This paper studies the impact of different dosage of GGBS on the early age and later shrinkage deformation of concrete. Through the testing method of early age shrinkage of concrete the volume stability of shrinkage of concrete under different dosage of GGBS is evaluated, and the causes and effect mechanisms of that are analyzed.

Background: Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for the diagnosis of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) detects the presence of the organism; a positive result therefore cannot differentiate between colonization and the pathogenic presence of the bacterium. This may result in overdiagnosis, overtreatment, and risking disruption of microbial flora, which may perpetuate the CDI cycle. Algorithm-based testing offers an advantage over PCR testing as it detects toxin, which allows differentiation between colonization and infection. Although previous studies have demonstrated the clinical utility of this testing algorithm in differentiating infection from colonization, it is unknown whether the test changes CDI treatment decisions. Our facility switched from PCR to an algorithm-based testing method for CDI in June 2018. Objective: In this study, we evaluated whether clinicians’ decisions to treat patients are impacted by a test result that implies colonization (GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ test), and we examined the impact of this decision on patient outcomes. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of inpatients with a positive C. diff test between June 2017 and June 2019. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients treated for CDI. We compared this outcome in 3 groups of patients: those with a positive PCR test (June 2017–June 2018), those who had a GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ or a GDH+/Tox+ test result (June 2018–June 2019). Secondary outcomes included toxic megacolon, critical care admission, and mortality in patients with GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ who were treated versus those who were untreated. Results: Of patients with a positive PCR test, 86% were treated with CDI-specific antibiotics, whereas 70.4% with GDH+/Tox+ and 29.25% with GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ result were treated (P < .0001). Mortality was not different between patients with GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ who were treated versus those who were untreated (2.7% vs 3.4%; P = .12), neither was critical care admission within 2 or 7 days of test result (2% vs 1.4%; P = .15) and (4.1% vs 5.4%, P = .39), respectively. There were no cases of toxic megacolon during the study period. Conclusions: The change to an algorithm-based C. difficile testing method had a significant impact on the clinicians’ decisions to treat patients with a positive test, as most patients with a GDH+/Tox−/PCR+ result did not receive treatment. These patients did not suffer more adverse outcomes compared to those who were treated, which has implications for testing practices. It remains to be explored whether clinicians are using clinical criteria to decide whether or not to treat patients with a positive algorithm-based test, as opposed to the more reflexive treatment of patients with a positive PCR test.Funding: NoneDisclosures: None

This paper introduced about the in-process vibration testing method for small diameter endmill. By this method, the natural frequency and modal parameters such as mass, damping, and stiffness of the milling tool can be determined in the milling process. An oscillation of the vibrator is controlled by the function generator to apply the impact force at the appropriate cutting period. The measurement setup can determine the compliance curve by the measurement signals of the exiting force and tool deformation. To evaluate the feasibility of the new method, vibration tests were performed on a square endmill which has the diameter of 4 mm in the milling on brass material. Results of vibration tests show that modal parameters of the specific vibration mode can be determined by the new developed method.

A comparison was made between the impact of raising the thermostatic temperature and the impact of prolonging the thermostatic time on the performance of steam-cured concrete containing a large portion of fly ash (FA) or ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) by analysing the form removal strength, chemically combined water content, reaction degree, strength development, chloride permeability, and volume stability. For the materials and test conditions reported in this study, raising the thermostatic temperature is more favourable for concrete containing FA, as indicated by the significantly higher form removal strength and the higher growth of reaction degree of FA compared with prolonging the thermostatic time. With an increase in the thermostatic temperature, the hydration degree of a binder containing FA or GGBS initially increases and subsequently decreases. Although concrete containing FA can obtain satisfactory form removal strength with steam curing at 80°C, the late strength development of concrete containing FA is slow for the same curing conditions. The effect of the late performance of resistance to chloride ion permeability improved by FA is better than the effect improved by GGBS. The risk of destroying the structure of concrete containing a large portion of FA or GGBS due to delayed ettringite formation (DEF) is minimal when specimens were steam-cured at 80°C.

The introduction of computer programming in K-12 has become mainstream in the last years, as countries around the world are making coding part of their curriculum. Nevertheless, there is a lack of empirical studies that investigate how learning to program at an early age affects other school subjects. In this regard, this paper compares three quasi-experimental research designs conducted in three different schools (n=129 students from 2nd and 6th grade), in order to assess the impact of introducing programming with Scratch at different stages and in several subjects. While both 6th grade experimental groups working with coding activities showed a statistically significant improvement in terms of academic performance, this was not the case in the 2nd grade classroom. Notable disparity was also found regarding the subject in which the programming activities were included, as in social studies the effect size was double that in mathematics.

There are differences in the way people perceive the role of women and men in business. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of male or female leaders on two business families in Indonesia. The success of the family company cannot be separated from the role of the first generation in trusting future generations to continue their family business. A qualitative approach was used, where the data were collected through interviews with two family companies with different generations of successors. One family company has a female successor generation and another family company has a male successor. The findings showed that the first generation trusted from an early age and involved the second generation in the family business, whether their children were girls or boys. In fact, all succeeded in taking over the baton of leadership. An interesting finding is that even though the next generation is female and handles welding, which is more commonly done by men, thanks to the trust given by their parents, this next generation would be more masculine in order to gain legitimacy from employees who have worked for a long time in the company. This is as good as the next generation of men in other family companies. Keywords: family business, gender, first-generation roles, succession of success

Nowadays, low water-to-cement (w/c) ratio has been put into widespread use in engineering practice. However, low w/c ratio may give rise to high self-desiccation, which may lead to the decrease of early-age cracking resistance. Investigating the impact of w/c ratio on cracking resistance is utterly meaningful to understand the cracking mechanism of concrete better. However, the corresponding investigations remain lacking, especially when the ring test is utilized. Ring tests for three concrete mixtures with different w/c ratios were conducted to investigate the early-age cracking resistance of concrete from multiple parameters in the present study. Results showed that: (1) the development rate of shrinkage of concrete for Mixture W50 was slower than Mixture W33 and W40; (2) the value and development rate of residual stress of concrete decreased when the w/c ratio increased; (3) the relaxed stress for all mixtures developed rapidly at very early age, and reached the maximum quickly; (4) the cracking resistance of concrete increased as the w/c ratio increased at early age.

The<br />importance of childhood and early childhood characteristics, demanding<br />approach to be used in learning activities that will be used in the learning<br />activities that focus on children. At the time of this early age, children need to be<br />educated as well as possible, with methods appropriate to their circumstances.<br />The educational methods that can be applied are such as, advice, stories, and<br />customs. No “bad” or ‘good’method. Because it highly depends on many factors.<br />The important thing taken into account teachers to set a method is knowing<br />the limits of goodness and weakness methods that will be used, thus allowing<br />it to formulate conclusions about the results/achievement of the objectives of<br />the decision.</p>

This research study highlights the testing method and relevant results for assessing impact performance of a carbon fiber composite front bumper crush can (FBCC) assembly subjected to full frontal crash loading. It becomes extremely important to study the behavior of lightweight composite components under a crash scenario in order to apply them to automotive structures to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) models are extremely important tools to virtually validate the physical testing by assessing the performances of these structures. Due to lack of available studies on carbon fiber composite FBCCs assemblies under the frontal crash scenario, a new component-level test approach would provide assistance to CAE models and better correlation between results can be made. In this study, all the tests were performed by utilizing a sled-on-sled testing method. An extreme care was taken to ensure that there is no bottoming-out force for this type of test while adjusting the impact speed of sled. Full frontal tests on FBCC structures were conducted by utilizing five high-speed cameras (HSCs), several accelerometers and a load wall. Excellent correlation was achieved between video tracking and accelerometers results for time histories of displacement and velocity. The standard deviation and coefficient of variance for the energy absorbed were very low suggesting the repeatability of the full frontal tests. The impact histories of FBCC specimens were consistent and in excellent agreement with respect to each other. Post-impact photographs showed the consistent crushing of composite crush cans and breakage of the bumper beam from middle due to the production of tensile stresses stretched caused by straightening of the bumper curvature after hitting the load wall.

The attachment bond has been proven to be a vulnerability factor for chronic diseases. This article seeks to clarify this relationship by the theory of allostasis. Allostasis theory refers to the regulation of complex physiological processes by systemic response in the body maintaining physiological stability when a person is confronted by challenges. The insecure attachments confront children from his first years with stressful events, by failing to provide security, fundamental purpose of attachment. In this way insecure attachments could impact the calibration of the stress system in the early age and would be factors that increases the allostatic load by a larger number of stressful life events compare to people with secure attachment, a cognitive appraisal of threat that leads to the development of hypervigilance and the impact on stress regulation systems in the body.
