A Pricing Model to Optimize Transmission Strategies for Mobile Devices

The simultaneous multiple data transmission can improve the use of the network. Unlike existing solutions in the literature, in this chapter, the authors propose a solution to the network resource allocation problem under the selfish behavior of mobile device with multiple connections to several available network interfaces simultaneously, to resolve the conflict of interest in network. They analyze the impact of interactions between users based on two conflicting factors (i.e., throughput and monetary cost). Also, a diverse set of user service types is taken into consideration, which makes the proposed approach suitable for an integrated service network. Analytical and numerical results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach, which show that the non-cooperative game has an equilibrium point that depends on all parameters of the system, and they show that this situation between mobile devices is much more beneficial in terms of the performance of mobiles, cost, and the data transfer rate.

SYNOPSIS Mandatory existence disclosure rules require an organization to disclose a policy's existence, but not its content. We examine policy adoption frequencies in the year immediately after the IRS required mandatory existence disclosure by nonprofits of various governance policies. We also examine adoption frequencies in the year of the subsequent change from mandatory existence disclosure to a disclose-and-explain regime that required supplemental disclosures about the content and implementation of conflict of interest policies. Our results suggest that in areas where there is unclear regulatory authority, mandatory existence disclosure is an effective and low cost regulatory device for encouraging the adoption of policies desired by regulators, provided those policies are cost-effective for regulated firms to implement. In addition, we find that disclose-and-explain regulatory regimes provide stronger incentives for policy adoption than do mandatory existence disclosure regimes and also discourage “check the box” behavior. Future research should examine the impact of mandatory existence disclosure rules in the year that the regulation is implemented. A theoretical study of a squeezing ferro-nanofluid flow including thermal effects is carried out with application to bearings and articular cartilages. A representational geometry of the thin layer of a ferro-nanofluid squeezed between a flat rigid disk and a thin porous bed is considered. The flow behaviours and heat transfer in the fluid and porous regions are investigated. The mathematical problem is formulated based on the Neuringer–Rosensweig model for ferro-nanofluids in the fluid region including an external magnetic field, Darcy law for the porous region and Beavers–Joseph slip condition at the fluid–porous interface. The expressions for velocity, fluid film thickness, contact time, fluid flux, streamlines, pathlines, mean temperature and heat transfer rate in the fluid and porous regions are obtained by using a perturbation method. An asymptotic solution for the fluid layer thickness is also presented. The problem is also solved by a numerical method and the results by asymptotic analysis, perturbation and numerical methods are obtained assuming a constant force squeezing state and are compared. It is shown that the results obtained by all the methods agree well with each other. The effects of various parameters such as Darcy number, Beavers–Joseph constant and magnetization parameter on the flow behaviours, contact time, mean temperature and heat transfer rate are investigated. The novel results showing the impact of using ferro-nanofluids in the two applications under consideration are presented. The results under special cases are further compared with the existing results in the literature and are found to agree well.

The issue of WDM network traffic grooming has been a hot in the field of research. The implementation of traffic grooming technology can improve the utilization of wavelength channels, reducing the link delay and the blocking rate of the network, which to improve network resource utilization and optimize network performance. This article mainly studies all-optical network routing algorithm utilizing WDM technology to achieve the dynamic traffic grooming and propose a optimization grooming policy -HaffmanGroom (M) algorithms which based on SONET / WDM ring network. The most important feature of this algorithm is that the SONET / WDM ring network of multiple multicast request packet , with a minimum weight of the light path priority selection method, the flow of requests each group effectively optimize ease . The algorithm takes into account the impact of the link request factor and link hops to optimize the link selection. The simulation results show that under the conditions of factors and the number of hop a request fully consider the impact of these two factors to the link, and can achieve optimal link with the smallest weights for effective data transmission, improving resource utilization, reducing blocking rate in order to achieve the purpose of optimizing network performance.

Ad-hoc networks are attractive, since they can provide a high level of connectivity without the need of a fixed infrastructure. Nodes that are not within the same transmission range communicate through multi-hops, where intermediate nodes act as relays. Mutual cooperation of all the participating nodes is necessary for proper operation of MANET. However, nodes in MANET being battery-constrained, they tend to behave selfishly while forwarding packets. In this paper, we have investigated the security of MANET AODV routing protocol by identifying the impact of selfish nodes on it. It was observed that due to the presence of selfish nodes, packet loss in the network increases and the performance of MANET degrades significantly. Finally a game theoretic approach is used to mitigate the selfishness attack. All the nodes in MANET should cooperate among themselves to thwart the selfish behavior of attacker nodes.

Objective.The study was to investigate the impact of orthotropic material on the biomechanics of dental implant, based on a detailed mandible with high geometric and mechanical similarity.Materials and Methods.Multiple data sources were used to elaborate detailed biological structures and implant CAD models. In addition, an extended orthotropic material assignment methodology based on harmonic fields was used to handle the alveolar ridge region to generate compatible orthotropic fields. The influence of orthotropic material was compared with the commonly used isotropic model and simplified orthotropic model.Results.The simulation results showed that the values of stress and strain on the implant-bone interface almost increased in the orthotropic model compared to the isotropic case, especially for the cancellous bone. However, the local stress concentration was more obvious in the isotropic case compared to that in orthotropic case. The simple orthotropic model revealed irregular stress and strain distribution, compared to the isotropic model and the real orthotropic model. The influence of orthotropy was little on the implant, periodontal ligament, tooth enamel, and dentin.Conclusion.The orthotropic material has significant effect on stress and strain of implant-bone interface in the mandible, compared with the isotropic simulation. Real orthotropic mechanical properties of mandible should be emphasized in biomechanical studies of dental implants.

The data transfer rate is the traditional criterion for evaluating the overall performance of a hard disk. In this paper, the data transmission performance of hard disk was characterized based on fractal theory. The traditional mechanical hard disks and solid state disks with different capacities and specifications were tested and the corresponding signal graph of data transfer was analysed for the calculation of fractal dimension D. The results indicate that the process of hard disk data transfer has fractal characteristics; the fractal dimension D increases with the increase of the average transfer rate and the rotating speed of mechanical hard disk. However, there seems no direct correspondence between the fractal dimension D and the capacity of the hard disk; the larger the floating range of data transmission, the greater value of fractal dimension D.

The article studies the efficiency of fragmented data frames transmission. Comparison of the efficiencies in the case of retransmission of the corrupted original frame and in the case of its fragmentation in a wide range of the physical data transfer rates is carried out.

Mobile learning (M - learning) emerges as the essential mark of technological revolution 4.0 and the great development of modern technology. It has proved that their smart functions were accompanied by the rapid expansion of mobile devices to support learning of learners everywhere and every time. Although mobile technology is expected to apply suitably to teaching and learning, the capacity of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students to use mobile devices to support their English learning needs to be thoroughly evaluated. This paper is to present how EFL learners at a Vietnam University can exploit mobile technology by questionnaire through a survey of 300 EFL students. The investigation took place during the second semester of the 2018 - 2019 school year. The quantitative approach has been used to gather and analyze data, and results have shown that EFL students are confident of learning English through mobile devices through their use of mobile technology. This shows that learning English by mobile devices is feasible and has got positive perceptions from the students. Furthermore, the research results are expected to contribute as a theoretical background as reference for future researches related to mobile learning applications.
