The 2019-nCoV has come as an unexpected wicked challenge especially to the vulnerable ones as it has significantly affected the local economic development (LED) activities of many local people in communities of South Africa. In this chapter, the role of community education as a problem-solving measure in promoting community participation in LED will be explored as limited participation in those activities prevail especially in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. The study provides the challenges posed by the limited participation in the communities and the economy and explains how the local participation is important through community education (CE) programmes in LED activities. Since community education indeed plays a huge role in enhancing community participation in LED activities, the government officials, policymakers and others need to work closely with local people so that they can understand the essence of socio-economic issues that communities daily encounter in the wake of the pandemic.

The basic function of modern university is to train talents, produce and disseminate scientific knowledge, and promote technological progress. As an important birthplace of high technology, universities are the natural matrix of good think tanks. Compared with the government-affiliated think-tanks and the social think tanks, the university-affiliated think tanks have some unique advantages, such as the concentrated embodiment of the university resources, the role of the third party of non-profit, more advanced and standardized operational model, and the strong scientific research foundation and ability. Therefore, in the current period of important strategic opportunities for local economic and social development, the construction of university-affiliated think tanks should be strengthened, giving full play to the role of university-affiliated think tanks, so as to promote local economic development.

This study aims to analyze and describe the role of Malang Regency Government in improving the local economic development through the tourism sector, in this case Balekambang Beach particularly. To analyze this problem, the researchers used the perspective of the New Public Management. This research uses qualitative type of research, descriptive analysis approach, and the interactive data analysis methods of Miles and Huberman. The research results showed that in improving the local economic development through the tourism sector, Malang Regency Government has to play its role as an entrepreneur, coordinator, facilitator, and stimulator with as much as possible to be able to boost regional economic development. Despite in the fact cannot be denied that there are still obstacles or barriers that must be faced in playing the role of the government.

This article aims to determine the construction of the thoughts of preachers and preachers about the urgency of preventing corruption through religious forums at the Greater Malang Government mosque. In addition, this study also aims to identify and analyze the role of spiritual forums in the Greater Malang Government mosque in preventing corruption. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach by making in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results of this study indicate that the construction of preachers and preachers about the urgency of religious forums as a basis for preventing and fighting corruption in Malang Raya has strong potential as well as cultural capital to inject the awareness of the mustami', most of whom are officials. There are construction variants among the preachers and preachers at the Government Mosque of Malang Raya. The constructions in question include theological buildings, Sufism, jinayah fiqh, eschatological constructions, and qawaidul fiqhiyah. Meanwhile, the role of preventing and fighting corruption at the Baiturrohim Mosque in Malang City Hall through religious forums has been carried out. However, studies on the theme of corruption are not explicitly discussed but are tucked away in various themes of sermons and lectures. Likewise, what happened at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, Malang Regency, and An Nuur Mosque, Batu City, several momentums of religious forums that were used as the basis for preventing and fighting corruption were expressed in religious activities such as cults, weekly and monthly recitations, Friday sermons, and commemorations. Islamic holidays. Through religious forums, preachers play a significant role as spiritual generators to bring about social change. This effort is carried out as shock therapy for officials so that they can behave honestly and trustworthy.

The role of Women entrepreneur in economic development is also being recognized and steps are being taken to promote women entrepreneurship. Women entrepreneurship must be molded properly with entrepreneurial traits and skills to meet the changes in trends, challenges global markets and also be competent enough to sustain and strive for excellence in the entrepreneurial arena. The study is about analyzing the entrepreneurship of women in Coimbatore city. The main objective is to investigate pull and push factors for women in entering entrepreneurship and to find out what kind of motivations women have as well as what barriers they need to faced. For this purpose primary data will be collected from 150 respondents who are residing at Coimbatore and it is concluded that women in Coimbatore city have higher interest towards starting a new business and this has to be taken in to consideration by the government towards women empowerment.

Environmental sanitation is part of public health which includes the principles of efforts to eliminate or master environmental factors that can cause disease through activities aimed at (i) water sanitation, (ii) food sanitation, (iii) sewage systems, (iv) air sanitation, (v) vector control and disease rodents, (vi) home hygiene. When sanitation problems arise in dense residential areas that are not well ordered and are also not handled in a way that is not sanitary, it will pollute the surrounding environment. Changes in community behavior to be more environmentally friendly do not just happen, but through the process of forming behavior that has a background and motivation. The motivation then raises behavior that influences the actions and efforts of the community towards the sustainability of the activity. So that this study will also analyze the role of the community and other involved stakeholders in the mechanism of improving the sanitation of the slum environment. MCK management activities are part of the practice of community behavior in improving sanitation. The government of the North Kembangan village has tried to improve this condition through programs to improve the settlement environment with the concept of community empowerment, this program involves community participation starting from the planning, implementation to the utilization and maintenance stages. It is expected that with this community participation a sense of ownership of development outcomes can be achieved so that the sustainability of the program can be achieved.

Village government is the lowest level of government in the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Its existence is very strategic for the implementation of programs of the central government, local government, and the wishes of the village community, so that the village government can help create a balance between the goals desired by the state and those desired by the people, namely the welfare of the people. For this reason, the role of village government officials is important to achieve the success of implementing village government tasks. In fact, there are still many village government officials who have not been able to carry out their duties and authorities properly and correctly. How are efforts to strengthen the role of village government officials so that they are able to carry out their duties and authority properly and correctly? One effort that can be done is to provide technical guidance to village government officials regarding village governance, the duties and authorities of village government officials, as well as the preparation of village regulations. Many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been under pressures from large firms to implement Business-to-Business e-commerce (B2B e-commerce) information systems. However, these SMEs have faced various challenges to do so in the supply chain. This chapter explains the role of Taiwanese government in supporting SMEs in implementing e-commerce by analysing the interactions of government teams with current projects, and challenges of Taiwanese SMEs. Discussions and analyses focus on the government help in setting up infrastructure, B2B e-commerce implementation, and interfirm interactions among SMEs and larger firms. The Taiwanese government has been promoting its global logistic strategy for economic development which stresses supply chain integration by bridging information flows among overseas enterprises, domestic large firms, and local SMEs. Government projects related to this strategy are intended to anchor SMEs’ growing needs in linking B2B e-commerce with large firms. Our analyses and proposal dwell on how government can further bridge the gaps between the intrinsic barriers of SMEs and the interactions with larger firms in B2B e-commerce implementation.
