With the development of city, city population, regional planning and city ecological environment are facing with more and more tremendous pressure, so the development and utilization of city underground space has become common concern. In recent years, underground structures have been widely applied in the fields of city construction, transportation, defense engineering, water conservancy project etc. Many countries in the world have been the development and utilization of underground space as an important way to intensively implement the land resource and sustainable development of the city. In our country, there is still very great potential of underground space development and utilization of underground structure.

The city of today, its economy is one of the biggest problems to solve, development and utilization of urban underground space, the construction "compact" city, become the key to the gate open city construction. This paper mainly through urban underground expressway, underground residential building, underground sewage system, public facilities "common ditch", underground green space, underground recreation places, geothermal, underground city, the several potential city development and utilization of underground ways, this paper puts forward the scientific development view in the central guidance, to build a "harmonious society", the development of "the cycle economy" and construction "sustainable city" is of great significance.

The basic notion underlying urban underground development is that underground space is a non-renewable resource, therefore planning its use must be done in a sustainable, environmentally-responsible manner with due account taken of economic, functional, social, and legal aspects. This paper addresses issues related to the planning, siting, design, construction, operation and maintenance of underground structures in the city of Moscow. The mechanism of the interaction between an underground structure and the surrounding rock masses is described. It is shown that underground engineering can be significantly enhanced through the use of expert systems. The paper also discusses the need for changes to the legal framework for the use of urban underground space.

The urbanization rate of Nanjing is at the forefront of the country. According to the objectives and requirements of Nanjing to build a modern, international, humanistic green city.Firstly, this paper analyzed the connotation and the basic conditions of green ecological wisdom of Nanjing. Then it proposed the idea , objectives, principles and path of green ecological wisdom city construction of Nanjing. And highlighting the top-level design, building the green ecological environment, focusing on mechanism innovation to promote the city construction reasonably, strengthening the technical innovation to promote the interactive construction of city, promoting the industrial and construction of urban interaction were also proposed .It was needed to promote public goods , focus on public service platform, innovate governance model and build double-acting system with markets and government.

The soil over the bedrock in the city of Guangzhou is thin, with a depth of only about 11 m. Under such conditions, excessive exploitation of the underground space is very likely to affect the groundwater environment. In this paper, the impact of intensive underground structures, which act as barriers, on the groundwater flow in Guangzhou is investigated. The emphasis is on the impacts in terms of hydraulic head, Darcy velocity and groundwater balance. The study finds that: (1) Under the current underground structure density, the impact on the hydraulic head is small, and most of the change is in the range of ±0.5 m. (2) The Darcy velocity appears to be more susceptible to being affected by the structures. (3) The barrier effect of the intensive structures increases the overflow at the foot of the hills and reduces the transmissivity of the aquifer.

As the micro level of the city construction, the urban furniture landscape is an important part of the city ecological construction which cannot be ignored. To explore the method of landscape ecological design for urban furniture is very beneficial to create outdoor living environment ecology, safety and comfort in the city. Based on the analysis of landscape ecological urban furniture in each level of demand, the article proposes three kinds of ecological design methods as visual ecology, material ecology and technology ecology, and seeks the way of infecting and culturing peoples environmental protection consciousness through the micro ecological environment.

Since the begin of the 21st century, with the city construction scale expanding constantly, huge underground space has been an important trend of urban development, and will become one of the building types with modern cities symbol. On the other hand, the planning and designing of urban underground space function rationally are important ways to promote the urban functions. Combined with the project of Zhujiang Newtown CBD Underground Space in Guangzhou, the functional factors of huge underground space in modern city, and the design concept for modern urban huge underground space are discussed in this paper. At last, the function designs of Zhujiang Newtown CBD Underground Space are analyzed such as the innovation concept of underground traffic "minor cycle",the separation of pedestrians and vehicles, the sharing of space resource.

The city is a high-density human settlement. The contradiction in the city between human activity and ecological environment is particularly serious. In order to introduce eco-civilization into the city construction, it is inevitable to construct eco-civilization city. This article analyzes the connotation and characteristics of eco-civilization city, the main theoretical framework of urban eco-civilization construction including eco-civilization city construction planning, environmental protection, ecological economy/industry, ecological security, ecological concept/act, ecological culture, ecological politics/government, ecological law/system/policy, and ecological and livable city, which is expected to provide a reference for realizing the coordinated development of regional economic and environment.

The article deals with the problematic heritage associated with the system of Nazi German underground air raid shelters currently located within the Polish state, in the Baltic port city of Szczecin. The unwanted heritage has been inventoried, archival materials collected, and comparative analyses made of ways in which the underground space can be revitalised. An attempt was made to develop a typology of existing shelters and their locations. In order to overcome the negative associations with the warlike military space, positive system solutions were sought for the productive use of existing concrete structures located underground in central, easily accessible areas of the city districts. A process of upcycling the space was used to make ecologically efficient use of the material resources contained in the shelters. In order to activate the local community, a modular, hydroponic plant-growing system, adapted to the prefabricated spaces of the historical air raid shelters, was proposed. In this way, the central location of the underground structures within the boundaries of residential neighbourhoods was exploited. Such action strengthens the food sovereignty of the inhabitants, initiates bottom-up activity within the boundaries of the neighbourhood unit, and builds social ties in the spirit of a regenerative economy and positive sustainability.

With the rapid development of China economy, China urbanization process is entering high–speed development period. At the same time, the development of underground space is also entering the high-speed period. The development of underground space and the safety of the city is inseparable, the development of underground space is playing an important role in the settlement of the current urban safety, the constraints of the urban land resource, the narrow of the building space, the traffic jams, the worsening environmental pollution and city disaster prevention ability inadequacy, plays a more and more important role. Based on the analysis of urban safety that the city is facing, this paper makes full discussion of the relationship between the development of underground space and urban safety as well as the urban problem-solving approach.
