Educational institutions have invested in digital transformation, bringing new opportunities, however, also presenting challenges associated with this change. Recently, the Covid-19 outbreak accelerated this process, accentuating online learning in the educational process. The purpose of this article was to present an overview of the challenges and opportunities related to digital transformation of educational institutions and the needs caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Consequently, to better define the subject, it was conducted a qualitative methodology of bibliographic review. Digital transformation requires a reorganization of educational institutions, not only in the academic curriculum but also in both networking and social ways. Efforts are needed to integrate students and teachers in this digital age since they require training, monitoring and support in both digital knowledge and digital security. Otherwise, there is the risk of disruptions and anguish occurrence in the transitioning process and most of the advances made may not be sustainable. Despite all the known advantages of implementing new technologies in learning, digital divide raises concerns about equity. A good internet connection and availability of equipment are essential to make teaching process uniform and fair. Covid-19 pandemic forced digital transformation and the abrupt change in routines and procedures has putted everyone under great strain, namely teachers. However, this forced change also brought positive aspects such as investment in technologies of the future, with numerous initiatives and learning models already in practice and which are here to stay, as the teaching methods will never be the same after such an impactful experience.

The study focuses on the fact that during the period of digital transformation, modern models of digital competencies have emerged, which serve as the basis for the formation of new standards in the field of education, for the expansion of the teaching professions of the future, for the transition to new learning technologies (mapping, scribing) and the development of professional competencies of students, one of which is information competence. The following issues («prospects of digital transformation in education», «types of models of digital competencies», «information competence as an existential skill and long-term metaability», «mapping as a process of translation of meaning-making», «specific characteristics of cards», «technology of scribing in education») which rise in modern research and affect the improvement of the educational process in the digital educational environment of the university are subject to discussion. Attention is drawn to the description of the pedagogical experience of using mapping and scribing for the development of information competence of university students. The examples of maps created by students and undergraduates of the direction of training «Pedagogical education» and contributing to the formation of their deep and error-free digital educational footprint are given. In this research, the use of ICTs in India by librarians, particularly in the use of mobile phones, was the focus of this study. To gather the required data for the research, surveys were performed and this approach was implemented. The questionnaire was presented to eight librarians from eight teacher college libraries in the subject of study who responded to it, and the results were used to inform the research. According to the conclusions of the study’s materials, ICT use by professional librarians in India is still a relatively recent phenomena, and as a result, it is still in its early phases. The study showed that while libraries utilise information and communications technology (ICT) to deliver some services, these services are insufficient in part as a result of challenges such as a lack of money, a scarcity of trained personnel, and a lack of managerial support. According to the findings of this study, college librarians should get training in information and communications technology literacy since ICT is a dynamic, continuously practising, and training environment that they should take advantage of, as demonstrated by the results of the study. It was proposed that students have access to contemporary ICT instruments, such PCs, printers and scanners, to help them with their home maintenance tasks in order to enhance the administration of educational institutions. The recommendation was also made that libraries should get sufficient help in this respect. The research also advised that college bibliographers participate in attachment programmes with the help of students at the major university libraries to understand the finest practises of modern librarians.

The future of higher education is intrinsically linked with developments on new technologies and computing capacities of the new intelligent machines. In this field, advances in artificial intelligence open to new possibilities and challenges for teaching and learning in higher education with the potential to fundamentally change governance and the internal architecture of institutions of higher education. The role of technology in higher learning is to enhance human thinking and to augment the educational process, not to reduce it to a set of procedures for content delivery, control, and assessment. With the rise of AI solutions, it is increasingly important for educational institutions to stay alert and see if the power of control over hidden algorithms that run them is not monopolized by tech-lords. This chapter will cover all the positive and negative aspects of AI technologies on teaching, learning, and research in higher education.

The organization of the subject-spatial environment is one of the necessary elements for the successful formation of the educational process, including in institutions of additional education. Currently, researchers pay attention to the importance of the subject-spatial component of the educational environment. To develop a comfortable, creative interior, it is necessary to develop a system for assessing the compliance of this component with modern design requirements. Within the framework of the article, a possible variant of universal criteria for evaluating recreation areas in leisure and educational institutions is proposed, the results of which reveal the existing contradictions and shortcomings, as well as provide a choice of a conceptual solution for subsequent project development.

The  article analyzes the  problems of  introducing new theoretical and methodological approaches in  the  educational process of  primary school. The authors consider the changes that occur in learning as a result of the creation and application of  pedagogical innovations  – ideas, principles, technologies, methods and teaching aids. Unfortunately, the analysis of the literary sources and work experience of  teachers in  primary schools of  the  Moscow Region indicate a  lack of  activity of  teachers in  this direction. One of  the  main  reasons for this problem is the lack of an innovative environment in educational institutions, which is  manifested in  the  methodological unpreparedness of  teachers, in  their poor awareness of the essence of pedagogical innovations.
