This chapter discusses how the independent nature of entrepreneurs, combined with the enabling features of digital information technology (IT), may lead to a situation where paper-based and campus-specific classroom education is at best uncomfortable and at worst almost meaningless. It describes how IT literacy preconditions the current generation of learners toward acceptance of e-learning technologies as they are currently emerging. The management of industry knowledge rests on an IT platform, which responds to individual needs in specialized roles in disparate parts of the world. The purpose of the chapter is to define and capture the latest thinking in applied education and relate this to the mindset of the emerging generation of entrepreneurs. To this end, industry and business education cases are drawn upon to illustrate key points, and a framework is provided for better understanding knowledge management in the emerging global context of e-learning technologies.

As a form of distance learning, e-learning has become a major instructional force in the world. In this chapter, initiatives regarding e-learning and its impacts on instructional design, on school management and on the community are described and discussed in order to show different aspects of e-learning environments and their impact on related individuals or institutions. Future trends in e-learning are presented in connection with expected technological improvements and key points needing special care in the development of future e-learning environments are mentioned in the light of diffusion theory.

This work investigates the integration of e-Learning systems and knowledge management technology to improve, capture, organize and deliver large amounts of knowledge. First, a model is proposed for the phases of knowledge management. The model is then enhanced with concepts and technology from e-Learning. The model is then used to illustrate real world scenarios that add increasing amounts of knowledge management to an e-Learning environment. The system, AMID promises high interactivity, efficiency and effectiveness of integration of knowledge management and e-learning. In addition, the developed system will enhance technical learning process.

This research aims to analyze the implementation process of new knowledge management tools (KMT) in an Italian university as a result of the emergency challenges (COVID-19). The processes of academic knowledge transfer (AKT) and knowledge management tools (KMT) are undergoing rapid changes due to technological innovation and new user requirements. Universities are obliged to offer educational and training courses through distance learning technologies and e-learning platforms. The research adopts a research-action approach to analyze the case study. The results of this research show that the extensive use of KMT and e-learning requires new approaches for the creation of educational content on the part of professors; on the other hand, the implementation of these new technologies requires the redesign of the knowledge transfer processes to meet the requirements of web connection and the quality of teaching materials which are shared with many students at the same time.

As the world responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, most governments have temporarily closed all schools. Thus, there is a transition to distance learning on a large scale. Educational institutions try to organize training using Internet technologies, students use e-books while taking e-learning courses, researchers mostly use e-journals. Academic libraries around the world are digitizing library collections, creating powerful digital libraries that help readers get information. UNESCO and the Library of Congress have developed the World Digital Library, thus making an innovative attempt to develop intercultural understanding by providing access to digital heritage from 200 countries. As in many industries, the librarian branch must undergo radical changes due to the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence. The report of the Association of Research Libraries states that there are three categories of urgent changes: changes in relationship of a research library and its institutional partners; changes in the organization of research libraries; changes in the skills of librarian staff and users of library electronic funds.

Knowledge is a success key in every field aspects. Along with the development in the world nowadays, where globalization is a challenge in every Indonesian human resource to face global competition. In this case, education has important part as media in developing qualified human resources and also as the place where they can be educated in their field. In the development of information technology, it came new systems in several fields including what educational field known as e-learning. Knowledge management (KM) is one implementation of e-learning. There is a concept that gathers all knowledge aspects in easily accessed file or document, and also in hardly accessed as knowledge and experience. Keywords: knowledge management, human resource, education

The main goal of this study is to explore the insights and views from knowledge management (KM) and E-learning (EL) research scholars through a face-to- face interview for determining the relationship between KM and EL as well as for adopting KM in an EL system. We conducted this study based on the review of existing concepts and frameworks of KM and EL available in the secondary sources of information, and the findings of the face-to-face interviews of 17 (Seventeen) KM and EL research scholars from all over the world. We selected the respondents from the participants of two international conferences held in Japan and Thailand in 2010. The interviews were conducted during the break of the conferences using a carefully structured, short and open ended questionnaire. The levels of understanding of KM and EL among the research scholars were varied. The results indicate that there are some common goals and significant overlaps between the two knowledge domains. They also delineate the significant implications and advantages of adopting KM and EL. The proposed model of this study theoretically contributes to the advancement of academic debate in both KM and EL domains. Since we interviewed only 17 KM and EL research scholars worldwide from two international conferences held in 2010, the results of this study may not reflect the general scenario of the world. However, the study suggests that EL professionals should adopt KM and apply the techniques of KM to an EL system for the overall enhancement of the e-learning process. The study explored the original views and insights of the KM and EL research scholars regarding the relationship between KM and EL as well as adopting KM in an EL system.

Universities around the world are facing the task of adapting to a changing environment. In a contemporary global context, universities must respond to new educational needs, leading to a global process of enhancing lifelong learning. In addition, they must add new demands not only by students but also from other stakeholders who see the university as a core institution of training for adults. In the highly competitive and global environment of universities, traditional elements such as geographic location are less important in favour of other more intangible factors, such as the image of universities, prestige, and ability of adaptation to the training needs of people. Moreover, the phenomenon of e-learning leads to an increase in the competition between universities, where previous intangibles are increasingly important, as well as those that emphasize cultural aspects. This chapter presents how cultural dimensions are related to higher education, particularly from the work of Hofstede and the Globe project, as well as some cultural elements to consider in virtual environments.

The world has witnessed a major pandemic that has threatened the status of education across the globe. Such a crisis highlights the importance of education technology, which has not been an influential part of Kuwait’s education until the onset of COVID-19. Delays and interruptions of the academic year disrupted the lives of many students around the world, including Kuwait. Since e-learning technologies are not traditionally used in Kuwaiti higher education, this study aims to investigate the acceptance of technology and whether that has changed with the pandemic. It seeks to find useful strategies that could assist teachers in effectively using electronic distance-learning digital resources. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) has been developed to investigate the degrees of usage and acceptance of technology. This paper adopts an improved model that also includes the educational experience of teachers, in an attempt to understand the context of Kuwaiti higher education. Therefore, this quantitative study examines the use and acceptance of educational technologies of English language instructors in higher education. The study uses an online survey among 33 English language instructors at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) to also account for the perceptions and experiences of the teachers. The results revealed an overall high acceptance level of educational technology, with varying degrees of implementation.
