In present time, the phenomenon of ‘globalization’ has been largely possible due to increased popularity of e-communication and digitization of information. Additionally, the ready availability of computers and internet has contributed in ‘linking’ the world together into a single whole. It has transformed human life and environment; and has fulfilled the innate human desire for speed. And by using various e-tools, such as emails, social networking sites, mobiles, blogs and others, fast paced communication has been made possible. Consequently, the modern scenario of communication has changed forever. It has helped in improving the standard of living and has enabled faster, clearer and more accurate outcome to the designated tasks. The young generation is increasing moving towards using the e-mode for communication. The youth of India are becoming more and more techno friendly. They use e-tools like smart phones, laptops, tablets etc. excessively for interaction and communication. Moreover, use by doing research on the above mentioned topic the researchers wish to get an insight into an extremely current topic, namely, the connection between use of e-communication and the change in the method of communication and language, specifically written English, due to its wide-spread use. In order to make the research more pointed, the researcher has decided to study a specific target group of youngsters, namely, undergraduate students and evaluate their writing pattern. By carrying out research in the proposed topic, the researchers attempt to analyze the impact of e-mode on the English language.Moreover, they wish to specifically investigate the kind of impact e-communication has had on written English of these students: Whether it actually has had an impact or not; and to what extent it has transformed the English used by them or is it the other way around?

This study investigates the perception and use of social networking sites among undergraduate students in Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The main purpose of the study is ascertained the popularly used SNS, the purpose of using the SNSs, the perception of students towards SNSs and identity the impact of the use of SNSs by the undergraduate students. The study adopted descriptive research. The population of the study is 300 registered undergraduate students of Niger Delta University Library. Questionnaire was used to collected data. The result shows that Facebook, Google and WhatsApp are the popularly used social networking sites. Social relation, academic learning activities, sharing of information, etc. are the purpose of using social networking sites. The findings also revealed positive perception towards the use of social networking sites and, positive impact of using social networking sites. Arising from the findings some recommendations were made.

As the Internet has been adopted and integrated in the daily lives of an increasing number of young adolescents in western countries, scholars and commentators are debating and speculating on the impact of these new media on the activities, social relationships and worldview of the young generation. The communication environment has become more and more complex, as youth combine the use of electronic mail, open forums, chat rooms, instant messenger and social networking sites. In this chapter the author argues that the use of different social applications, partially define the structure and content of social communication and association. In this chapter the author reviews the literature on the motivations for the use of each social application and the impact of the use on the type, size and quality of social ties that are maintained and created.


The study has been used to explore the impact of social networking sites amongst the undergraduate women students. In the framework of existing digital media, social networking sites have been known as individuals, by means of the Internet and web application to converse in previously unfeasible ways. It can be predominantly effect of a culture-wide impression shift in the uses and potential of the internet itself. The objectives of the study are to ascertain the different type of social networking sites used by women undergraduate students to scrutinize the level of usage, reason of using social networking sites, to settle on the advantages of using social networking sites and to make out the dangers associated with social networking and to submit strategies to restructure such dangers. The descriptive design has been in use to get responses from a sample size of 115 women undergraduate students who were selected via random sampling techniques. The 115 respondents completed and returned the questionnaire precisely indicating 100% response rate. The outcome of the study discloses that all the women undergraduate students uses social networking sites to expand information, interaction with friends, connecting to their classmates for online study, discussing serious national issues and watching movies etc. There are many advantages of using social networking sites and their menaces combined with social networking and such dangers can be restructured using the strategies available in the work. From the findings, it was recommended that women undergraduate students should attend various awareness program to update on the negative aspects of social networking sites etc. Based on the findings suitable suggestions were also made

Facebook use in higher education has been explored from different perspectives (i.e. academic institutions, teachers, students). This research aimed to investigate Greek Library and Information Science undergraduate students perceptions of Facebook use for educational purposes. A questionnaire was distributed online during the first two weeks of June 2015 to 278 undergraduate students studying Library and Information Science in Greece. 135 questionnaires were collected with an overall response rate 48.6%. It was found that students employ Facebook mainly for social interaction and communicate though they do recognize the educational potential of social networking sites. Academic institutions and teachers need to stay up-to-dated with the emergence of new Web 2.0 tools and use them when appropriate to meet their goals. This research contributes in providing a further insight into the way students employ social networking sites and thus, assist academic institutions in formulating their strategy and teachers in incorporating Facebook in delivering their courses.

Social networking sites are more common to the young generation worldwide. Pakistan’s major population is comprised of young generation. Thus, usage of social networking sites has become the trend among the youth of Pakistan which has strong effect on the student’s performance and habits. Thus, this study aims to examine the impact of social network usage on the university student’s academic performance of Lahore, Pakistan. Cross sectional survey technique has used in the current study. The self-administered questionnaire distributed to the 260 students of four universities of Lahore through convenient random sampling. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data while Chi-square (X2) analysis has performed to test the research hypotheses. The findings of the current study show that the university students of Lahore, Pakistan are using different social networking sites which has negative effect on the student’s academic performance and habits. Int. The media serve as a tool used for transmitting information, as well as a centre of social life. There is no doubt that over time they also became one of the most dominant areas of activity for children and young people. The paper aims to present the role and importance of the media in the lives of every human being, with particular emphasis on the young generation. The author takes a closer look at the media as an educational environment shaping society’s behaviour and way of thinking. The paper also outlines several examples of the impact and consequences that the use of mass media has on health and social functioning.

Since the conception and exponential growth of social networking sites (SNSs), technology has advanced sufficiently to allow access to them at any moment for any reason. This has given users a “virtual space” (VS) in which to communicate and “live” within (e.g., Facebook), a space which disparate research has shown to have an impact on users’ behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. The present study aimed to examine the potential for SNSs to influence the physical, mental, and social well-being of undergraduate students. To explore this in a unified fashion, we conducted in-depth interviews with 25 participants across three qualitative studies. All interview transcripts were analyzed using a recursive deductive thematic analysis. Lefebvre’s trialectic of space was examined for its applicability to students’ experiences of VS vis-à-vis SNSs. Lefebvre’s spatial triad provides a novel and coherent framework to untangle and explain the multifaceted and often complicated nature of SNS use. Analysis found correspondence between Lefebvrian triadic space and SNSs to explain the pervasive, dominant, and sometimes pathological role that SNSs can have upon everyday functioning. Implications are that a Lefebvrian approach can inform future research as a means to untangle and explain the multifaceted and often complicated nature of SNS use.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the structure of human life globally, starting from the social, economic, political, health aspects, and so on. This study attempts to map the impact of changes in Generation Z consumer behavior in the period before and after the COVID-19 pandemic took place with the black box model in 3 stages, namely stimuli, transformers, and responses. The study was conducted on 186 undergraduate students with an age range of 17-24 years in measuring changes in 3 aspects, namely consumption patterns, entertainment, and basic necessities. The research model uses mixed methods with concurrent models, through the type of concurrent triangulation strategy. The results showed that there was a significant change in consumption and entertainment patterns in terms of the selection of purchasing methods and processes. Surprisingly, the pattern of shopping for basic necessities tends to not experience significant changes and contrasts with the media coverage of panic buying.

Nowadays, psychology has entered a new era of its development. This is directly related to a phenomenon of cyberspace, the space in which the digital dimension of modern human life is manifested. Within the context of the development of new technologies around the world, cyberpsychology has emerged. It aims to understand the psychological processes associated with all aspects and features of human behavior in cyberspace. Cyberpsychology is faced with many challenges, and the impact of social media on mental health and psychological well-being is among them. The article attempts to investigate the influence of social networks on psychological functioning of an individual. While some researchers emphasize the positive impact of social networks on psychological well-being, others are focused on the dangers of cyberspace. Recent study suggests that long-term use of social networking sites may be associated with symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, loneliness, and low self-esteem. As far as social networks are a relatively new phenomenon, the potential link between their use and mental health and psychological well-being has not yet been properly explored, and the scientific community has not yet been able to fully interpret the results and reach a definite conclusion. The relationship between the use of social networks and psychological functioning is not that simple and unambiguous; it depends on many factors, such as the way to use it, communication patterns, emotional state, comorbidities, self-awareness, motivation, values, attitudes, and preferences. Today, we cannot avoid cyberspace, thus, the health and well-being of both the individual and society depend on our ability to interact effectively within it.

Abstract The present paper focuses on the interconnection and the impact of broader social events responsible for shaping the character of the young in the context of developments in both post-communist countries and the European Union as a whole. The attention of the paper is devoted to the changing perceptions of liberty in relation to a high standard of living in European countries and the need to promote moral education comprehensively, with regard to having a balanced impact on the development of moral knowing and moral feeling. Further, the paper offers an analysis of dimensions that determine moral actions and character accents, considered to be essential to convey in order to encourage the moral development of pupils. Finally, the paper ends with a presentation of the conditions that should help the ethical development of active goodness in the young generation.
