This study was conducted to investigate the antipyretic effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Corchorus depressus Linn. against Escherichia coli ( E. coli)-induced pyrexia in rabbits. Hydroalcohalic extracts of C. depressus were given orally at 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg for antipyretic affect in E. coli-induced fever in rabbits. The animals were divided into five groups of five each. Among these five groups, three received various doses of experimental treatments, whereas the fourth one served as positive control and received paracetamol. The fifth group of animals served as negative control and received no treatment. The body temperature of the rabbits was measured rectally over a period of 5 h. C. depressus exhibited better effects at dose rate of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kg. The hydroalcoholic extract of C. depressus has significant antipyretic effect. These results lend support to the popular use of C. depressus in traditional medicine as a remedy for pyrexia and suggest that the characterization of the principles for such activity deserves further investigation.

The crude hydroalcoholic extract of Cassia sophera Linn. leaves were investigated for its possible analgesic and antipyretic activities in rodents. The peripheral analgesic activity of C. sophera leaves was studied using acetic acidinduced writhing in mice and central analgesic activity was evaluated by using heat-induced pain in mice. The antipyretic activity of HECS was studied in Brewer’s yeast-induced pyrexia in rats. All these experiments were done at the doses of 300 and 600 mg/kg body weight. Intraperitoneal administration of C. sophera hydroalcoholic extract (HECS) produced significant (P<0.01) reduction in number of writhing induced by acetic-acid. Moreover, in hotplate test, HECS significantly (P<0.01) raised the pain threshold at different time of observation (0-180 min) in comparison with control. The extract also showed significant as well as dose-dependent antipyretic activity in Brewer’s yeast-induced pyrexia in rats throughout the observation period of 4 h. In this paper the antipyretic effect of the Hydroalcoholic extract of leaves of Colocasia esculenta against Brewer yeast induced pyrexia model in Wistar rats of either sex was investigated. Colocasia esculenta (Apiaceae) is a tropical perennial plant. It contain flavonoids, alkaloids, apigenin, anthocyanin, carbohydrates, fiber, minerals, protein, fat, calcium and iron,  Fever induced in the animal (rats) by the injection 15%w/v of brewer’s yeast suspension (10mg/kg according to body weight of rats) subcutaneously in the back below the nape of the neck. . After 18 hr. of Brewer’s yeast injection and rise in rectal temperature was recorded. The temperature of animal was recorded at 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4hr after drug administration. Paracetamol (100 mg/kg p. o.) was used as standard drug. The group received Hydroalcoholic extract 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg showed significant decrease in rectal temperature respectively as compared with the group received standard drug. All the values are expressed as mean ± standard deviation and analysed for ANOVA. Differences between controls, standard ant test groups were considered significant at P < 0.001 levels. . The Hydroalcoholic extract of Colocasia esculenta leaves (200mg/kg and 400mg/kg) possesses dose dependent, significant antipyretic activity against Brewer yeast induced pyrexia. Keywords: Antipyretic activity, ethanolic extract, Colocasia esculenta, Dunnet’s t –test, ANOVA.

Hansraj(Adiantum capillus-veneris) is an herbal plant used in Unanisystem of medicine since ancient time. Leaf, roots, stem of the plant are mainly used in the treatment ofkidney stone, diabetes, fungal infection, thyroid and respiratory disorder. This review article is presented to compose all the new information on its phytochemical and pharmacological activities. Studies indicate Hansraj(Adiantum capillus-veneris) possessesantioxidant, wound healing action, anti-microbial and anti-fungal, anti-diabetic, antipyretic activity, it is contraindicated in pregnancy due to its anti-implantation effect. Most common use of Hansraj (Adiantum capillus-veneris) in hair problem because it prevent from alopecia and dandruff. These results are very motivating and indicate this herb should be more explore to confirm these results and reveal other potential and protective effect. Clinical trials using Hansraj (Adiantum capillus-veneris) for a variety of conditions should also be conducted.

Various types of conditions exist in the body that causes fever and pain. Drugs that are used to treat fever are called antipyretics, and those are usually prescribed to treat elevated body temperature. But those drugs result in many other side effects like ulcers, perforations, bleedings and obstructions, which make their use questionable and limiting. Medicinal plants are used in the treatment of diseases from the starting of the human race and the process; they had been subjected to rigorous investigations and tests to establish a scientific proof and validation of the various pharmacological activities and their respective mechanisms of action in treating the herbs. Considering the anti-inflammatory properties of the plant, Xylocarpus mekongesis was investigated for its antipyretic activity in yeast method and 3doses out of which 00mg/kg body weight showed a better activity compared to the standard drug and other extracts too. The mechanism of action was similar to the paracetamol action that is inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.

Plants are being used in medicine and treatment of diseases from years in the evolution. During the development of science, investigations to establish eh scientific proof and validation for the activities and mechanism of herbs to treat diseases. Capsicum annuum has anti-cancer properties, analgesic properties, anti lithogenic and thermogenic properties. It is used to alter the gastrointestinal function and boost metabolism. Many formulations are enriched with capsaicin which is a crucial ingredient in Capsicum to exhibit its weight loss properties. Based on the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of the plant and taking into consideration, the current research will focus on the investigation and comparison of the antipyretic activity of Capsicum in fruits and leaves. Results show that the leaves have similar chemical constituents that had antipyretic potential compared to the fruits. Overall, the Capsicum showed a comparatively same activity with the standard drug, paracetamol.
