The exploration addresses the effect of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on the peristaltic mechanism of Bingham fluid. A two-dimensional non-uniform porous channel is considered for the fluid flow, which is assumed to be inclined. The impact of heat, slip conditions, wall properties, homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions are examined. The resulting nonlinear differential equations are solved by employing the perturbation method. The solutions acquired are analyzed and sketched through graphs that show that the variable viscosity renders a critical role in regulating the velocity of the fluid in the channel's central part. The stream function has been analyzed to observe the trapping phenomenon. Further, the obtained results find its application in understanding the flow of blood in micro arteries.

AbstractThe present analysis emphasizes the effects of variable properties on Bingham fluid under MHD peristaltic transport. Due to the impact of mechanical forces on the applied magnetic field on the conducting fluid, the fluid stream gets altered. These principle targets drug transport and control of blood flow during surgeries; hence the impact of MHD flow with convective and porous boundary conditions is considered. Further, the implications of homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions are analyzed by considering wall properties. The governing equations are turned dimensionless by appropriate similarity transformations. The series solution is obtained for temperature, velocity, and concentration by perturbation method with lubrication approach. The graphical representation of the pertinent parameters on the physiological flow quantities is depicted by applying for MATLAB 2019b program. The obtained results reveal that the rise in the magnetic parameter diminishes the velocity and temperature profiles. Further, the impact of variable viscosity slightly improves the magnitude of the trapped bolus. The homogenous and heterogeneous reaction parameters have a converse effect on the concentration distribution. Moreover, the present investigation finds its applications to perceive the complex rheological functioning of blood flow through narrow arteries.

In this paper aims, we found the fluid concentration after calculating the velocity and temperature of the fluid with a variable viscosity that depends on the fluid moving through an inclined porous channel. We examined the influences of certain parameters that are active on fluid velocity by analyzing the graphs obtained after we reached the momentum equation solution, and used the MATHEMATICA program for plot the velocity and temperature of the fluid for two types of flow (Poiseuille and Couette).

AbstractThe current study provides a detailed analysis of steady two-dimensional incompressible and electrically conducting magnetohydrodynamic flow of a couple stress hybrid nanofluid under the influence of Darcy–Forchheimer, viscous dissipation, joule heating, heat generation, chemical reaction, and variable viscosity. The system of partial differential equations of the current model (equation of motion, energy, and concentration) is converted into a system of ordinary differential equations by adopting the suitable similarity practice. Analytically, homotopy analysis method (HAM) is employed to solve the obtained set of equations. The impact of permeability, couple-stress and magnetic parameters on axial velocity, mean critical reflux condition and mean velocity on the channel walls are discussed in details. Computational effects show that the axial mean velocity at the boundary has an inverse relation with couple stress parameter while the permeability parameter has a direct relation with the magnetic parameter and vice versa. The enhancement in the temperature distribution evaluates the pH values and electric conductivity. Therefore, the $$SWCNTs\,\,{\text{and}}\,\,MWCNTs$$ S W C N T s and M W C N T s hybrid nanofluids are used in this study for medication purpose.

Oblique stagnation point flow of a Casson nanofluid over a heated stretching surface is examined under the influence of variable fluid properties. The impact of variable fluid properties on the flow field is examined by taking a convective boundary condition into account. Momentum, energy and concentration equations are transformed into the non-linear ordinary differential system through suitable similarity transformations and are solved analytically via Optimal Homotopy Analysis Method (OHAM). Effect of pertinent parameters on dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration are depicted graphically. Numerical values of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number have been calculated for various parameters. The results indicate that the axial velocity decreases with an increase in variable viscosity whereas the dual impact of variable viscosity is observed on transverse velocity.

The epithelium plays a critical role in the maintenance of laryngeal health. This is evident in that laryngeal disease may result when the integrity of the epithelium is compromised by insults such as laryngopharyngeal reflux. In this article, we will review the structure and function of the laryngeal epithelium and summarize the impact of laryngopharyngeal reflux on the epithelium. Research investigating the ramifications of reflux on the epithelium has improved our understanding of laryngeal disease associated with laryngopharyngeal reflux. It further highlights the need for continued research on the laryngeal epithelium in health and disease.

AbstractBacteria that colonize the human gastrointestinal tract are essential for good health. The gut microbiota has a critical role in pulmonary immunity and host’s defense against viral respiratory infections. The gut microbiota’s composition and function can be profoundly affected in many disease settings, including acute infections, and these changes can aggravate the severity of the disease. Here, we discuss mechanisms by which the gut microbiota arms the lung to control viral respiratory infections. We summarize the impact of viral respiratory infections on the gut microbiota and discuss the potential mechanisms leading to alterations of gut microbiota’s composition and functions. We also discuss the effects of gut microbial imbalance on disease outcomes, including gastrointestinal disorders and secondary bacterial infections. Lastly, we discuss the potential role of the lung–gut axis in coronavirus disease 2019.

L-methionine, an essential amino acid, plays a critical role in cell physiology. High intake and/or dysregulation in methionine (Met) metabolism results in accumulation of its intermediate(s) or breakdown products in plasma, including homocysteine (Hcy). High level of Hcy in plasma, hyperhomocysteinemia (hHcy), is considered to be an independent risk factor for cerebrovascular diseases, stroke and dementias. To evoke a mild hHcy in adult male Wistar rats we used an enriched Met diet at a dose of 2 g/kg of animal weight/day in duration of 4 weeks. The study contributes to the exploration of the impact of Met enriched diet inducing mild hHcy on nervous tissue by detecting the histo-morphological, metabolomic and behavioural alterations. We found an altered plasma metabolomic profile, modified spatial and learning memory acquisition as well as remarkable histo-morphological changes such as a decrease in neurons’ vitality, alterations in the morphology of neurons in the selective vulnerable hippocampal CA 1 area of animals treated with Met enriched diet. Results of these approaches suggest that the mild hHcy alters plasma metabolome and behavioural and histo-morphological patterns in rats, likely due to the potential Met induced changes in “methylation index” of hippocampal brain area, which eventually aggravates the noxious effect of high methionine intake.

The inflammatory gene NLRP7 is the major gene responsible for recurrent complete hydatidiform moles (CHM), an abnormal pregnancy that can develop into gestational choriocarcinoma (CC). However, the role of NLRP7 in the development and immune tolerance of CC has not been investigated. Three approaches were employed to define the role of NLRP7 in CC development: (i) a clinical study that analyzed human placenta and sera collected from women with normal pregnancies, CHM or CC; (ii) an in vitro study that investigated the impact of NLRP7 knockdown on tumor growth and organization; and (iii) an in vivo study that used two CC mouse models, including an orthotopic model. NLRP7 and circulating inflammatory cytokines were upregulated in tumor cells and in CHM and CC. In tumor cells, NLRP7 functions in an inflammasome-independent manner and promoted their proliferation and 3D organization. Gravid mice placentas injected with CC cells invalidated for NLRP7, exhibited higher maternal immune response, developed smaller tumors, and displayed less metastases. Our data characterized the critical role of NLRP7 in CC and provided evidence of its contribution to the development of an immunosuppressive maternal microenvironment that not only downregulates the maternal immune response but also fosters the growth and progression of CC.
