scholarly journals The Model of Network Consulting Communication at the Early Stages of Entrepreneurship

The essence of the early stages of entrepreneurial activity is a gradual refinement and transformation of the cognitive model of a business project into an ongoing organizational structure. The aim of the article is forming the structure of a model of consulting communication of prospective and novice entrepreneurs based on an open multilateral platform. The methodological basis of the study is the cognitive approach to organization of network communication. The conceptual structure of the organization model of the communication process, based on the principles of adaptive (transactional) feedback, is presented. The result of consulting communication is transformation of an initial business idea, resting upon the personified implicit knowledge of the entrepreneur, into an informationbased business model of the startup’s activities. The transformation is carried out in the process of interaction with specialists who play the role of an expert, evaluator, or mentor and have proven semantic and pragmatic ideas about the essence of entrepreneurial activity. Organizational functions are performed by the platform administrator, who owns the techniques for conducting complex multilateral communication. The proposed conceptual model of network consulting allows approaching the concretization of the procedures and rules for organizing communication processes to provide information support at the early stages of entrepreneurial activity.

Depression is currently understood within a biomedical paradigm. This paradigm is an example of reductionism; people are clinically diagnosed and categorized based on behavior and affect, while they are then prescribed psychotropic medications based on an inconclusively correlated neurotransmitter imbalance in the brain. In this article, clinical diagnosis and labeling are explored with respect to their detrimental potential. A framework of embodied cognition is used to conceptualize a cognitive model of depressive experience. This theoretical model explores the potentially self-reinforcing cognitive mechanisms behind a depressive experience, with the goal of highlighting the possibility of diagnosis as a detrimental influence on these mechanisms. The aim of this article is to further a discussion about our current mental health care paradigm and provide an explanation as to how it could cause harm to some. Clinical applications of the model are also discussed pertaining to the potential of rendering formal dichotomist diagnoses irrelevant to the ultimate goal of helping people feel better.

This article seeks to explain the key variables of internal communication processes of information technology executives, specifically chief information officers (CIOs), at higher education institutions. By understanding the key variables that influence the IT communication process, leaders and administrators, such as the CIO, can better communicate with their stakeholders leading to a successful, technology-integrated organization. While others have sought to model this business-IT relationship using communication as one part of a model, this study focuses upon only the CIO communication process adding value to current information technology management literature. This exploratory pilot article offers empirical insights about how CIOs communicate within their own team and up through the executive ranks of an organization. It suggests that CIOs can be divided into two categories; these two categories, keying off of communication variables, appear to directly affect the ultimate success or failure regarding the integration of technology into the mission and vision of the organization.

Information system is one of the most important business supports in organizations. Web-based applications become an appropriate solution to overcome the dynamically changing environment among different units in an organization. Model-View-Controller (MVC) is a well-known design pattern in web-based application development due to the separation of an application into several parts, hence it is easy to reuse and maintain. However, such design pattern requires improvements since the information system handles business process choreography and integration between application. Therefore, modifying the interaction of object of class in a design pattern become a challenging problem. In this paper, an application framework based on Model-CollectionService-Controller-Presenter (MCCP) design pattern, which is a modification of an MVC, was proposed. The proposed framework allows multiple different applications to run and provides inter-application data exchange mechanisms to improve the data communication process between applications. Several performance comparisons with another popular web application framework are also presented.

Abstract Nowadays, due to the benefits of technological development and the spread of the Internet, various threats have started to be recognized. Still, the awareness of society, especially politicians and state administration in this area is insufficient. This is also evidenced by the fact that initially this topic was not discussed at all in the scientific and even popular literature. The author of the article poses a question: is there, then, an effective method of defense against cyber threats, since their effects can be so disturbing? According to the author, the key to cyber security is the awareness of users of the digital communication process, both at the administrative and social levels.

The article attempts to determine the specifics of communication studies, its place and role in the system of scientific disciplines. The author emphasizes the importance of development of this science, especially in today’s conditions of constant growth of threats and challenges in the social communication process. The main arguments of the author are as follows: firstly, communication studies will give new opportunities for theoretical and practical study of social communication processes; secondly, in the age of globalization, development of communication studies is a factor for the further development of science in general, as well as social life in all its dimensions. Discussing with the theorists, the author of the article tends in his thoughts to an interpretation proposed by T. Kotarbinski that “the science is any set of human knowledge where one can distinguish the subject of intellectual study and specific specialization” [5]. The specificity of communication studies corresponds to these basic criteria: firstly, it has a relatively defined subject of study and the field of research (all that is related to communication of people and social groups); secondly, for research in this area there is an inexhaustible array of open sources of information; thirdly, there is a developed network of scientific institutions on the basis of which it is possible to develop and implement such researches; fourthly, the advances in the field of communication studies will always have not only theoretical value, but also practical application in the institutions of higher education, where the specialists of corresponding specialization are educated and trained. According to the results of the research, the author comes to the idea that communication studies belong to the sphere of social sciences. For the proof of this concept, the scientist provides for a number of arguments.

This paper examines communication challenges within the military institution in Botswana. There seems to be rigid ways of delivering messages which in the end impede smooth communication practices between senior personnel and their subordinates within the institution. This study adopted the qualitative analysis to interrogate issues underlying communication practices from military classrooms for three years. The target group was middle ranking officers in institution who take Communication and Study Skills course as a requirement for their study at the University of Botswana. Data were collected using open ended questionnaires, interviews and group discussions in the classrooms. The model of communication process and new media were used to benchmark the practices within the institution against what the concepts say. The findings indicated that indeed communication processes were marred with problems that hinder smooth transition of messages from the sender to the receiver and ended up frustrating the subordinates. The study concluded that revamping and sanitizing communication practices within the military institution was necessary through educating the leadership to address the barriers encountered.
