This paper proposes a new nonlinear broadband model of the power transformer which is both fit for steady state and transient simulation in power system. The model consists of high-frequency module and low-frequency module in parallel. Based on the black-box method, the high-frequency block is built in the form of π-type equivalent circuit, and the low-frequency block is in the form of conventional gamma-type circuit, in which core saturation characteristic is expressed by a nonlinear inductor. A power transformer is studied in the laboratory, simulations and experiments are carried out in case of power-frequency steady state, excitation currents distortions, lightning overvoltage, and very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) respectively. The comparisons between the simulated and measured results verify the feasibility and validity of the model.

The effect of stoichiometry, i.e. Ca/Cu ratios (CaCu3xTi4O12, x = 0.8, 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) on the microstructure and electrical properties was investigated. The grain sizes of CaCu3xTi4O12 composition increased sharply with the increase of copper, from ~1 μm with x = 0.8 to ~50 μm with x = 1.2. The real part of dielectric permittivity changed dramatically, the pellet with x = 1.0 had the highest dielectric permittivity ~160, 000 at 1 kHz. Furthermore, the dielectric permittivity of all pellets was impressively large values (between 10, 000 to 1, 000,000 at 100 Hz) and was nearly constant over a wide frequency range between 100 Hz to ~100 MHz. However, the dielectric permittivity of CaCu3xTi4O12 composition is not consistent with the amount of copper and cell parameters and grain sizes. Impedance spectroscopy exhibited that the CaCu3xTi4O12 composition had two semicircle at least at high frequency (~ 107 Hz) and low frequency (<100 Hz), respectively. The grain and grain boundary of the compositions had different impedance and relaxation behavior.

A number of methods have been used in partial discharge (PD) detection and recognition. Among these methods, ultra-high frequency (UHF) detection and recognition based on a single signal have attracted much attention. In this paper, a UHF PD detection system is built, and samples are acquired through experiments on a real power transformer. The received signal is decomposed into different frequency ranges through wavelet packet decomposition (WPD). In each frequency range, a pattern recognition neural network is built, and then the relationship between the information in that frequency range and PD type is described. By comparing the recognition accuracy of these networks, frequency range selection is optimized. In this specific case (the specific transformer, PD sources, and UHF sensors), results show that low frequency (156.25 MHz to 312.5 MHz) and high frequency ranges (1093.75 MHz to 1250 MHz) contain the most information for recognition. If a PD detection recognition system is to be designed, then the performance around these frequency ranges should be given attention.

This paper presents a method for vibroacoustic analysis of a transformer in the steady state. The standard approach to this problem has been based on analysis of the vibration frequency spectrum recorded with an accelerometer mounted on the transformer’s tank. To improve legibility of measurement results, the paper suggests the analysis method for the relative coefficient of harmonic frequency contents hnorm(f). The conducted experiment showed that high values of hnorm within a wide frequency range testify to deformation of windings and degradation of solid insulation.

We examined changes in cerebral circulation in 15 healthy men during exposure to mild +Gz hypergravity (1.5 Gz, head-to-foot) using a short-arm centrifuge. Continuous arterial pressure waveform (tonometry), cerebral blood flow (CBF) velocity in the middle cerebral artery (transcranial Doppler ultrasonography), and partial pressure of end-tidal carbon dioxide (ETco2) were measured in the sitting position (1 Gz) and during 21 min of exposure to mild hypergravity (1.5 Gz). Dynamic cerebral autoregulation was assessed by spectral and transfer function analysis between beat-to-beat mean arterial pressure (MAP) and mean CBF velocity (MCBFV). Steady-state MAP did not change, but MCBFV was significantly reduced with 1.5 Gz (−7%). ETco2 was also reduced (−12%). Variability of MAP increased significantly with 1.5 Gz in low (53%)- and high-frequency ranges (88%), but variability of MCBFV did not change in these frequency ranges, resulting in significant decreases in transfer function gain between MAP and MCBFV (gain in low-frequency range, −17%; gain in high-frequency range, −13%). In contrast, all of these indexes in the very low-frequency range were unchanged. Transfer from arterial pressure oscillations to CBF fluctuations was thus suppressed in low- and high-frequency ranges. These results suggest that steady-state global CBF was reduced, but dynamic cerebral autoregulation in low- and high-frequency ranges was improved with stabilization of CBF fluctuations despite increases in arterial pressure oscillations during mild +Gz hypergravity. We speculate that this improvement in dynamic cerebral autoregulation within these frequency ranges may have been due to compensatory effects against the reduction in steady-state global CBF.

Abstract The Fe nanocrystals (NCs) were embedded into the epitaxial BaTiO 3 (BTO) matrix. According to optimize growth processes, a novel nanocomposite system was constructed, which consist of well epitaxial BTO layer and three-dimensional Fe NCs. Based on this, the different dielectric response in the regions of low temperature-high frequency and low frequency-high temperature were revealed by the contribution of hopping and interfacial polarizations, respectively. With the increased amount of Fe NCs, the obvious enhancement of low-frequency conductivity, middle frequency capacitance and high-frequency inductive effect was found. The metal NC embedding plays an important role in tuning the dielectric behaviors and ac conductivity of oxide dielectrics. This significant rectification effect in the wide-frequency ranges opens up a new direction for the designing of embedded nano-capacitors.

Two types of special hearing aid have been developed recently to improve the reception of speech by profoundly deaf children. In a different way, each special system provides greater low-frequency acoustic stimulation to deaf ears than does a conventional hearing aid. One of the devices extends the low-frequency limit of amplification; the other shifts high-frequency energy to a lower frequency range. In general, previous evaluations of these special hearing aids have obtained inconsistent or inconclusive results. This paper reviews most of the published research on the use of special hearing aids by deaf children, summarizes several unpublished studies, and suggests a set of guidelines for future evaluations of special and conventional amplification systems.

Based on the newly proposed generalized Galerkin weak form (GGW) method, a two-step time integration method with controllable numerical dissipation is presented. In the first sub-step, the GGW method is used, and in the second sub-step, a new parameter is introduced by using the idea of a trapezoidal integral. According to the numerical analysis, it can be concluded that this method is unconditionally stable and its numerical damping is controllable with the change in introduced parameters. Compared with the GGW method, this two-step scheme avoids the fast numerical dissipation in a low-frequency range. To highlight the performance of the proposed method, some numerical problems are presented and illustrated which show that this method possesses superior accuracy, stability and efficiency compared with conventional trapezoidal rule, the Wilson method, and the Bathe method. High accuracy in a low-frequency range and controllable numerical dissipation in a high-frequency range are both the merits of the method.

In this paper, we propose a compact four-port coplanar antenna for cognitive radio applications. The proposed antenna consists of a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and three inner rectangular loop antennas. The dimensions of the proposed antenna are 42 mm × 50 mm × 0.8 mm. The UWB antenna is used for spectrum sensing and fully covers the UWB spectrum of 3.1–10.6 GHz. The three loop antennas cover the UWB frequency band partially for communication purposes. The first loop antenna for the low frequency range operates from 2.96 GHz to 5.38 GHz. The second loop antenna is in charge of the mid band from 5.31 GHz to 8.62 GHz. The third antenna operates from 8.48 GHz to 11.02 GHz, which is the high-frequency range. A high isolation level (greater than 17.3 dB) is realized among the UWB antenna and three loop antennas without applying any additional decoupling structures. The realized gains of the UWB antenna and three loop antennas are greater than 2.7 dBi and 1.38 dBi, respectively.

The phase structure, and electrical and magnetic properties of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3(LSMO)-xAg (xis the mole ratio,x=0, 0.3, 0.5) composite were investigated. It is found that the sample withx=0 is single phase; the samples withx=0.3 and 0.5 present three phase composite structure of the manganese oxide and Ag. With the increasing of Ag content, the grain size of the samples increases and the grain boundaries transition from fully faceted to partially faceted. The permittivity of spectrum (10 MHz - 1 GHz) and the theoretical simulation reveal that the plasma frequencyfpincrease with Ag content, due to the increasing of free electron concentration, which is further supported by the enhancement of conductivity. While for the permeability (μr'), theμr'decrease with the increasing of Ag content at low frequency range (f< 20 MHz), while at the relative high frequency range (f> 300 MHz), theμr'increased with Ag content. Therefore, the introduction of elemental Ag resulted in a higherμr'at the relative high frequency range.

AC and DC conductivities have been measured by using the real (e¢) and imaginary (e¢¢) parts of the dielectric constant data of glass and glass-ceramics (GC) at different temperatures in the rage 297-642K and in the frequency range 100 Hz to 10 MHz. Using Anderson –Stuart model, we have calculated the activation energy, which is observed to be lower than that of the DC conductivity. The analysis for glass/glass-ceramics indicates that the conductivity variation with frequency exhibits an initial linear region followed by nonlinear region with a maximum in the high-frequency region. The observed frequency dependence of ionic conductivity has been analyzed within the extended Anderson–Stuart model considering both the electrostatic and elastic strain terms. In glass/glassceramic the calculations based on the Anderson-Stuart model agree with the experimental observations in the low frequency region but at higher frequencies there is departure from measured data.
