Comparative analysis results applicable the requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Rules and Russian River Register Rules to structural fire protection (combustible materials) of river-sea-going ships are presented. The study purpose is to compare the safety standard levels laid down in the Rules of these classification societies for river-sea-going ships operating in similar areas and navigation conditions. As a research method, we used a point-by-point analysis of the requirements and approaches of these classification societies, as well as international and national regulatory documents on the basis of which they were developed. It is shown that the approach to classifying materials based on their test results, given in the rules of the River and Sea Registers, is generally the same, but there are fundamental differences in methods of testing materials and criteria for evaluating their results (combustibility tests, flame spreading, flammability, combustion products toxicity, smoke-forming capacity). Comparative analysis results are presented and directions for improving and harmonizing the regulatory and technical framework for mixed navigation vessels in relation to methods of testing materials and criteria for evaluating their results are outlined. The information presented in this article can be used for developing the Russian River Register Rules requirements, and also by design engineering organizations for developing technical documentation (analysis of compliance with the Rules requirements) necessary for a vessel transfer into River or Sea Registers classes.

Students’ physical quality “jumping" in non-physical education university is discussed in the article. Complementary characteristics of "jumping ability" described by scientists in different years are given and literary sources of scientists on this problem are analyzed. The article provides the results of practical research based on the Abalakov’s test for measuring jumping ability among students at elective physical culture lessons and a comparative analysis of the test results is presented. Sport that shows the highest jumping ability as an important component of harmony in human motor actions is revealed. Activities at University sports clubs are recommended.

The goal of the article is to choose the most efficient user interface creation tools possible for Spring. The study compares 4 selected view technologies: JSP,  Thymeleaf, Wicket and Angular. Time and memory performance tests were carried out using Rest API in Spring. Test results allowed to identify the best solutions.

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of educational motivation and professional identity of Russian and Indian students studying in Russia and intending to continue their studies in the magistracy. The use of a comparative analysis based on the test results for two samples, a questionnaire survey, showed the predominance of internal learning motivation and a higher level of professional identity of Indian students compared to students from Russia. The factors influencing the results of measuring educational motivation are indicated. General recommendations on the formation of optimal educational motivation and professional identity of future masters are given.

Deposition, erosion, and corrosion (DEC) experiments were conducted using three coal-water fuels (CWF) in a staged subscale turbine combustor operated at conditions of a recuperated turbine. This rich-quench-lean (RQL) combustor appears promising for reducing NOx levels to acceptable levels for future turbines operating with CWF. Specimens were exposed in two test sections to the combustion products from the RQL combustor. The gas and most surface temperatures in the first and second test sections represented temperatures in the first stators and rotors, respectively, of a recuperated turbine. The test results indicate deposition is affected substantially by gas temperature, surface temperature, and unburned carbon due to incomplete combustion. The high rates of deposition observed at first stator conditions showed the need for additional tests to identify CWF coals with lower deposition tendencies and to explore deposition control measures such as hot gas cleanup.

AbstractCytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is endemic worldwide but its seroprevalence varies widely. The goal of this study was to estimate the age-specific seroprevalence of CMV infection in Belgium based on two cross-sectional serological datasets from 2002 and 2006. The seroprevalence was estimated relying on diagnostic test results based on cut-off values pre-specified by the manufacturers of the tests as well as relying on mixture models applied to continuous pathogen-specific immunoglobulin G antibody titre concentrations. The age-specific seroprevalence of hepatitis A virus (HAV), based on three Belgian cross-sectional serological datasets from 1993, 2002 and 2006, was used as a comparator since individuals acquire lifelong immunity upon recovery, implying an increasing seroprevalence with age. The age group weighted overall CMV seroprevalence derived from the mixture model was 32% (95% confidence interval (CI) 31–34%) in 2002 and 31% (95% CI 30–32%) in 2006. We demonstrated that CMV epidemiology differs from the immunizing infection HAV. This was the first large-scale study of CMV and HAV serial datasets in Belgium, estimating seroprevalence specified by age and birth cohort.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are harmful to human body and environment. In order to know the formatting rules of benzene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in gasoline combustion process, a series of tests are done in a constant volume combustion bomb. The emissions of benzene and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are measured by a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analyzer. The test results show that the benzene in combustion products comes from the incomplete combustion fuel. The free radicals out of cracking fuel may also become benzene in combustion process. Adding ethanol in fuels does not necessarily increase the emission of benzene. Formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons varies with temperature.

ABSTRACTObjective. To describe the seasonal variation and perform a comparative analysis on habitat preference of Haemaphysalis juxtakochi in Panama. Materials and methods. Ticks were collected from the vegetation, using a white cloth, between January 2009 and March 2010, in four site located in Summit Municipal Park (SMP), two in wooded area (WA) and two in grasslands (GR).The ticks were determined as larvae, nymphs and adults of H. juxtakochi. The number of ticks collected in each area was employed to describe the seasonal distribution of both immature and adult stages, and the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. Results. A total of 2.338 ticks in WA and 560 ticks in GR were collected. The major peak of adults from May to July, nymphs peaked from January to April and the peak of larvae abundance from December and January. There was a significant difference in the number of ticks collected in the two areas for each tick stage (larvae, mean number (MN) in WA 120.14, MN in GR 57.07, P: 0.02; nymphs, MN in WA 46.42, MN in GR 16.38, P: 0.018; adults, MN in WA 6.64, MN in GR 1.78, P: 0.02). Conclusions. The results suggest that H. juxtakochi maintains a one-year cycle in the study areas. This cycle would be characterized by the immature population peaks in the dry season; while adults are distributed throughout year, with a peak in the transition from the rainy and dry. Moreover, H. juxtakochi was more abundant in forests than in grasslands, which could lead to a better adaptation to forested conditions.

Design of joints of LVL elements with glued-in steel rods and metal connectors is considered as semi-rigid connection and requires taking of account the compliance. A comparative analysis of the test results of the beams with a metal connector and glued-in steel rods as well as solid beams is made in the paper. Design method of glued-in rods in LVL is proposed and taken into account failure mode. It allows reducing the distance between the axes of the rods as well as the distance from the rod axіs to the edges in the cross section of the beam and increasing the joint strength.
