In the image display and control system, a high speed dissymmetrical point to point communication port and protocol between GENIC(Gigabit Ethernet Network Interface Card) and SDRAM based on LVDS (Low Voltage Differential signaling) and STOP-WAIT ARQ protocol are designed, while the port’s speed should not below 1Gbps. Five lines LVDS signal pairs are used in one direction, including one clock and four data in the port’s electrical connections. Double-edge sampling and source synchronizing are also used. Mode 256 checkout is used to guarantee the reliable data transmission. Analysis shows that the port’s bandwidth is 1.2Gbps, the efficiency of protocol is above 99% and the protocol works steadily and reliably.

To compensate harmonics from nonlinear load, the controller of Active Power Filter (APF) need to detect harmonic and generate compensation current in high speed. APF controller functions are divided into two parts: outside controller part and inside controller part. Inside controller part detect harmonic current and control the IGBT to generate grid harmonics current. Outside controller part detect common power parameters and generate signal of management in main circuit. An experiment circuit of APF Controller is established. Some experiments are presented here.

In this paper, a high dynamic humanoid manipulator with DSP/FPGA-FPGAs hardware structure is designed to meet the demand of high-speed response required by playing ping-pong game. The manipulator integrates several sensors in each joint unit, and the controller is divided into two levels. The upper level mainly solves the kinematics and trajectory planning in DSP, while the lower level realizes the joint control such as vector control and sensors data processing in FPGA. The two levels communicate with each other by multipoint low-voltage differential signaling (M-LVDS) serial data bus every 200μs. Experiments of the manipulator hitting the ping-pang are done to demonstrate the design of this arm. The results show that the arm can reach the speed of 2.2m/s, and it creates a record of 22 continuous hits of the ball with a human rival.

As a new intelligent material, IPMC (Ionic polymer-metal composite) can be driven under low voltage with large deformation, and has been widely used in biomedical and robotic systems. Traditional IPMC testing system is bulky, high cost, and inconvenient to use. In order to achieve the portability and convenience of the IPMC testing system, a small and low-cost IPMC tester was designed. The power supply and control system of the tester were integrated into an IPMC electrode clamp. The main research work included control system circuit design, electrode clamp and overall exterior design. The displacement measurement results showed that the design for the IPMC tester was correct and feasible.

A smart microgrid is a bidirectional electricity generation system—a type of system that is becoming more prevalent in energy production at the distribution level. Usually, these systems have intermittent renewable energy sources, e.g., solar and wind energy. These low voltage networks contribute to decongestion through the efficient use of resources within the microgrid. In this investigation, an energy management strategy and a control scheme for DG units are proposed for DC/AC microgrids. The objective is to implement these strategies in an experimental microgrid that will be developed on the INTEC university campus. After presenting the microgrid topology, the modeling and control of each subsystem and their respective converters are described. All possible operation scenarios, such as islanded or interconnected microgrids, different generation-load possibilities, and state-of-charge conditions of the battery, are verified, and a seamless transition between different operation modes is ensured. The simulation results in Matlab Simulink show how the proposed control system allows transitions between the different scenarios without severe transients in the power transfer between the microgrid and the low voltage network elements.

The Message Passing Interface (MPI) was published as a standard in 1992. Since then, many implementations have been developed. The MPICH library is one of the most well-known and freely available implementations. These libraries allow for the simplification of parallel computing on clusters and parallel machines. The system provides the developer with an easy-to-use set of functions for point-to-point and global communications. The details of how the actual communication takes place are hidden from the programmers, allowing them to focus on the domain-specific problem at hand. Communication between nodes on such systems is carried out via high-speed cabled interconnects (Gigabit Ethernet and upwards). The world of mobile computing, especially mobile phones, is now a ubiquitous technology. Mobile devices do not have any facility to allow for connections using traditional high-speed cabling; therefore, it is necessary to make use of wireless communication mechanisms to achieve interdevice communication. The majority of medium- to high-end phones are Bluetooth-enabled as standard, allowing for wireless communication to take place. The Mobile Message Passing Interface (MMPI) provides the developer with an intuitive set of functions to allow for communications between nodes (mobile phones) across a Bluetooth network. This chapter looks at the MMPI library and how it may be used for parallel computing on mobile phones (Smartphones).

Abstract The concept of morphing aircraft was developed many decades ago, and many researches on the morphing aircraft such as stability and control have been published. As the point of view of the dynamic theory, the dynamic system of the morphing aircraft is consisted with multiple subsystems, and each subsystem represents the morphing aircraft with specific structure to fulfill a particular flight task. The switching process from one structure to another for such a morphing aircraft is considered to be smooth and stable, and the switching time is also assumed to be infinitely small. In this paper, a morphing aircraft with high-speed structure, intermediate-structure and low-speed structure is studied. Such a morphing aircraft is set to switch between high-speed structure and low-speed structure when the speed of aircraft arrives a preset critical speed, and the analytical conditions for switchability is developed. If such a morphing aircraft cannot switch to a low-speed structure or high-speed structure at the moment when it arrives the critical speed, it will switch to an intermediate-structure and control to keep the speed remain constant. The analytical conditions for onset and vanish of such a morphing aircraft switching to the intermediate-structure are also provided. Mapping structure is defined to describe the periodic motions of such a morphing aircraft. The bifurcation scenario is calculated to show the complexity of such a hybrid dynamical system. A periodic motion is given to illustrate the flow of such a morphing aircraft switching on the velocity boundary.

Interference in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) predominantly affects the performance of the WSN. Energy consumption in WSN is one of the greatest concerns in the current generation. This work presents an approach for interference measurement and interference mitigation in point to point network. The nodes are distributed in the network and interference is measured by grouping the nodes in the region of a specific diameter. Hence this approach is scalable and isextended to large scale WSN. Interference is measured in two stages. In the first stage, interference is overcome by allocating time slots to the node stations in Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) fashion. The node area is split into larger regions and smaller regions. The time slots are allocated to smaller regions in TDMA fashion. A TDMA based time slot allocation algorithm is proposed in this paper to enable reuse of timeslots with minimal interference between smaller regions. In the second stage, the network density and control parameter is introduced to reduce interference in a minor level within smaller node regions. The algorithm issimulated and the system is tested with varying control parameter. The node-level interference and the energy dissipation at nodes are captured by varying the node density of the network. The results indicate that the proposed approach measures the interference and mitigates with minimal energy consumption at nodes and with less overhead transmission.
