts in three age groups and see how they correspond to the understanding of politeness in Russian communicative culture. The empirical data for the study were obtained through discourse completion tests with 101 participants (issuers of the invitation) of different age and social status as well as through ethnographic observation. The research is based on Discourse Analysis and Politeness Theory (Brown & Levinson 1987; Larina2009, 2015; Locher 2006, 2013; Leech 2014; Mills 2003, 2017; Sifianou 1992; Terkourafi &Kadar 2017; Watts 2003, among others). We used discourse analysis to analyze the impact of the social and cultural context on the performance of invitation, the descriptive method which was used to analyze the pragmatic functions of invitation, as well as contextual interpretation of this speech act and the method of quantitative data processing. The study revealed some differences between a formal and informal invitation concerning politeness strategies and linguistic means of its expression. It also showed that in Russian culture issuing an invitation is not perceived as a face threatening speech act; in the analysed social contexts the preference is given to direct invitation, and the inviter’s imposition, as a rule, is perceived positively. The results contribute to a better understanding of Russian politeness and communicative style and can be implemented in intercultural pragmatics, intercultural communication and SL teaching.

This research was highly concerned on the study ethnography of communication, i.e. in the way of speaking a language. The objective was on learn realization of English speech acts in the class interaction between students and lecturer(s). The study conducted in the English Education Study Program of Palangka Raya University. The method applied was a communication ethnography based on the social phenomena of empirical facts in terms of illocutionary speech acts of directives. It is a qualitative research focusing on the speakers’ utterances. Data collected using the Spradley’s ethnography method. Data analysis using the model of Hymes’ communication analysis, including: analysis of communication situation, communication events, communication acts, and Spradley’s analysis of cultural theme. The first finding and the novelty showed that the realization of directive speech act had been the most dominant one. This finding proved that the illocutionary speech act of directives has a higher social status in an interaction. The use of speech acts of directives proved that it was closely related with the context of situation and culture of the speaker(s) whereas the higher(s) had dominated the lower(s). Finally, directive speech act was used to control the class to be interactive by the lecturer(s).

The purpose of this study was to conduct the oral tradition in Pantun of Langkat Malay traditional wedding ceremony by using Sibarani’s theory. Oral Tradition itself is text, co-text, and context tradition. The method used in this paper was descriptive and qualitative. For collecting the data the researcher became an instrument by doing observation and unstructured interview. Analysis technique used which were transcribing, reading, comprehending, investigating, describing, and explaining. The findings of text showed theme in Pantun that uttered by telangkai contained gratitude, honor, tradition, persuasion, joke, hoping a kindness, signifying a peace, welcoming guest, enthusiastic, teasing which briefly supported by co-text and context. Co-text described paralinguistic, kinetic, proxemic, and material elements. Some context applied as follow; cultural context, social context, context of situation, and culturalcontext.

Abstract: Unggahan tradition in a ritual that is unique and full of magical feel. Unggahan conducted at sites considered sacred and trusted local people can get closer to the Almighty. This ritual in understood as a form of preservation of cultural heritage. In the social and cultural context, unggahan can be used as a vehicle for social cohesion, a means of togetherness of community members. In a unggahan ritual procession, community members gathered togheter without any barriers in the class and social status. Unggahan centred in rural communities Bonokeling Pekuncen Jatilawang District of Banyumas. All members of the community, including “child putu” of the various regions, both in the district of the Banyumas, Cilacap, Banjarnegara, even in far away arears come together in Pekuncen. Unggahan also become a means of gathering the family and as well as a social, cultural, and religious transformation. Unggahan is an expression of piety society where a sense of mutual assistance, solidarity and togetherness become main patterns of this tradition. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas tindak tutur Pandita dan kedua mempelai dalam pernikahan etnis Tionghoa Peranakan di Klenteng Kebon Jeruk, Semarang. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti melakukan perekaman dan observasi partisipan dalam pernikahan di Klenteng Kebon Jeruk, Semarang. Dari analisis ditemukan bahwa semua tindak tutur ada dalam peristiwa komunikasi pernikahan ini. Walau Pandita dan kedua mempelai memiliki kapasitas berbicara yang sangat berbeda. Urutan tindak tutur partisipan utama yang terbanyak yaitu Pandita, mempelai pria dan mempelai wanita. Pandita berperan dominan  dilihat dari kuantitas tindak tutur. Peran Pandita dalam upacara sebagai pengendali terlihat jelas dari jumlah tindak tutur direktif yang muncul. Makna dari tindak tutur tersebut menginstruksi kedua mempelai untuk mengikuti apa yang dikatakan Pandita. Mempelai pria dan wanita memiliki porsi bicara yang sama dan terbatasi terlihat dari jumlah tindak tutur mereka. Upacara pernikahan etnis Tionghoa peranakan mengakomodasi Pandita untuk mengambil kendali penuh atas pernikahan etnis tersebut dan sekaligus mengontrol tindak tutur mempelai. Kedua mempelai menggunakan tindak tutur komisif berjanji untuk hidup dengan rukun dan menaati ajaran Budha dalam pernikahan dan asertif yang memaknai respons tindak tutur direktif Pandita.Kata kunci: Penutur, tuturan, pernikahan,tindak tutur ilokusiABSTRACTThis study discusses the speech acts of a priest and the bride and groom in a Chinese ethnic marriage at Kebon Jeruk Temple, Semarang. In collecting data, researchers conducted the recording and observation of participants in marriage at the Kebon Jeruk Temple, Semarang. From the analysis, the researchers find that all speech acts existed in this marriage communication event, although the priest and the bride and groom have a very different speaking capacity. The main sequence of speech acts of the main participants was the priest, bridegroom, and bride. Priest plays a dominant role in terms of the number of speech acts. The role of the priest in the ceremony as a controller is evident from the number of directive speech acts that arise. The bride and groom have the same portion of speech and are limited in their number of speech acts. The Chinese descents’ wedding ceremony accommodates the priest to take full control of the ethnic marriage and at the same time, control the speech acts of the bride and groom. The bride and groom use commissive and assertive speech acts, which are responses to the priest's directive speech acts.Keywords: speaker, utterance, marriage, speech act, illocution

<p class="06IsiAbstrak"><em>Textual interpretation potentially emerges conflict because it denies the social cultural context in which Al-Qur’an is used a way of life in the present context. Especially if the verse interpreted textually is related to the division of roles and rights that must be fulfilled in a family relationship. This article aims to examine the principles of interpretation, application and consistency of Saeed’s contextual interpretation in the qiwamah verse. This research is a library research with a data collection model and is presented in an analytical descriptive. The results of this study found that: First, Saeed’s contribution in contextual interpretation was a theoretical-methodological contribution by establishing nine principles in treating texts. Secondly, Saeed has applied three hermeneutical stages in interpreting verses related to male and female relationship, but it is not entirely consistent with the contextual interpretation model he initiated, especially in the third (meaning for the first recipient) and the fourth (meaning for the present). He explores the opinions of pre-modern to modern scholars more to describe the shift in context and the possibility of radically changing interpretation but he tends not to convey his personal opinion regarding the meaning of qiwamah. </em></p>

This study is aimed to develop and enhance the roots of Javanese culture which are oriented towards the activities of eating in the social culture of coastal Javanese communities. Social culture contains the pillars of harmony and politeness. The harmony derives from noble values and politeness derived from the principle of cooperation in the context of speech acts. The research location was in Semarang city, especially in the rural area. This type of research is qualitative. The methods of data collection were observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The methods of data analysis were semantic component reconstruction, lexicon mapping, and the settlement of lexicon elements in Javanese culture. The result of the research is the development of methods in the form of semantic component reconstruction. Reconstruction of semantic components involves four pillars of analysis: value-referent-concept words. Another finding, in the form of the design of the development of cultural values of eating activities, can be done through the hierarchy of speech acts. The enrichment of lexicon eating activities can be done through word alignment or paraphrasing.

The objective of this study is to understand comprehensively the directive speech acts contained in the comic Tous Super-Héros by Jean-Christophe Camus, Lilian Thuram and Benjamin Chaud which includes forms, meanings and functions. The data analysed were dialogues between the characters in the Tous Super-Héros comic that were found in the dialogue balloon. The data, hereafter processed through a content analysis method with a qualitative approach. Qualitative approach used here is an approach that investigates a social phenomenon and human problems which the data collected consists of words (or text) from the expressions between speakers and interlocutors in the dialogue. Analysis of the findings shows that literal direct speech acts as a form of directive speech act has the highest intensity of 65.12%, the context of commands and warnings as the meaning of directive speech acts has the highest intensity of 20.93%, and advisories as a directive speech act function has the highest intensity of 24.41% . The findings in this study have implications for general French language insights, and for understanding the social and cultural of French expressions.

This research was based on the politeness in speech acts at traditional ceremonies for Tolaki-Mekongga ethnic group as native ethnic in the mainland of Southeast Sulawesi province. In traditional wedding procession, it was known as Tolea-pabitara (spokesman), both Tolea-pabitara represented the family of the bridegroom, and Tolea pabitara represented the woman's family. The competence of politeness in speech act at the traditional procession to the continuity of interaction was crucial and was the responsibility of Tolea-pabitara. The problem in this research was how the use of directive speech acts of Tolea pabitara as politeness strategies in a traditional wedding ceremony of Tolaki-Mekongga ethnic group in Southeast Sulawesi. There were two objectives in this research. The first was to describe strategies of Tolea pabitara in using directive speech acts as a strategy of politeness in a traditional wedding ceremony of Tolaki-Mekongga ethnic that reside in mainland of Southeast Sulawesi. The second was to describe the types of directive speech acts that were used by Tolea pabitara in the traditional wedding ceremony of Tolaki-Mekongga ethnic group in Southeast Sulawesi.
